I gotta call out Able Baker for continuing the trend of breweries that kind of want to be restaurants, but also breweries. Wife and I decided to trek to downtown Vegas from Henderson and try out a few places that an "Open" program prompted us to try. I'd been here once or twice and was well familiar with AB in cans and all over town at local bars and pubs. The first problem we encountered when we got here was the seating setup. We were looking for something maybe outside that was less cramped with people (where we could put on headphones and do our own thing for a while - but with BEER). Limited outside seating was full, and inside seating was basically tables and bench seating meant for large groups. We decided to sit down anyway and give it a go. The next problem was that, while we were willing to try the in-house options, it wasn't exactly what we were hungry for and had our own food we wanted to munch on. My wife doesn't really drink, so she's mostly there to keep me company. Of course, this is not the policy, even if we had bought food from the vendor on site. As it turns out, the vendor on site is a separate vendor, and not directly affiliated with AB (the employee couldn't really say for sure when we asked her if it would count for the "Open" offer we tried). I kind of took that as a sign that we should head out and try HUDL down the street. They turned out to be all the things AB was not. Ended up getting a flight, another beer, and a take home six pack from HUDL. There was also a BBQ joint next door that we grabbed food from and sat outside and ate. Lots of outside seating too. For sure, it was a much more chill experience. I'm sure lots of folks would be just fine with the approach AB takes - more power to them. It's just not what I'm looking for in a brewery at all. read more

And although I'm absolutely NOT a fan of stouts/ dark beer my favorite beer was the #9 Honey Dip Imperial Stout. Beers I tried #23our-cha-tah cream ale - my 2nd favorite, it has a hint of cinnamon #19 mango calutron girl hefe - reminds me of the mango cart #25 gamma ray burst tripel - very similar to a tripel Karmeliet #9 honey dip imperial stout (dark beer) my fav! #5 autumn wind bba porter my friends favorite it's also a dark beer #16 training day golden ale - gave me IPA vibes not a fan, left a butter after taste #30 ghost town strawberries - sour & fruity Meh Flights come w/ a rubber duck which is a nice touch. Parking is a little but of a headache since it's located in downtown. Y'all already know how parking can get down there. They have a public parking right across, not free but it's a bit limited. Went on a Friday night and it was a full house in there, despite being busy all of the staff is super helpful and friendly! A lot of seating but may be hard to find seats if you are in a large group! Food- I am obsessed! Everything was amazing:,) We got their buffalo wings, pork belly tacos, and hangover fries! I can't wait to go back and get the exact same spread because it was so yummy! The wings were super flavorful and full, and the tacos had such a yummy sauce on them, and the fries were my favorite! The hangover fries come with "Seasoned chopped burger, American cheese, pickled Fresno chilies, and fry sauce loaded on a bed of crispy golden-brown French fries." and oh my goodness! Sooo soo good! I definitely recommend their kitchen food if you're in there with friends or family! Great sharing food:) Drinks- We got their #20 which is the mexican lager they have on tap! I drove by the Arts District and saw a yellow tower with a duck's face. I had to stop in and find out what the connection to the name "Able Baker" was. Turns out, the name comes from two atomic bombs detonated in Nevada and the only thing that survived was a duck. Since I was here, I ordered a flight to sample their beers. Lots of interesting selections, and landed on Waddle, Split Bill, Mango Calutron and their famous Atomic Duck. To the right of the bar, I ordered a pastrami sandwich. I thought it was part of the brewery, but it's called the Arts District Kitchen. Then I went back over to the bar and my flight was ready. It came on a wooden platter-shaped duck feet along with a little rubber ducky. I took it over to one of the picnic tables and started sampling. Out of the four, I love the Mango Calutron and the Atomic Duck. The buzzer went off and I went over to pick up my pastrami sandwich. The first bite hit the spot. I washed it down with the Waddle (Session IPA)...which actually paired well with the juicy pastrami. It was a wonderful surprise. I definitely will be back to sample the others I couldn't. If you drove here like me, every sample has different ABV levels...so know what you can handle. For me, I didn't want to leave my mustang at the public parking lot across the street. read more

Whenever we travel we always try to hit a brewery, Able Baker was an easy choice for our trip! We came in early on a Thursday and were able to try some fabulous beers, I truly enjoyed by Cherry Berry Bang Bang and drove a 4 pack back to Reno for my dad! My husband got the Gerboise Blanche and he really enjoyed it. We were also able to get their homemade root beer for my step son! They also are home to Arts District Kitchen, whose enchilada fries were an innovative delight! I absolutely loved the Atomic vibes and everyone was super nice and helpful. If you never been I always recommend to do the build your own beer flights so you get a little rubber duck. Since they are the atomic duck as a mascot! Why not collect their rubber duckies! *quack quack* The ambience here is just so chill. I love sitting on the patio or up at the bar. But service is always fast! If I do get food I always get the nachos! But today I saw Nashville. Which I knew would be something spicy! The girl working at the food counter said if you love spice you will love the Nashville fries and the Nashville Chicken Sandwich. She even said she will add extra ranch to make it even better tasteful experience. She was absolutely correct. Loved the ambience, relaxed and comfortable. Staff very helpful in selecting type of beer as well as offering samples. Food is way above par for a brewery. Selection and quality of the food from the in house Arts District Kitchen is outstanding. Wife and I shared a Cobb salad and a tasty pastrami sandwich...need to go back to try more from the menu! Parking can be a challenge because of it's location in the Arts District but going early and on weekdays minimizes that. My only downer is that their beers and especially Atomic Duck are not available outside of Nevada...bummer for us Cali people...oh well maybe in the future we'll see it on our shelves! Nice hazies, stouts, barley wine, Belgians, sours, and IPAs (even a root beer). Food was quick and tasty - had enchilada fries, quesadilla, and a Cobb salad. I love love love Able Baker Brewing! It's one of the best-kept secrets in all of Las Vegas, and it's one of the only reasons I ever venture downtown. It has a cool vibe and GREAT beers, and a nifty rubber ducky theme (you even get a small souvenir ducky with certain items). I'm not even a big beer fan but I love their dark beers. I've never had one I didn't love. They also make a killer nitro brew coffee that is among the best in the world. I usually get one when I stop by. I suggest first-timers get the sampler tray to try some of ABB's best offerings. They make special holiday beers that sell out fast and if you're lucky enough, you can sometimes get a growler-to-go. They serve food but it's not that great. Come here for the BEER. It's a self-service type of place. Walk inside, turn left and head to the bar. Order your beer, pay, and carry it back to any open table. There's a nice outdoor patio for people watching and plenty of communal picnic table style seating indoors. You can park free if you're wiling to walk around the block. read more

First things first, I came in to this bar as I usually do trying to order some drinks. There was a younger looking asian girl behind the bar who took our ID's. Upon inspecting our ID's, she said she needed to confirm they were real with her manager. Mind you, im 23 years old and I have personally never had an issue with my ID. The manager said they didnt feel comfortable taking my ID. I asked the manager to scan it and they said there were unable to and didnt have that type of technology to verify it. Overall, I have been going to this bar for a year. I have never had any issues with my real ID looking suspicious. I spoke to the gentleman who said he was an assistant manager since he had looked at my friends ID and okayed it asking what made my ID "fake" looking. He said it was the reflective film missing, mind you I have a new real nevada ID and my friends do too. We all have the same type of identification cards, im clearly just confused and personally believe they should be more educated on the newer IDs the dmv is distributing and that not all IDs look the same. The asian girl behind the bar looked younger than me, if not she looked my age im sure we have the same TYPE of ID. Im just upset because It was a special occasion we were celebrating and nobody was of help. Overall bad service and wasnt willing to try and handle the situation. Please train your employees on what newer IDs look like. --- You can reach out to me personally to address how I was trolling and harassing your team members. Bear with me for a bit... San Diego is a microbeer mecca. Able Baker is as close to San Diego-quality microbrew as it gets. That's a high compliment. Plus, the added bonus of the Vegas climate and with an excellent outdoor area and a wide open inside seating area that couldn't have been designed better. Their offerings, as a 20+-year San Diegan (no apologies if you find this arrogant) are top mark. Solid regular offerings that skate the Cold War-ish arms race of hoppyness that has infected many of my favorite SD haunts, as well as a laudable and regular seleone-offs of barrel-aged specials and choices of special brews (chosen by their regulars (the 'Trinity Guild'). Some misses, some hits, but always solid efforts. Big fan of this place. Parking in the newly gentrifying 'Arts District' can be a problem, so park at the Strat and Uber for $10. Bar service is generally excellent (BTW, they serve a full cocktail bar option if any in your party aren't into microbrew). Very good, though not inexpensive, food options as well. Highly recommended, especially for San Diegan beer snobs that want to escape the Hoppy War and enjoy a very well made microbrew in Sin City away from the Strip prices and the Fremont Street grossness. This place is the 'Gaslamp' 10 years ago (as it should have been, but wasn't quite). Worth the trip away from your chosen megaresort. read more
