Qmotion Sport And Fitness - Free weights area

Qmotion Sport And Fitness

Mile End / Globe Town

I'm not a student, so I pay full price so I may be a bit more fussy with this…read more My needs are a bit different to most gym goers, most want to lose weight, and guys want to have big arms and big chests so they can look good. However, I train for athletic performance, and am training to be a professional MMA fighter. My fighting gym does not have any weights facilities, so I thought I'd join Qmotion. For my needs I require access to powerlifting areas, bench press and squat rack. I saw the pictures on the website displaying some pretty impressive equipment for my needs, however after I joined it became clear to me that those areas are not available "without any supervision", I'm a 25 year old male, why would I need "supervision"... WHat I realsied that meant was that the area was reservbed specifically for the uni rugby team.. If this area is restricted for the rugby team, then why have to on the website, making it seem that it's available for the public. After having got my membership and found all this out, within 30 minutes I spoke to the manager, and asked to get a refund because I got a different impression of the place before I signed up. SHe refused to budge. So now I'm lumbered with a contract to a gym, that does not have the facilities I need. The gym also has a huge lack of plates and barbells for the free weights area, I was shocked to find that I couldn't use the squat rack because the barbell was used by someone for deadlifts... I found it diffiuclt to piece together my barbells because the 5kg plates were nowhere to be seen, and I had to go scouting and collect all the 1.25kg pates from the gym for my lifts. I don't doubt for a second that they do have plates around but the elitist rugby team have poached all of them for themselves in their little elitist portion of the gym that nobody else is allowed to go to. If you're not a student, go elswhere, fitness first, muscleworks etc come to mind, if you're a student by all means take advantage of the £89 for 6 months deal, you really CAN'T go wrong for that price. I'm really not a happy bunny.

The QMotion gym is really a great gym, especially for students. While the price might seem a little…read morebit expensive (it's cheaper for students, and even cheaper for Queen Mary students), it is completely worth it. As well as having all the newest cardio equipment, QMotion also offers a variety of classes, such as Yoga, Pilates, Kickboxing, Dance Aerobics, Spinning, Salsa and many more. The classes are fun and energetic. There is also a squash court, so, if you have rackets, you can play squash anytime you want. The woman's only gym is also a great addition, especially for those who have always shied away from the gym due to religious or self confidence reasons. While smaller, the woman's gym offers all the same cardio equipment, and some weights. Overall, this is a great gym, for anyone.

Once you do manage to cancel your membership, and follow it up by cancelling your direct debit, they behave as if the cancellation never happened. Eventually they will send a debt collection agency after you to recover the money that was never owed to them in the first place! Save yourself the trouble. Lift furniture at home or go for a jog. You might have a stroke after having to deal with this shady business.

He put a lot of disconcerting emphasis on weight loss. Now, I don't know about you but going to the gym is not about weight loss for me, it's about keeping fit and staying in shape - maintenance, people, maintenance. Still, that didn't put me off. So, I signed up. But was disappointed to see the limited range of classes on offer. I like a good range of yoga and pilates classes. I was told about a start up pack which I was told included a free personal training session and something to do with aromatherapy??? Anyway, I booked the personal training session right away with a view to getting a work out routine. So, I had a session with Luke who showed me how to use the cross-tainer - I've been going to the gym for over 15 years!!! I think I know how to use a cross-trainer! Then got me to do 3 exercises (Lunges and 2 resistance exercises for my shoulder). Then walked me over to a table and discussed signing up for a personal training programme. I declined. 3 exercises is NOT a work out. It's a decent sized gym with a fair amount of cardio and weight machines. But given the limited range of classes and the laughable work out guidance my money would be wasted here. I wouldn't use the place often enough. So, guess who cancelled their membership and took their business elsewhere? Moi!

I have been a member since its opening in August 2011. It is probably the best gym (for me) in the…read morearea. Arranged over 2 floors with well over 30 running machines, 25 bikes and cross trainers, there is almost always an empty machine. The upstairs weights room is a festival of testosterone, full of locals blasting those quads THATS IT LOUIE, I often hear in the background! Its busy and has 3 studios, but most importantly its CHEAP, and I mean cheap. This does attract all sorts but for me its too convenient and easy to pass on. The first month it was like being in a nightclub, no joke. There were so many people just hanging around it was insane. It has calmed down alot since then and its almost civilised. Recommended. NB Area is wrong and dont know how to fix it. It should be N22.

Easygym claim you can book unlimited classes for a fee thats around £36 per month, yet the booking…read moresystem only allows you to book three classes at any point in time. Bookings open a week before class, and some classes get very busy. This means that as soon as your three favorite classes are finished, you must instantly go online and rebook them or else they fill up super fast. So that means if i regularly book two classes on a monday and one on tuesday, I cannot book anything for Wednesday, Thursday, Friday Saturday or Sunday. So actually, this is not unlimited at all. All other gyms I know allow you to book as many other classes as you want, and they simply take measures for no shows. Easygym should do the same rather than try and cheat their customers. If the booking system is open for all at the same time (it is) then its fair game and anyone can book whatever they want. Not a good system and management should allow us to book what we want , and simply take measures for no shows.

I worked with a personal trainer, Rowan Byrne, who was funny, intelligent, very knowledgable, and professional. He set up a fantastic workout routine for me and, although it was tough, helped me feel healthier. Within a month, I was noticing changes in my body. Yoga with Zoe was one of my weekly treats to myself. She is a fantastic yoga instructor. She knows her poses well and is great at pacing a class so that you feel stretched, warmed up. focused, and completely present. Be warned though: the word is out and her classes get packed. Please get there early so as not to disturb the others. Finally, Sapan, the owner. What a great guy. He truly achieved his goal of creating a work out space where people can find and build community. The pricing is not only fair, it's downright cheap for the attention clients receive. He's alway smiling and around the studio. He's helpful if you have any questions about anything at all. I can't praise this place enough. If you're at all close or thinking of joining a gym, this is the place. Stop looking elsewhere. I am now living back in Los Angeles, and I miss LFFS daily.

Moved to London - check! Found a new nest in Limehouse -…read morecheck! Stocked up on booze - check! Signed up for a gym - ............. check!! Being new to this land of strange English vocabulary and fried chicken at every block, I needed to find a new place to get my eye-of-the-tiger fitness on! Especially working at Canary Wharf there were so many places to choose from! HOW TO CHOOSE! Well... I can tell you what's important for me: Price: Some of these gym prices in London could be mistaken for home mortgages... Douchebags: You know these guys... they walk around the gym acting like they own it while they chat with people or use their phone whilst hogging 3 machines at a time... I need a place with as LEAST number of d-bags as possible Screamers: Keep calm and scream less... says the queen. I'm not a fan of super serious places where people need to scream and grunt as they lift weights too heavy for them Ooooooohhhhmmmmmmmmm.... Ooooooohhhhmmmmmmm - Love me some Yoga. I need some classes to get my downward dog ON! Alternative Workouts: I really like to diversify my workouts so the more kettlebells, trx, rings, plyo, etc stuff a gym has, the better! After going through these criteria, the best choice in my area was........... ..............drum roll please......... Limehouse Marina Elite (which I shall now refer to as LiME) The price is a little higher than I wanted and after telling the gym this, we worked together to find a price that was agreeable for both of us. Now with the unpleasantries of price negotiation out of the way, I can tell you some things about this gym: Electronic keypad locks (hallelujah I don't have to bring a lock with me) Towels provided (again hallelujah I don't have to bring a towel with me!) can you sense my laziness here... Fingerprint entry (last hallelujah and a throw-my-hands-in-the-air AMEN I don't have to bring a pass with me) By now, my extreme laziness is fully transparent At the busiest times, I think I've seen maybe 20 people in there... so it's a PERFECT size almost family-like gym. Sometimes I have the entire gym to myself! WEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! This place is always squeaky clean and has all new shizzle for me to get on my fitness fizzle The oh so zen locker room area has nature sounds, plenty of lockers (this is a big problem for some gyms), always smells like tea tree (instead of being forced to smell the hard labors of others), nice showers and of course a nice steam and sauna room to relax those muscles after a hard workout! I would say more things I like about this gym, but I think it's time to get off my lazy ass and work up a sweat over at LiME!!
