I left a wool jacket with some surface items that needed brushing in addition to the cleaning. When I picked up the jackets, it was clear that very little brushing had occurred. This begs the question of whether it was even cleaned....when I voiced my concerns to them about the lack of cleaning done -- he just smiled and nodded. I thought maybe there is a language issue and asked if he understook what I had said -- he said he did. So it's clear now, they just don't care if they clean it enough or correctly. Certainly not worth the $20+ I paid for cleaning that I need to get done again.... I won't be back. read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR LEATHER HERE. They ruined two irreplaceable leather jackets I brought them. Absolutely ruined with markings and spots all over both of them. Would not pay for the damage and would not refund the "cleaning" (aka destroying) cost. Instead they told us the leather was too thin to be cleaned. quoted me $25 for an alteration, ran my card, then when I came to pick it up he said I hadn't paid yet and made me pay $33 for the same item. My son put 2 coats in the cleaners. My son told the owner to please take extra care to 1 of the coats. For 1 it is very expensive and second his dad passed away recently and he gave him the coat. It has sentimental value. The guy assured him he would. When my son returned in 2 days schedule time to pick up the coats the owner said he could not find it and there was nothing he could do about it. He said he must have given it away. This is a poor excuse for a business. They steal your clothes and there is nothing you can do about it. Yes I can iam writing this post so people know and don't trust him. I prefer to visit a place at least 5 times before reviewing but I feel compelled to review this places after only 2 visits because the current reviews I believe are unfair. Also, both times I have been in here, the staff has been dealing with impatient and unabashedly racist customers. This place is great! Don't let the reviews fool you. I don't understand the hate! When I lived in the neighborhood, I went here on an almost weekly basis for about 5 years or so. The couple who runs the dry cleaners is very sweet and appreciative of my business -- every Christmas, they would give me a lint roller. Per the other complaints, there was only one time in which they forgot to dry clean my clothes, and the owner made an exception to stay open late in order to clean my clothes. And as for the prices, PLEASE. Try getting your clothes dry cleaned on Hawthorne, Division, or the Pearl before you complain about these guys. I'm seriously considering just driving here every Saturday so that these guys can clean my clothes at a reasonable price. Look, I don't believe in star inflation and am often a negative nancy, but this place doesn't merit any hate. Just a sweet, family owned business trying to make do. Support your local business! I have been a loyal customer for almost a year. Last month I discovered a shirt was lost. I spoke with gentleman he assured me they would look for shirt and compensate me if shirt was not found after a week. During this time I also dropped of two pair of pants to be hemmed. When I picked up pants one pair was a little short but acceptable. The other pair was completely wrong! On leg was longer than the other and overall still to long. Today I stopped in to discuss shirt and pants. The man proceeded to yell at me and tell me I was a bad customer and he didn't want my business. I brought my daughter's wedding dress and my dress to be steamed because they had some wrinkles. When I picked them up, the wedding dress looked slightly better, but my dress had creases ironed into it, where it was supposed to be smooth. Yes, they are pleasant owners and yes, their work, prices and turn-around are reasonable. But, I posted of losing 3 shirts in 2014-15. Several weeks ago, it was a new pair of $120 slacks replaced with some red Banana Rep pants that would have fit me in 8th grade (I hope you got em back). No clue about what happens to this stuff and there's really nothing I can do. I had begun to track the # of items dropped but with 20 pieces, I didn't pay attention to content this time. Would not recommend this service. Fractured buttons on two dress shirts; cuff and torso. When presented with this, the owner stated that the buttons were "cheap". The shirts are custom, made in Hong Kong and ~$250.00 each. Perhaps the buttons were cheap, but I doubt it. I had to persuade the owner to repair the buttons. The owner also informed me that because the shirts had been in the shop for two months, I had "...almost lost them", and he would have "..gave them away" and wouldn't have contacted me. Buttons aside, that's intentional and careless and no way to run a business. (Note: I did take a holiday and then had an injury. I agree, two months is a long time for clothes storage, but the unwillingness to contact me is inexcusable.) read more

I don't like bashing a business. I've always thought their customer service was lacking - mostly the man that is there. There are two women that are much friendlier. They do an okay job in cleaning, etc., but the man is so off-putting. The kicker for me today is my strong belief that they have misplaced at least two of my shirts, if not more, since I've been using them. When I called to inquire about this today, the man that I believe owns the place seemed not to give a fuck at all. Could be a language issue, but things like that seem to come through without words. My brother is getting married this weekend and our daughters are going to be in the wedding. Their puffy little white dresses came in the mail and it took me until today to realize they are pretty wrinkled. Not possessing one of those cool steamers to get wrinkles out, I started calling around to dry cleaners to try and find someone who could dewrinkle the dresses today. Apparently that's a tall and expensive order! One shop quoted me $15-25/dress and at least a three day turn around. Oy. Enter Abe's. $10 per dress, it took them less than 15 minutes, and they fixed a jewel that was coming off that (no surprise here) I hadn't noticed. I'm super impressed. Been going here 8 years. They've never lost anything. Cleaning is ready on time. Prices are reasonable. Alterations are competent. The service is competent and efficient. It is a family operation. English is not the first language of the proprietors so speak to them accordingly. I trust these folks and they do a fine job. I'm living in Oregon City now and I still bring my cleaning and alterations here on a regular basis. Abe's cleaners is by far the most expensive dry cleaners I have ever been to. They also said my clothing would be done "anytime on Saturday" and when I showed up around noon nothing was done. They asked me to come back on Monday and still charged me $36 for two plain dresses and a Halloween costume. I do not recommend Abe's. I am sure you will find better prices and punctuality elsewhere. Excellent. Abe's is now my go-to cleaners. I needed a suit cleaned that had some unidentifiable stains on it from a trip I took to a wedding in the Andes--and I needed it cleaned faster than normal. The incredible and friendly staff at Abe's hooked me up, had a quick turnaround, and it was cheap! My experience with them was excellent. I'm completely confounded by some of the low reviews. I dropped off a Banana Republic jacket that need cleaned and the belt shortened. Then life got crazy and I totally forgot to go back. No reminder call. When I went back the daughter looked up my name and went to carousel but started talking to her mom. I could tell something wasn't right. The Mom comes over to tell me that it has been donated already and that I had only 30 days to come and retrieve it. She insisted that it stated all of that on the back of the receipt which reads, "unclaimed garments will be handled in accordance with state regulations." I don't know what the state regulations are! She said they would look in the storage and call me but mostly acted like it was my fault and too bad. No call, of course. I guess I will have to leave my neighborhood to get my things cleaned from now on. read more

I have found my local dry cleaner. Abe's is timely, gets my clothes cleaned properly, are nice, and are inexpensive. I am not sure what else you can ask for when it comes to a dry cleaner. I really enjoy taking my clothes there and I know I will always be cared for when I do so. read more

Service is fairly prompt, 3 day turnaround, only available to pickup after 5pm which can be difficult as they close at 6:30. Prices are reasonable. Their ironing of dress shirts could be improved. read more

I NEVER write reviews but I am really upset! I danced really hard and long at a wedding and my silk dress (which I love) got very sweaty. A couple days later, I brought it into Abe's for cleaning. When I picked it up, it looked nice but.... I just thought I'd check the smell. WOW! It stinks like BO! I brought it back and they guy at the front desk handed me a slip and said to come back Thursday. That was it. He didn't say anything else. I just picked it up a second time and it still smells. As a matter of fact, the whole dress smells like it was hung up in a stale restaurant or a kitchen (not in a good way). It shouldn't smell like anything, right? It is NOT my idea of clean and I wonder if they did anything other than steam it. I am never going back. I can't wear the dress again like it is and now a couple weeks later, I wonder if the smell is setting in. read more

I moved from the Woodstock neighboorhood but am considering schlepping my dry-cleanables all the way from downtown Portland over to Abe's because I know they will do a beautiful job. I've brought them 2 cream-colored coats (one wool, one down-filled) in the past and they've gotten all the stains and soiling out WITHOUT turning the cream color to yellow or overworking the fabric. Some other cleaners I've used in the past leave a yellow cast on whitish clothes...maybe b/c they are re-using the solvent?? Only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is b/c their turnaround time is okay, but not particularly speedy and their prices are fair, but not any bargain. read more

Worst dry cleaning service I've ever received. Used them a couple of times and will never go back. They lost two pairs of pants and 1 sweater. They kept saying they would look in the back and call me. They never called and after the third time I went in they told me I had already picked them up!? No apologies or even an attempt at a remedy.
