I reached out to this orthopedic doctor for a very simple request: I already had a VA diagnosis of…read moretendinosis in my right ankle, and all I needed was for the doctor to review an Independent Medical Opinion letter and state whether he agreed with it based on his medical expertise. This is a common, straightforward step for veterans working through the VA disability process. Unfortunately, my experience with the office was extremely disappointing. The front desk staff spoke to me in a rude and dismissive tone from the beginning. I explained multiple times that I did not need another diagnosis--I already had one from the VA--and only needed a medical agreement or disagreement with the IMO. The secretary insisted the doctor "wouldn't do anything unless he could bill the VA and give his own diagnosis," completely ignoring what I actually needed and showing no willingness to help. Veterans already face enough hurdles in the disability process. Finding a doctor who is willing to provide a simple professional opinion shouldn't be this difficult. The lack of courtesy and the refusal to assist unless they could bill for additional services was unprofessional and disheartening. I would not recommend this office to any veteran needing support with VA-related documentation or respectful, patient-centered care.

Took lots of time with me to listen and understand my problems, did X-rays, reviewed all my medical documentation, determined that the cause of my pain is the IM rod in my tibia, was able to give me a detailed and logical explanation for why he could not do surgery to remove the rod, and gave me suggestions for how to manage the pain given that surgery was not an option. Night and day experience. If you need an OS in Lansing, I highly recommend Dr. Waterbrook.

She was screaming bloody murder because he was cutting all the way through the cast and into her skin with the saw. She was cut by the blade 10 times. The cuts are 0.5 to 2.5 inches long and several are quite deep. My daughter is now terrified of doctors and I can't even sleep at night knowing I took her there.

I've been dealing with shoulder pain for 5 months and he's just making me wait too long to get answers I need. I don't appreciate doctors who try to give you the run around. Don't recommend this office at all for Dr. McDermott. I had already waited 6 weeks to see him and should have had a mri done while waiting to see him so now I would know my answers I needed. So now I have to wait another month to figure out what the problem is. He's not helpful! Getting refered to someone else because I don't trust this guy. He's terrible!

Dr. Dodds surgery caused PERMANENT nerve damage and severe pain in my right arm and hand. I went to…read moreDr. Dodds in 2015 and indicated that it felt like I had a bone chip in my elbow. Dr. Dodds didn't perform a simple x-ray and misdiagnosed the bone chip as a damaged ulnar nerve. She then performed an unnecessary ulnar nerve transposition (nerve relocation) on a healthy nerve which resulted in severe nerve damage and indescribable pain. A month later She attempted to correct the damage with another Ulnar nerve surgery which ended up causing more nerve damage and pain. The Mayo Clinic performed a 3rd surgery 6 mo later to stop the nerve from dying but the damage was mostly irreversible. Three years later, I have permanent nerve damage with constant numbness/pain/limited mobility/cramping in my right arm and hand as a direct result of Dr. Dodds procedures. I'm right handed and I now have large scar from my wrist to my underarm. The bone chip was found easily by another Dr. a few months ago and was successfully removed without incident. Consult an expert and get a second opinion before allowing Dr. Dodds to perform surgery on you.
