My appointment was on a Saturday, super early in the morning (8am) and I was able to get parking easy enough. It's free on the weekends which is a huge help as I had forgotten to bring cash with me that morning. Walking in, it was like a ghost town, but I was able to speak to the information desk personel and was pointed in the direction I needed to go. Since I was early, they were able to take me in before the person who was meant to be there but never showed up. Score. I was taken in to the MRI room by a really nice lady and was told exactly what was going to happen. After I was put in to place on the bed, I was asked if I wanted to listen to music since the machine is quite loud. Since it was around Christmas time when I was there, they had Christmas music to listen to which made my day. i was in and out of there in about 45 minutes, which wasn't too painfully slow. The staff here are really friendly and helpful and I didn't mind my visit in the slightest.

My gran was in ward 2b of Crosshouse hospital with a broken hip. Although the hip was healing fine gran had other complications which they seemed ill-equipped to deal with. We found the staff to be uncaring, unprofessional, uninterested and downright unsympathetic to my grans needs. If you asked for help with something they were too busy, but they seemed to have time to congregate and talk about what they were doing at the weekend. My gran was very poorly and did not receive the care she deserved, she has since sadly died. I had a kind of rosy picture of what nursing was like but the nurses in that ward seemed just to be pen pushers, too busy with paperwork and not enough time looking after the sick. I found the staff very obnoxious, the nurses and the auxiliaries, with one nurse in particular called Kathryn who seemed full of her own importance and would give incorrect information on the phone saying things like my gran had a good night, is fine this morning etc. but when my mum went in she found that gran had had the opposite kind of night. It is just so unacceptable that relatives are told this rubbish and totally unacceptable to treat patients in this way. I am so sad at my gran's treatment in ward 2b. it has been a terrible time for our family that my grans last days were so awful for her.

One of the receptionists can be a bit ornery at times, but if you're nice, so is she. A while back, they updated their check in procedure with a touch screen check in. Welcome to the modern world Broomhill Practice. I'm moving soon, and out of the postcode that they accept as patients. It will be sad to leave, but that's how things work here in Scotland. I think over the years we have visited almost every ward in this place…read more The hospital gets a bad reputation locally, but at the same time when there was talk that it was to shut, the local community rallied round to save it, so it can't be all bad. Most of our recent visits have been to Accident and Emergency (A&E) and I have to say it's a lot better than I remember it years ago. Sometime it's not been the cleanest and sometimes the staff don't do things in the order you'd expect, but after a 12 hour shift I think I'd be the same. The staff in the Intensive care (ICU) have a very difficult job and are really sympathetic to the families, giving them loads of time and space at a time that is truly difficult and harrowing. No matter where you are in the hospital there are loads of hand sanitiser to try and minimise the risk of infection and reminders everywhere so you don't forget that it's important to avoid patients catching unwanted infections. If you've dealing with issues over multiple wards, you'll find that the doctors tend to specialise and don't appear to be able to deal with issues out with their own speciality/department, which can be very frustrating as it should be simple to get some cross departmental cooperation and patient care. The car parking is difficult during the traditional visiting hours, often spilling out onto the neighbouring streets. Some wards have, in recent years, tried to move away from these traditional hours, so you may be in luck and be able to attend loved ones at hours that are more suitable for you, your family, the person your visiting and all with easier parking. There are lifts within the central corridor of the hospital at both the front and the back of the hospital, which will take you to the wards you're visiting, with loads of signs to help you get where you need to go without too much need to navigate the maze of corridors. Occasionally there are periods that the hospital is having ongoing maintenance, but these are usually highlighted and with new additions, such as the Maggie's Centre and the New Beatson, the Hospital is providing local services that the community need on their doorstep. There is a RVS (WRVS) tea room / snack area on the ground floor as well as a small WH Smiths which are open for limited hours during the day. If you are spending time there there is also a canteen on the basement of the building, but as It's some time since I've visited there I'll leave that to a later review or maybe someone else can review it. For those with disabilities there are disabled parking in the car park at the front door, but these fill fast so I'd advise to try to arrive early and grab something at the tea room or the shop before your visit. For those using public transport, there appears to be fairly regular bus services running and there is a bus stop across from the front of the hospital. The local train station (Coatdyke) is a short(wish) walk from the back of the hospital. Overall, the place could be better, but it is improving all the time and with staff working long hours and with NHS budgets the way they are, I'm glad it's still here as it's a vital life line for anyone who needs it.

Staff were all very pleasant and were always loads of nurses milling around if you needed anything. Only major issue was it took him around 7 hours to get released after they advised him that he could go home as needed to wait for a prescription coming from Pharmacy. It is depressing having to sit around in hospital for 7 hours when you know that you are going home and should try and sort this out as obviously too long a delay

Recently visited this clinic for help with a persistent verruca that my daughter had, we had tried…read moreeverything over the 2 years she has had it and Karen the owner suggested we tried something new called needling, we went ahead and although my daughter experienced some pain apparently this is not always the case some people experience little discomfort. The help and information Karen has supplied us with is second to none, nothing is too much bother. She is absolutely delighted with the procedure and 2 weeks later although still very much visible she is sure that the verruca will be no more in less than a few more weeks. I absolutely believe her, if she says it will be gone then I am sure that the verruca would not dare to defy her. Would not hesitate to recommend this clinic to anyone. A big thumbs up from us.

I made an appt for my mum who is in care home with dementia to attend Footprints. I made this at…read morethe Burnside branch who were full so put the appt to Muirend branch. This appt was for a Monday late afternoon. I received a phone call from Mums care home (Monday AM) saying my mum was unwell and wouldn't be able to attend, the appt would need to be rescheduled. On phoning footprints, they were extremely inflexible. They cited their 24 hour cancellation policy (which I wasn't informed about at the point of making the appointment) and the appointment would need to be paid in full. I asked how 24 hour policy worked on a Monday when they were closed the day before, apparently you were to leave a message on their answer machine, again something I wasn't told about. Since I don't live with my mum and being in a care home her health can be variable, I informed them as soon as I could which was 11am after getting a voicemail from her nurse at 10.50 am, as stated the appt was 4.15 the same day. I understand businesses can have cancellation issues, in this case there were clear mitigating circumstances that the staff did not empathize with, were out with my control and it's difficult to predict the health of patients with dementia. I cannot recommend either the burnside or the muirend branch after this experience, I would avoid.

Doctors highly professional, ask the right questions, listen to your response and give excellent advice. They are quick to refer to relevant specialist where appropriate. Clinic staff are also well trained, polite and professional. You may have to wait a bit beyond your appointment time but remember it may be you that the Dr. spends a bit more time with too. There are times they are extremely busy but they always try to get you an appointment as soon as possible or a home visit if you are incapacitated and can't make it to the surgery.

Most doctors have a very poor manner in dealing with patients, acting as if our presence was an inconvenience, rushing through each appointment with solemn faces. We would be heavily chastised and even refused appointments for being no more than 3 minutes late, and yet were usually expected to wait at least 10 minutes after appointment time to actually be seen, which happens yes, but the attitude towards such minor lateness shows they value their own time much more than ours as patients. The best doctors we both dealt with were always locums, who would show the gulf in service with both bedside manner and time given. Receptionists, with the exception of one that we encountered were all severely rude, hugely poor in dealing with the public in person, and would always make you feel unwanted or like a waste of time. Again only seemed to value their own time. Would make you feel stupid for asking questions. Got to the point we actually put off going to the doctor because of the atmosphere and treatment we would receive, when we should feel happy and free to visit our doctor with any health concerns. Genuinely seems as if everyone has given up, doesn't care, and just does their job because it's their job - 'careerists'. No level of empathy or understanding to be found anywhere. The positive difference was obvious in almost every way once we switched doctors. Do not recommend if you want a doctor that cares.

They are confrontational to the extent they are aggressive, especially when patients know and quote their rights. Patients do have to quote their rights because the procedures the admin., staff quote do not complement our N.H.S., rights and surgeries responsibilities to the N.H.S., and indeed patients. There is no point complaining to the practice. The practice manager ignores telephone messages and visits. When you prompt her reply via correspondence to the partner G.P., she will simply tell you to go elsewhere. There is not much in the way of confidentiality at the front desk. The receptionists discuss triage with each other at the front desk for all to hear. I can tell you several patients names and health problems they have because I have heard such discussions. Of course you must select a G.P., based on their clinical ability and not their admin., staff's ability. However, before signing up be aware it is likely you will have to complain about the support staff. I doubt you will ever have to complain about the G.P.s; I have consulted every one and they are all been attentive, deliberate and correct. One other thing. The prescription service is awful and will be an issue. Kelvin Medical Centre are very selective about the N.H.S., prescription services they provide. P.s., had one experience with the nurse that was deeply unfavourable. In the end I had to insist she was supervised by a G.P., in carrying out the most basic of procedures, a procedure that auxiliaries carryout in hospital. A.
