This company is, in my opinion, the worst I have ever had to the displeasure of dealing with. One of the most egregious issues I experienced was the theft of my jump box and a case of water from my car by one of their drivers. Moreover, their customer service is lacking, communication is unclear, and pickup times are often delayed, resulting in additional costs. The company's contract with the DC government and MPD appears to be exploited for their benefit, as they hold vehicles for extended periods and create difficulties for owners trying to retrieve their property. To make matters worse, they attempt to charge for their own negligence. DO NOT USE THIS TOWING! THEY ARE STEALERS! ABC TOWING, DC 2214 Channing St NE Washington, DC 20018 I got into a car accident and my car was towed using this towing company in the DC location. I picked my car up the next day to find ALL OF MY BAGS (purse, wallet included) ransacked. The driver who took my car in "KD" (signature he signed with) stole $1300 in cash from my wallet that I had saved for rent. When I told them that one of the guys who was helping me stated that he would put it in the note and someone would contact me. By the end of the week, NO ONE had contacted me and when I called back on Friday, they stated that the guy who took my payment and said he would input the note was just a "Lot Man" and "did not work there". So why did he take my ID and payment?? This place is HORRIBLE and deserves to be shut down given how shady they are. Hopefully, Karma is coming for whoever "KD" is as I now am late on rent and struggling to earn back the rent money he stole from me. I had a terrible experience with ABC Towing. I got a flat tire and needed a tow, but the whole process was extremely frustrating and unprofessional, especially when it came to pricing. I asked the tow truck driver multiple times before they even loaded my car how much the service would cost, and they kept dodging my question. The driver just said, "You'll be notified of the price soon," but didn't give me a straight answer. While we were on the way to the tire shop, I asked again, 2-3 more times, about the cost, and the driver still claimed there were no updates. It wasn't until we finally arrived at the tire shop that the driver suddenly received a text with the total: $375! Completely outrageous for a 5-8 minute drive. I spoke with Richard, their dispatcher, and found out they charge $160 per hour, but they also make you pay for the wait time before the truck even arrives. No one explained that beforehand. When I complained about their lack of transparency, Richard tried shifting onus. Staff at the tire shop even mentioned that ABC Towing has a reputation for overcharging their customers, and many places typically charge much less--around $180 to load the car and a fair rate per mile. Reading the reviews ABC towing has, I certainly see why they have such a bad reputation. DON'T TRUST ABC TOWING. They're not upfront with their prices and seem to exploit customers in need. It is unbelievable to me that this place is an operating business. I was never notified of being towed, I only found out when my car wasn't where I left it. They're not open on Sundays, and they charge you per day your car is on the lot. So if you want to pick up your car on a Sunday because they never told you it was towed, you can't. And you have to pay for that day. When you get there, the "office" is the saddest excuse for a shed with rotting stairs, a collapsing roof, and plywood flooring. There is no way it is up to whatever health and safety codes it should be. Once you pay for your car, they'll then tell you it's too far back in the lot and it'll take a few hours to get out. This is after paying for transportation there (ya know, cuz your car got towed...) and after calling to confirm you can come pick it up. They say they'll call you when the car gets out. That is also a lie. You'll have to call back to see if you can pick it up, which is a 50/50 guess at this point since you tried to call and confirm that once already. 3 Ubers later maybe you can get your car, and if it doesn't have any damage from the tow you should try your luck in the lottery. I try to go get it out and he refuses to let me pay for it. He keeps suggesting I let my insurance release and send a tow to transport to collision center. I reach out to my Insurance and they're telling them a price that 5x times what they told me and they said they will be transporting the vehicle. However they told me to have my insurance to send a tow. After confronting them and after they hung up on me multiple times they finally came up with some bullsh*t excuse to tell me about releasing my truck. After almost a week of it sitting in the lot it's finally out of the tow lot. They also damaged my tires, wheels, and windows. Do not just pay them what they ask for (they tried to charge me ~3x the amount), do not pay cash if you don't want to (even if they insist), and do not feel pressure to anyone "expecting a nice tip just to get the car out". Call DC Department of Public Works Customer Service Center at (202) 541-6083 to understand your rights in the unfortunate event that ABC tows your car. My car was not starting so I called AAA. After a technician came out, they called this company to tow my car. After an hour and a half of waiting, AAA called to see how long was the wait time. They said 20 minutes. After another hour and a half of waiting, AAA called and said they couldn't get a hold of the company at all. So after 4 hours of waiting, I went with another towing company which showed up promptly in 30 minutes. Worst experience with a towing service! Crooks! My college-aged kid (female) broke down in a parking garage in downtown D.C. during the day with a dead battery. While on vacation, I called the tow service who was referred to me by another tow company in Silver Spring, Md.  (recommended by my personal mechanic). Was on hold waiting for a quote from ABC Towing  and they hung up after getting the address information without providing a quote. Sent a text to my daughter to get the estimate for my vehicle and pay with her card once she got the estimate.  Tow truck driver arrived to tow, she asked "do I pay now?' and the driver said "no." She asked him what he was doing on a piece of paper and he said he was figuring out the mileage ($225). He did not provide an estimate nor did she have a chance to sign off. The driver towed the vehicle to my mechanic's home an hour away (who was not home at the time) and charged an extra $300 in addition to $5/mile, plus they damaged the side wall of the tire, likely with the dolly (a common mishap). The driver knocked on the mechanic's home residence with the vehicle in tow and the wife answered. She paid the driver in cash without my approval and was given the ABC receipt. Despite photos we had taken, ABC Towing took no responsibility for the tire damage which required a new tire ($150), nor the overcharging. Instead, they continued to rationalize in several conversations why the overcharge occurred: (1) the driver must have added a tip; (2) the extra charge was for the dolly used in the garage; (3) that was a 2-hour job.  Tried to resolve after-the-fact for partial reimbursement and tire damage with multiple ABC parties (the owner would not engage) and was unsuccessful with Sam Abul, Richard Aburish, abctowingdc@yahoo.com.  Towing is regulated in DC. Know your rights "Owner's Bill of Rights for Towed Vehicles" (google) whether you have a private or public tow and know who to contact if you are swindled. While I filed a complaint, ABC was dishonest with the mediator. You can file a complaint with the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA) dcra@dc.gov and if you are not satisfied, write to the DCSA Director and the DC Mayor and/or consider filing with the DC claims court. The towing business may be fined OR at the very least will go on record for future incidents (there have been many). Regulated businesses are regulated for a reason. Lastly, demand a WRITTEN estimate, NEVER pay cash for a towing service, and take PHOTOS to protect yourself and your vehicle. The employee was smoking a blunt when I arrived, ran my card for more than I was quoted over the phone, and refused to return my car, stating "it'd be like an hour" until the tow truck arrived. I mentioned that I'd provided notice when I'd be arriving and the employee stated "people say they're coming by all of the time and then don't, I can't shuffle cars around like that." ***ZERO STARS*** To make a long story short GM ordered a tow truck that broke down on the way to us. Then they assigned us to this company. We were assured pickup within 2 hours even though that was 2 hours later already. 10 minutes before the end of the 2 hours I have one of my managers call them on my behalf. The guy answers and rudely says that we have no scheduled pickup, and if we wanted a tow not to call back until we are ready to schedule and pay, even though GM was taking care of it. I call myself having to leave the meeting i was in to deal with this only to get the same guy on the phone. He told me flat out that there was no order in his system, and no way he would do it w/o taking payment upon pickup. While I am explaining this to him I get an automated phone call from GM saying that ABC towing at (lists his phone number,) is scheduled to arrive within 15 minutes. He says that isn't his company and there is nothing in his system. He tells me "I have NOTHING in my system so it will be $125 plus mileage or he can't help me." At that point I hung up and called GM. They put me on hold and called ABC towing. GM confirmed on the phone with ABC that their system shows he received and confirmed his fax. He denied it. While on the phone GM sends another fax, he says hold on for a second other line, accepts the fax and then lies on the phone to GM saying he didn't receive the fax. GM then gets back on the phone with me which its 3:35 at this point and tells me they don't know what to do. They can only cancel that call and set up a new one. While I don't blame GM for this, and there is only so much they can do, this is by far one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. I believe his name was Amin but due to how long it took him to tell me he probably made it up or blamed someone else. NEVER EVER EVER USE THIS COMPANY. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. Literally one of the worst tow truck companies I've ever dealt with in DC. Was dispatched to them through my roadside assistance and dealt with inaccurate tow time arrival estimates, an extremely rude owner called "Nick," and drivers that will not only tell you they'll "get there when they get there." You're better off pushing your car up a steep hill alone than using this company. It may be in your best interest to scroll down and read the not recommended reviews (there's a button on the bottom).
