Where do I start? Well... my great grandpa left a bunch of old coins with me after he passed. I didn't know really what it was or how much it was worth. So, I did some research, started looking up coin buyers, and began to call around. What I learned was for silver coins (say a 1964 quarter), buyers will pay a certain amount times the face value. If you have a lot of coins, it's a lot of money! Anyway, I called every single place I could find on Yelp. A lot of them didn't answer, didn't call back, or were just plain rude and short. Gary from ABC called me back so fast! He spent about 40 minutes of his time pretty much teaching me about coin buying. I have a knack for telling who's bullshitting and who's real! I could tell right off that Gary was a genuine person. I was proven right when he paid waaaaaaay more than any other buyers. I trusted him completely!!! And trust me, he's a pretty trusting guy with people as well! I walked away with 1K! And I still had quite a bit left for emergency money time! Sorry but this establishment doesn't deserve a . Last Saturday I wanted to get my foreign coins to this place to sale. But he didn't advertise his location. So I called him and left a message asking him where is he located. Again he wouldn't give me an address. Only ask me to email him pictures of what I got. I didn't do this because he could use my photos for his own purpose and not consult with me. Again he calls me and only says that he's located around Don Quixote. Again no address given. I guess they're great if you have something they're interested in. They advertise on Craigslist "Paying too much - 49 years of paying the highest prices..." and since stamps was one of the items they listed as buying, I emailed them asking if we could set up a time to meet, to look over some vintage stamps I inherited from my Grandfather. I also asked if he wasn't interested, maybe he could refer me to another stamp collector/dealer, that could help me. He emails back, "can you send some pictures". I oblige, and send pictures.....(crickets) No response. I email back and ask if he received the pictures?...No response. I email again asking if he didn't get the pictures, could he email with another email address (in case the first one didn't work) Nothing....no response at all. I would have been perfectly fine if he had emailed me back saying that he wasn't interested in looking at the stamps, but instead, I got blown off and he didn't bother to respond to my additional emails. With the price of gold appreciating, I decided to take some profits by selling some gold coins. I called around to different places to get some ballpark quotes. One place quoted me a spot premium of 9% and another place didn't want to deal in coins and referred me to 2 other places. I called Gary and left a message requesting a quote for my coins. He responded about 10-15 minutes later, asked me a few questions and quoted me what I felt was a very generous offer !! I took his offer and true to his word without any wheeling and dealing, we made the exchange about an hour later when he drove to my place to meet up. After my wife collected a batch of older coins, and we are now planning on retiring and moving from our home to a smaller place, we didn't know where to go or turn to. The coins my wife collected was for a silver anniversary event she had put together for her parent 25th anniversary which was 1/2 a century ago. I checked yelp and called Gary from ABC GT coins was highly rated.....I learned why. Gary was consummately honest, respectful and knowledgeable. My wife and I trusted him explicitly. I must have bothered him at least 3-4 times in one day and to be honest, I called a few other places and no one was as upfront as he was nor as helpful. He asked us what we had and what he would look at. No wasted time. All the while open and sincere. We planned a meeting that day and he was even willing to meet us where we wanted (I'm sure within reason). Who does that nowadays? When we met him for the first time, we were a little apprehensive because this was our first (and possibly our only time since we aren't rich but just had a cache of coins to get rid of to a reputable dealer) to be selling or trading coins.
