Where do I start? Well... my great grandpa left a bunch of old coins with me after he passed. I didn't know really what it was or how much it was worth. So, I did some research, started looking up coin buyers, and began to call around. What I learned was for silver coins (say a 1964 quarter), buyers will pay a certain amount times the face value. If you have a lot of coins, it's a lot of money! Anyway, I called every single place I could find on Yelp. A lot of them didn't answer, didn't call back, or were just plain rude and short. Gary from ABC called me back so fast! He spent about 40 minutes of his time pretty much teaching me about coin buying. I have a knack for telling who's bullshitting and who's real! I could tell right off that Gary was a genuine person. I was proven right when he paid waaaaaaay more than any other buyers. I trusted him completely!!! So I called him and left a message asking him where is he located. Again he wouldn't give me an address. Only ask me to email him pictures of what I got. I didn't do this because he could use my photos for his own purpose and not consult with me. Again he calls me and only says that he's located around Don Quixote. Again no address given. I guess they're great if you have something they're interested in. They advertise on Craigslist "Paying too much - 49 years of paying the highest prices..." and since stamps was one of the items they listed as buying, I emailed them asking if we could set up a time to meet, to look over some vintage stamps I inherited from my Grandfather. I also asked if he wasn't interested, maybe he could refer me to another stamp collector/dealer, that could help me. He emails back, "can you send some pictures". I oblige, and send pictures.....(crickets) No response. I email back and ask if he received the pictures?...No response. I email again asking if he didn't get the pictures, could he email with another email address (in case the first one didn't work) Nothing....no response at all. I would have been perfectly fine if he had emailed me back saying that he wasn't interested in looking at the stamps, but instead, I got blown off and he didn't bother to respond to my additional emails. With the price of gold appreciating, I decided to take some profits by selling some gold coins. I called around to different places to get some ballpark quotes. One place quoted me a spot premium of 9% and another place didn't want to deal in coins and referred me to 2 other places. I called Gary and left a message requesting a quote for my coins. He responded about 10-15 minutes later, asked me a few questions and quoted me what I felt was a very generous offer !! After my wife collected a batch of older coins, and we are now planning on retiring and moving from our home to a smaller place, we didn't know where to go or turn to. The coins my wife collected was for a silver anniversary event she had put together for her parent 25th anniversary which was 1/2 a century ago. Every coin shop I went to either had a grumpy old guy working behind the counter or a person who seemed too busy to help you. Gary was an absolute professional, he has knowledge and was super helpful in our transaction. Was suggested to allocate some assets to precious metals and was looking to get some American Silver Eagles. I've seen anywhere from $4.50-$9 over spot from the several local coin shops I went to. Gary's prices are the best bar none. I've purchased a large quantity online via Provident Metals, APMEX, and SD Bullion. They all okay pricing if you bought enough and took almost a month to get here. As of the time of my purchase, Gary had the best prices even beating out the big online distributors. I wish I've just bought from him earlier. He's now my official coin guy. Everything was in excellent condition as promised. He even brought down an expensive scanning tool to verify the authenticity of the coins. He also has a wide selection of other precious metal items that I'm looking to acquire later but you do have to let him know what you're looking for specifically. Overall an excellent experience with awesome pricing. I was hesitant in the beginning being that he doesn't actually have a brick and mortar store but I guess that saves on overhead cost which translates to better pricing. And that's alright with me!!
