If lives matter now to the point of fire, theft and death then learning about the history of our indigenous peoples where you live do to. It's an indigenous word from the Miwak people for "People of the fish" because the Mokelumne River once was home to those who found their home and living there. If you know anything about the state of California, you know so many of its original inhabitants gave it what we now find so fascinating and beautiful. I like the fresh/youthful anchors, and specifically appreciate Madison and Chris Thomas. You can tell they're both not originally from this salty, rude town but have embraced the community as their own. I like Chris' caring delivery, and his respectful transitions/hand offs to other colleagues, or how he will acknowledge them if a bit cuts the field reporter off. Classy. So now we have Elisha Machado as anchor, fresh from her stint at Fox61 in Connecticut, preceded by her stint at KION in Salinas. She is so inauthentic that it is hard to watch. It's like a high school student pretending to be a news anchor. Her voice is somewhere between a squeak and a squeal, and her countenance reveals total false confidence. Check out her Instagram page (@elishamachadotv) and you'll see she loves sweets, dancing with her news crew, and herself as she parades her sophomoric version of fashion sense. She presents as pretty shallow for having a political science degree from Boston University. I watched some of her clips from other stations and she ad libs like someone very uncomfortable with unscripted banter. It makes you wonder if she has the intellect or critical thinking skills prerequisite for serious journalism. I do not like leaving flaming posts, but this station has to own their talent choices, And Ms. Machado needs more time in the minor leagues before she's allowed into a major market. read more

We are not enjoying watching ABC 10 news any longer. We find ourselves watching a different channel, then tuning in to ABC world news in the evening. In the morning we start out with another news program, then tune to Good Morning America once it starts. Also, Good Morning America is now 2 hours on Saturday morning, but ABC 10 Sacramento cuts it off at 8 and gives us local news rather than allowing us to see the last hour of GMA...can't find a place on their website to comment about it. read more

Megan telles was the biggest reason I watched ABC 10 mornings. She was perfect for a morning show. Smoothe, calm and of course easy to look at. Now we got this britney lady who speaks at 100 miles an hour at full volume. When ever she comes on I'm like "gd woman it's only 7am slow your freaking roll, this is only my first cup of coffee. With my man walt greys experience and maturity, mark s Allen's upbeat but not over the top smiling commentary it was a good balance. Then you had this woman with giant glasses...I don't wanna put people down but I can't watch anymore. Btw the LNT people.... every time their commercial comes on I can't help but roll my eyes. The little handsome guy tries his best to look ernest in every shot. Like, stop worrying about trying to look like a grizzled reporter and just report. This guy walks around Sacramento rail yards strategically peeking over unguarded fences as if he's reporting in Syria. Get over yourself. Then there is the pretty lady who tries her best not to look pretty by wearing old man ped ifile glasses. Wearing a vintage army jacket and never smiling. Last but not least is the black guy. I am sorry to say that the news at ABC is extremely bias towards the Democratic Party. ( don't get me wrong... I use to be democratic) They do not report the news, that is very important, in regards to the illegal border crossings . The last report I saw was clearly biased. They never let normal folks really know what's going on. I have been studying this issue for quite awhile. I am an immigrant, came her in 1959. My parents did everything they had to do to become citizens. We came over here legally. I realize that the process has become almost not achievable. I know many persons who have been waiting years for their process. ABC ,really, hardly ever shows what's going on in Texas and the other states that are dealing with the thousand of migrants coming here every day. I have never seen a report as to the hundred of thousands that have come already. Shame on you for not reporting news as it is, and staying silent due to your bias politics. I honestly had no clue that so many viewers felt the same way I do about the direction News 10 has taken. What an an unmitigated train wreck! I don't know if it's possible to count the many ways that news 10 has gone wrong in the last year or so. But I'll try. 1. They let venerable journalists, read: "old white guys", Tim Dailey, Dave Marquis, George Warren, and photo journalist Mark Pepper "retire". Together these four had about 100 years of journalism experience. Little did we know the "retirement" of these four was just the beginning. 2. Next to go was the very well liked Dan Elliott, another old white guy. 3. But in a surprising twist Abc 10 failed to retain Ryan Yamamoto and his wife Suzanne Phan, who are, wait for it... Asian! So what can we deduce from this? Apparently ABC 10 isn't really against old white reporters, they're just cheap and not interested in keeping personalities that viewers actually like! 4. Then other well liked reporters were canned: Brian May and Melissa Crowley are the first that come to mind. 5. Then they renovated the news room into this brown, wooden, open-air, dormitory looking debacle. News anchors went from working as a Duo to now being by themselves standing behind a silly little podium while cameras zoom in and out like annoying little flies around a pile of turd. 6. Speaking of all those cameras, ABC 10 now resembles the set of TMZ! One static camera isn't enough, heck 3 static cameras aren't enough. Today I was watching poor old Walt Grey deliver a commentary on the nuclear threat from North Korea, he was speaking into a static camera about a very serious threat while a, let's call it a roving camera, swooped and soared behind the static camera. First the roving camera is on the right, cut to the static camera, cut back to the roving camera and now it's on the left! Oooo exciting! But let's make sure that we get a little bit of the static camera in the shot with the roving camera, for what? Aesthetics? It makes me dizzy at times. Sometimes I think the roving camera operator must have the shakes! That's what i want at 6am... 7. Next, they can Dale and Christina... Enough said. 8. Now let's talk about that abortion of a Morning Show they call Morning Blend. Megan what's-her-face belongs on a street corner barking at tourists to buy worm filled tequila, not as the face of a morning news program. Man is she awful! And Mark Allen, whose shtick has never been funny, hip, or prescient needs to just stay off tv. He's got to be pushing 60 by now yet he still dresses and acts like he did 35 years ago when he was on 102.5. I get it, ABC 10 is trying to appeal to millennials so therefore you must make your on-screen Talent relatable, right? So let's have Mark dress up like he's a 20 year old GQ model and we'll have poor Rob, who is a very good meteorologist, look like he just rolled out of bed. Because that's hip, right? Screw professionalism, let's just go for what's hip. Bed head, ratted jeans and dirty running shoes. Solid bro. 9. LNT. Hahaha hahaha hahaha. Whatever. 10. "Storytellers". Uh huh, whatever you need to tell yourself ABC 10 to make yourself sound relevant. The guerilla style camera work of their new field reporters-John, Luciana, and that other guy who doesn't shave - is just preposterous. If we want bouncing camera shots then we'll watch actual reporters who are embedded in Afghanistan or Syria running for their lives. Not some local hack trying to drum up drama about geese or the fog in Sacramento. 11. The new anchors. Fire old white anchors, check. Bring in someone not white even if he has no camera presence, check. Chris whatever his name is, I call him Chris the Whisperer, is just horrid. Hi I'm Chris, 100 Syrians were bombed in a chemical attack today but look... I'm still smiling! The other new anchor, i don't even know her name. Whatever. 12. Good luck Walt and Monica. You're going to need it. You've got three things going against you, you're both older, you both cost the most to employ, and... You're white! It's only a matter of time before these two veterans are canned for cheaper and more racially diverse stand-ins. 13. The real reason I'm writing this long review about ABC 10 is I woke up this morning to read that Dina is not having her contract renewed. A beaming, positive presence with no ego or pretenses is being let go from that sinking ship. With her gone I have absolutely no reason to watch any news presentation that ABC 10 offers. With Channel 3, 13, 40 all offering better, less annoying news there's just no reason to watch 10 anymore. Congratulations Tegna and ABC 10, you really screwed the pooch on this one. read more

SIT-REP This review is specific to their www.news10.net website. SET-UP I LOVE the layout of the station's information quadrants. At the very top is the "INTERACTIVE CRIME MAPS" link which seems to be a nod to the paranoia of our community fanaticism, BUT they are still hella fun to go through and chart crime in your neighborhood. However, the meat & potatoes of this site is truly in the NEWS BRIEFS layed out on the left hand side: these headlined information briefs do a far better job in my opinion of laying out the news than the website news organs of AOL and Yahoo. The added benefit is that it features more LOCAL NEWS that I don't have to wade thru pop-culture crap to find. On the top right quadrant I also find a nifty Weather Forecast that 9 times out of 10 beats the information on my iPhone. But would I expect any different? News 10 is here in Sacramento with their own meteorology team giving constant updates, not Steve Jobs and company trying to predict from their posh homes. NOT that this is any fault of my iPhone, but rather of the information streaming into it. THE LOWDOWN I love the news product and current information I get from News Channel 10 every day. read more

I would have to agree with the majority of the reviews on this page....It just seems like total chaos on this news station currently... I as well have switched back to Channel 3 news....professional, no joking around....I do though wait and watch Monica Wood's forecast...she is a breath of fresh air, knows her profession and is able to inform us about the weather far beyond the "regular", "usual" forecasts on competing channels. I ask myself....is it my age, is it the hot weather, and why am I so annoyed by the voices of the traffic and anchor employees!! This may be one of worst new shows on the air. They anchor, Megan, looks like she just came in from clubbing and the chatter is endless about entertainment with Marcus Allen taking up what seems to be a big chunk of the show. He is fine but belongs on a late afternoon news segment instead. Walt and Rob are fine and provide real information while Megan reads a few headlines with absolutely no depth. She belongs on the entertainment page and certainly she should not be dealing with real news. Lot of the stuff is showing cute pictures of kids and animals with talk about dates and other endless chatter. The set looks like an Ikea showroom and the folks roam around like they are window shopping for a couch or something. We watch the show mainly for laughs before breakfast then turn to one of the other local channels. read more

I love the Channel 10 family, there have been a lot of changes on Channel 10 throughout the years...I have to say I really enjoy the anchors and I really enjoy the heart felt stories... Ariane Datil has been such a pleasant additions to the Channel 10 news family she seems so peasant and shares her wonderful stories...sounds as though she has a "Big" heart and I like how she shares the positive messages with her audience...please keep her! Had to update my previous review when today Megan Telles pronounced the name Bret Harte (Modesto school damaged by arson over the winter holiday) as "Bret Hartey." This is someone we're supposed to trust with our daily dose of news? Please, Channel 10, you can do better. The morning news format isn't working. The roving cameras, the air-headed babble that passes for banter, the silly stories that are a waste of on-air time, and the MANY words that are mispronounced by your lead morning "anchor" Megan are tiresome. And, thank you, I do not need to see a segment about how I can wear my dress/top backwards to "re-style" it. Are you kidding me? Let's bring some professionalism back into the news room at Channel 10. I don't care if an anchor is "seasoned" (read: older) -- I want someone trustworthy and reliable. And there are a few shining stars left who fit that bill and should be promoted from within before they take off like so many other talented reporters who have found greener pastures. read more

This review is only about the morning news. I loved ABC 10 morning news. When they changed up how the broadcasting was I thought it was a nice change. Then they brought in Megan Telles and booted Walt and Dina as the main anchor. I have tried for months to keep watching thinking Megan would grow on me.... well I give up. As a side anchor she's fine but that main just No. I now watch CBS every morning till 7 then I switch back to Good Morning America. Please ABC move Megan to a side anchor position and bring back Walt and Dina. read more

Oh man.... what is this? I just moved up from San Jose and loved ABC7 news. I certainly didn't expect this type of amateur news program coming from our state capital. Brittany Begley walking around with an iPad giving us the traffic from the WAZE app?! REALLY?? I could look that up myself! But I just have a hard time with the camera moving around the room often times with the main anchor completely turning their back on the viewer to talk to the weather person. You are not connecting to your audience this way. I want the news, traffic and weather. Period. Keristen Holmes really isn't a good anchor. She messes up words, she gets things wrong and her voice isn't smooth and easy to listen to. Walt is the best anchor on there, but the rest just isn't working. In fact your weekend program is much easier to watch with Mayde Gomez. Two thumbs down. read more

It seems to me that there is a great opportunity for local TV news; maybe for one of our local ones reforming themselves into a real bona fide news station, or for a new one to spring up. The news stations we have (KXTV, KCRA, KTXL, KOVR, etc) current focus is on covid this, covid that... but, not much about cases on people who have survived covid. So, the listener is left with a very depressed and I would say scary scenario. While the reporters are busy wringing their hands on cases and deaths - they neglect the cases of people who have survived. Have you heard of a train wreck, plane or bus crash where they did not point out the number of survivors? Why are they only focused on the number of cases and numbers of deaths? I think you know the answer - I think people are much smarter than these stations give us credit for. Last night, KXTV had a running survey of mask wearing and it was running 80% of people saying they'd wear a mask and 20% would not. I shut the show off before the end, but what can they really expect after the bad picture they are painting every night? If it weren't for the SpaceX launch planned for today, I think it would have been, covid, covid, covid all over again. I am of the mind that (smart people) will wear a mask if they want and the same smart people, won't if they don't need to - we don't need a TV station to create a gloomy picture to pressure people into wearing a mask. Maybe that is not KXTVs motive, but I feel that it isn't just their interest in what people are going to do and they woke up yesterday morning and said, let's see how many people are mask wearers... Like I said at the beginning, I think there is a great opportunity for a real news station (and maybe 2) in this area, that goes out and reports real news stories, instead of each of them competing with the same canned program that really does not give you much in the way of news. I don't know if KXTV really deserves a single star, but I do know that each time I watch one of these local stations, I am left wanting for real news. I realized last year, that the evening news was formatted completely different. Cristina Mendonsa and Dale Schnornack didn't get their contracts renewed. They had been there for 21 & 19 years, respectively. WHY on EARTH would you change that?? Journalists usually move around, so let's put that aside. The Bigger let down is the way the evening news is delivered; in essence, it's like watching a High School journalism class doing a mock news report- but focused mostly on art & entertainment. They move about the studio with their distracting iPads and conduct the news hour like a talk show. WHY?? We stopped watching it after a few days of disappointment, and it only shows up if it comes on after a show... and then we see who can get to the remote faster. Judging by the piss-poor reviews since the change, you're losing a lot of viewers and perhaps not gaining any. read more
