I booked a hammam/gommage here to give my skin the TLC it needed after an action-packed, jet-setting summer. The relaxation journey began as soon as I stepped through the doors. The woman who welcomed me was incredibly peppy, sweet and took the time to explain how the afternoon would unwind (change into fluffy bathroom, steam, soak, scrub, sip some tea and snooze for as long as I wanted in the reclining chairs in the Riad-like lounge). Sounded like heaven to me. And it was! The hammam itself was not as big as I imagined it would be. It was only two rooms, with the gommage tables stationed within the bigger of the two rooms. Regardless, the space was fine for the crowd, and it was well-maintained, so no problems there, but I assumed that it would be a true palace with many different steam rooms. The real highlight of my three hour sensory journey was the fabulous gommage given by a powerful but tender woman who sang songs from her African homeland while scrubbing me down. The goods: friendly staff who walked me through their services with my non-existent French and their limited English. They provide a robe, slippers, and shampoo with shower gel. A nice touch was mint tea with lemon infused water in the resting area. The ambiance was great. Some improvements I recommend: the hammam room was too dark (lit only by candle lights). While after a while your eyes get used to it, it was a bit uncomfortable at first. The rest area right next to the entrance, thus it was a bit loud when people talked at the reception area or opened the door. And one last thing, there was quite a few very dusty corners in the change room which really caught my eye, easy improvement, which would make the experience better.

When we walked around we saw ZERO women and many groups of men just hanging out sizing us up. -You cannot access the hotel lobby without a key card (another sign the neighborhood isn't ideal). It would be okay except when we tried to grab our bags nobody was at the desk to buzz us in (and we had checked out and no longer had key cards). -Thin walls allow a lot of sound to come through at night

When we asked them to check on our room A/C they essentially admitted that on hot days the systems throughout the hotel cannot keep up but a night it would get better. Wrong! Our room was in the upper 80's to perhaps 90 degrees (as were the lobby and halls) and we would have changed hotels except they said to A/C unit would eventually catch up but "it takes a long time." They knew better. We returned from late dinner and no change, and spent a sleepless night on top of the sheets with sweat literally running down our backs etc. Funny that the room was hot but not the shower which had mostly cold water. The free airport shuttle starting at 5:00 am actually started at 6:05. TheY suggested that we walk! The hotel offered no bell help on check-in but had luggage carts you could use...for a fee! But they couldn't actually get them unlocked to use. I could go on and on but why bother? Unless you a seeking a sauna, stay away from this hotel. The hotel is well located related to the airport, but that was about it for this terrible hotel.
