Each of our meals reminded me of the truck stop cafe's I would frequent with my truck driver grandfather, particularly the traditional corned beef hash. I added green chilies to my chicken fried steak, hash browns and eggs and it hit the spot. The best part of the visit was the most kind staff I have ever encountered. I loved watching how they all worked together with gentle smiles to make sure each table felt like they were the only customers. One table needed some extra care and I was touched as staff from other parts of the room noticed and all came together to help in the moment. Such a Great Small-Town Gem! I chose this restaurant from other yelp reviews and it didn't disappoint. The service was excellent from start to finish...warm, welcoming, and genuinely friendly. The whole place is clean, charming, and decorated with that perfect vintage small-town vibe that makes you feel right at home. The food was incredible: The bacon was thick, hearty, and cooked right in that sweet spot between crispy and tender. The eggs were perfectly cooked. The hashbrowns were super crispy. The pancakes came out with the butter already melted in... sooo yummy. The biscuits and gravy were amazing. The biscuit was big and fluffy, and the gravy had great sausage flavor. I also loved the little touches, like fresh creamer on the tables, and the bathrooms were spotless. Came back to try the pictured corned beef hash... what we got is not what you see in the picture - I reported the picture to Yelp. It is from someone else's 1-star review to show what corned beef "should" look like. Don't be deceived. Service still great. Coffee still great. Other menu items still great. We just ordered the wrong thing. Abby herself comped our meal. She explained that locals love the canned stuff. If you do, this is your corned beef headquarters. If not, this place is worth the stop - just make sure you know what you are ordering... like their incredible biscuits with homemade jam and Rusty's scramble. read more

ATTN Travelers! This is one of the best breakfasts we've had in a long time! I had the #9 with bacon, has browns, 1 egg and a pancake. The egg and hashbrowns came with a side of homemade salsa and the browns were crisped to perfection. My favorite part was the fresh raspberry jam that came with my ultra fluffy pancake. It was SO delicious!!! My husband got Dellas Breakfast that came with the best homemade sausage patty he's ever had. We loved breakfast here and will make it a point to stop back anytime we pass through this beautiful Utah-Colorado gateway. Also, excellent service!! Coffee was filled every few minutes. read more

What a wonderful place. I have nothing but great things to say. All day breakfast is always a great find. And the prices and the quality and quantity of food is going to be hard to beat. And what a huge menu for lunch and breakfast. Seriously lovely. Food - We got the Navajo taco and the French dip sandwich. Both were really lovely. The French dip stood out though. It could easily serve two people, came with a huge service of fries or onion rings and the meat on the sandwich was crazy tender. Just a lovely sandwich. The taco came with fries or onion rings as well, which I had never seen. The taco was super good and I would totally get it again. Service - Our waitress was simply lovely. She was super nice, kept our glasses filled, and had good suggestions. Couldn't have asked for more Decor - It was just really nice in there. It is a good old country cafe and the decor matches that. The food was okay. I had the Meaty Omelet and it was pretty good. I had sourdough toast, but they used the "butter spread" that isn't really butter.. and they brushed it on.. I like real butter, not that fake crap. I've had better and I've had worse. They're Just doing the same old cafe thing. The service was also very average. There were four or five girls just hanging around talking about their boyfriends and I was largely ignored. Granted, I was alone and sat at the counter... which was sort of awkward actually.. I should've taken a table, but there were a lot of families.. maybe it would be good to have some smaller tables available that aren't the right at counter but could possibly accommodate a single person or a duo. The place seemed like it was decorated by going to ikea and getting a few cafe style sayings and pictures.. Vernal has a rich history and I feel like most cafes I've been to tend to nod to the town they're in, which I like.. but it's not my place.. to each their own, but it seemed a little sterile and no real personal touch. I'll have to go back and try again next time I'm around the area. Four stars is my highest score, unless someone goes above and beyond. I give 3 stars to this place because of the lack of service and attention to detail and the fake butter. read more

The one star was for the lovely gal that accommodated our party. Otherwise, it would be nada stars. Our waitress clearly didn't understand the known motto in the service industry, "customer is ALWAYS right!" Everything we had was beyond below subpar. If this is anything remotely like Betty's, I might second guess stopping in. The cinnamon roll looked like it came from a package in a service station and tasted like it had been fermenting on a dusty bookshelf for a few days. I asked for my hash browns to be crispy. Well that may have been unsaid because it seemed to travel in one ear and right out the other. They were soft and mushy. What came next to it was surprisingly less appealing. It looked like cat food warmed over in a cast iron skillet but was actually CANNED corned beef. So wait a minute, I'm in the mountains... I'm out in the middle of to most what would be considered as no where and I'm being served corned beef hash from a can... When there are so many farms out here, can someone please explain to me why not a single restaurant out here is serving dry rubbed fresh corned beef?! The waitress noticed my sickened face as I move the cat food sludge over to my toast plate. Asked me if my food was ok. Nope, not even clearing ok. She actually asked me if I'd ever had corned beef before... All over these states I've had it and never had it been from the same place you source wet cat food. The finally was when she rung us up. No apologies, no comp, no acknowledgement any wrong had been committed. It's clear she doesn't want repeat customers. I am not cattle standing in line waiting for whatever you give me to be shoveled into my trough. I'm a person who wants to eat that fresh cattle in its best form. We were nervous we wouldn't be able to find somewhere to go to breakfast on a Sunday in small town Utah, but I'm so glad we were able to eat here! From the outside it doesn't look like much, I think the sign says "Naples Cafe" or something so we weren't sure what we were walking into, but the inside is charming, and the smell of delicious pancakes and syrup greeted us as we walked in. 6/14/2023 We stopped in at lunchtime as we were driving past. We received a friendly greeting, were seated, menus proffered, and drinks were promptly served. Then we waited and watched 3 or 4 servers taking care of other customers and chatting at the end of the counter (it was not a busy day). After 15-20 minutes we finally hailed a waitress as she was passing by and discovered that they all thought we were someone elses customer! The waiter came over, apologized, and took our order. Absolutely positively no surprise Abby's Café has a five star rating. The service is fantastic. My wife had a BLT with onion rings and I had the fish and fries. Both were excellent. Best fish I have ever had. Our server, Gayle, was pleasant and efficient. We liked that she checked on us often. BTW If you have Covid concerns, the tables are spaced far apart. Went here on a Sunday after learning our first choice was closed. Definitely a good thing, as this place is great!
