We used Paulette Couture Photography for our wedding this past Memorial Day Weekend. To start, we…read moretruly appreciated that Paulette Couture was available to us by phone or email, and always took into consideration the time difference between NH and CO. Most importantly, we loved that because our venue was hours away from Paulette's home, and because we were having multiple events over the weekend, Paulette was willing to spend the entire weekend with us! We got her a cabin onsite, and she took it from there. She captured detailed photos of the resort and took time to familiarize herself with the venue in advance of the big day. It meant so much to us to have her with us the entire weekend because it allowed us, our friends, and our family to put their phones and cameras away and not worry about taking photos themselves, and instead be in the moment. During each event, Paulette was hardly noticeable at all. She was completely respectful of the interactions we were having with one another, and did her absolute best to capture these moments from the sidelines. After the weekend was over, Paulette was extremely fast in getting our photos back to us. When the package arrived in the mail, we were thrilled about the gorgeous presentation - we received a beautiful wooden box with a few of her favorites already printed for us, as well as a thumb drive of photos organized by event - you could totally see her passion for photography in the presentation of the package! We are so looking forward to working with Paulette again, and absolutely recommend her for capturing your big day!

A Hidden Gem in New Hampshire!…read more I can't say enough good things about this charming little motel! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed like family by the sweetest couple who clearly pour their hearts into every detail. The rooms are spotless, the beds are incredibly comfortable, and there are thoughtful, homey touches throughout that make it feel more like a cozy guesthouse than a motel. Everything about our stay was simply perfect. If you're looking for a place that's full of character, comfort, and genuine hospitality, this is it. We can't wait to come back!

Check in was super…read moreeasy and she met us at the main building even though we arrived late, after normal check in hours. She had put the heat on and a light on in our cottage so it was ready for us. Room was cozy and cute, as we expected. No fluff and relatively small but has everything you need including a microwave and small fridge. Bed was okay, not super comfortable if you have a bad back or anything like that, but fine since we were tired from hiking and passed out! Housekeeping services are not provided daily which did not matter to us, just something to note since that's important to some people. The grassy area walking from parking and the main building to the cottages is a little sandy/gritty, so the floor gets dirty quickly. Wish there had been a doormat to wipe our feet before entering our room to keep it a little cleaner. Every morning for breakfast Michelleprovides fresh fruit and some sort of super fresh and delicious pastry that she makes from scratch (we had cranberry orange muffins, coffee cake, cinnamon sugar doughnut sticks and cinnamon sugar/coffee cake topped muffins). That is just the start of breakfast! She makes you literally whatever you can possibly think of and doesn't even provide a menu - if you can think of it she can make it! Throughout our stay we had breakfast sandwiches, breakfast burritos, French toast, pancakes, fried eggs, sausages and hash browns. She also even remembered after the first day that we liked ketchup with our hash browns and that I like OJ! We also ate here for a super late, small dinner one night and got Margherita pizza. The dough and sauce is home made which is why we got it! It was VERY cheesy, which can be good, but needed a little more sauce on it to balance it out. Quite tasty (although we're from NJ/NYC so we have unfair standards for pizza) and what we needed for a quick, late snack. Loved the fresh loaf of Italian bread when we sat down - again, of course, made fresh by Michelle. So doughy and warm that we actually ordered some large loaves to take home with us at the end of our stay.

When we arrived this was not the case. The exterior upkeep is minimal. There is a smell of mold/must in the main house and in the cabin we booked. There was a swarm of flies in the bathroom on our arrival and the remains of flies/bugs in all of the window sills. The bed was not comfortable. Lastly, the curtains did not close completely, leaving us feeling rather exposed. We left and stayed somewhere else last minute. Michelle, the innkeeper, has refused a refund. In response to your comments, we had several emails where I did list my complaints on the room. And I never received a phone call from you the next day. Your response is misleading. Regardless, I have never in my life left an online review before this stay which speaks to how strongly I feel. I realize I will not be refunded, although I disagree with your decision. I just felt I should share so people don't make the same mistake I made. Book here with caution.

Extremely clean, room smelled clean. Besides that what I loved was the fact that you have grills available to you, there are benches near the river, they have a fire pit you can use, they supply the wood, and there is a good size pool too. They have corn holes, and a volley ball net. The grounds are beautiful and nicely maintained. They provided a light breakfast of muffins, cereal bars, orange juice and fruit cups. My only advise is pick a room on the 2nd floor because you can hear your upstairs neighbors. Thankfully by 10pm they quieted down. I highly recommend it!

But this isn't about them... this is about the wonderful Hillwinds Lodge and how they saved the day! Thank God for good hearted people. My husband drove into Hillwinds Lodge and with big hopes and crossed fingers, he went in to see if they had any available rooms - rooms that didn't cost an arm and a leg. Much to our delight, the couple who run the place were very kind, light hearted and accommodating. Not only did they offer us a room with a view of the creek, they also honored the price of the room that expedia advertised from the "other" hotel. We are sitting comfortably in our room and cannot wait to get up tomorrow morning to see the view and enjoy the sights. The hotel is very charming, with adirondack chairs in front of each room and a fire pit ready to go out in the common area and of course the babbling creek right across from our room. We are so grateful and delighted that we found Hillwinds Lodge!

The managers and owners Brian and his wife Ruby have restored this motel built in the fifties to its original glory with a lot of nice touches. We we're wishing we able to check out the live music that was featured on Friday and Saturday but because of the wedding festivities we missed it. The continental breakfast was better than most I've had in a motel or hotel. Great coffee and real milk with a large variety of things to eat. The best part was learning about some of the amazing features of the building like a hidden cigar bar placed in a perfect original setting complete with a special ventilation system to remove the smoke from the room. The rooms are very simple and I love the minimalist look- exposed brick, no cheesy motel art. the beds are really comfortable and the sheets are nice with a simple white duvet (no cheesy motel bedspreads) and lovely pillows. If you are planning a wedding, you will not find a place more magical or a wedding coordinator half…read moreas wonderful as Christy and the Alerin Barn. We couldn't feel more lucky to have had our wedding here. My husband and I met in Vermont, but we live in New York City. We knew it was going to be complicated planning a wedding from afar, and we simply could NOT have done it without Christy. "She is worth her weight in gold!" my Dad said at one point during the planning process, and boy is he correct! We had a million questions, and for every one Christy had an answer that made perfect sense and calmed our nerves. She is an expert at this and has endless brilliant ideas about how to make the party flow. When we were clueless about how to make something happen, she took the lead. And when we had a particular idea -- a maple creemee truck, bringing a jazz band from NYC, a table with thousands of cookies -- she let us lead and helped make it happen. She even helped find a basketball court in town for my husband and his groomsmen to play a game! Above and beyond is an understatement. On top of that, the venue is spectacular. You can tell Christy and her wonderful husband, Gary have put love and thought into every corner. We threw our entire weekend right here -- a welcome party the night before, yoga on the grounds the morning of, a ceremony on the stunning hill, and of course an incredibly fun reception in the cocktail pavilion and barn. Our guests from New York City, Ohio, California, Connecticut all raved about how special it was to celebrate here, and my husband and I didn't even have to leave the grounds once we arrived on Friday morning! I'll never forget the feeling as each of our friends and family arrived at the Alerin Barn and the enthusiasm and fun that abounded the entire weekend. We wanted our wedding to be a warm, sophisticated, Vermont-y, special PARTY. Christy and Gary helped make it real at every turn. And the breakfast they make you each morning is an added delight. We can't thank you enough, Christy and Gary! We will forever be grateful and can't wait to visit our favorite place again in the future. Have your wedding here!! Cannot recommend it enough.

But when you enter the world of Alerin Barn and the Keeper on Horned Pout Pond, you leave all of that behind. The property is a world unto itself-- a fully refinished farm house, a gorgeously restored barn, a pond-- and, in a meadow up on the hill (a short cart ride away, but walkable), an outdoor chapel for wedding ceremonies. The farmhouse has ample room for both halves of the couple to dress in, and a few rooms for guests to stay. The chapel has rough-hewn wooden benches and an arbor under some trees. When I photographed a wedding there the staff had brought lemonade service up for the guests. The property owners have also made an adorable cart that pulls behind a tractor to carry your guests up to the meadow where the chapel is. The barn itself is well redone with room for tables on both floors and a walk-out patio on the second floor. The DJ booth is on the second floor and overlooks the dance floor. There are patio tables by the pond and a floating dock that you can walk out onto. The staff is wonderful (both the in house and hired in staff) and the owners are personable and very, very capable. The wedding I photographed there also featured a fireworks display over the pond, it was spectacular.
