Paid for preparation of taxes and found a major mistake they made! Don't return calls. A definite no!

While it's true I did not know I was required to pay a City Tax, it's reasonable that a professional tax preparer would know and make the client aware. When I notified John of the letter from the city and asking for help to resolve this I was ghosted. He stated he would get back in touch the following week and never did. I did try to reach him by phone but no response. Obviously I'm moving my business elsewhere as this has cost me in penalty, late fees, and the cost of having 4 years of returns amended with the City. My point is be sure you know what you need done and don't expect any assistance from Benzing because you will be left high and dry to deal with any issues that come up by yourself. I cannot recommend this firm.

When i expressed my dissatisfaction the President Mr. Donald Newman called me a Jackass for telling him I would be sharing with my network my bad experience and later told the secretary to call the police on me when I did nothing threatening, called him out of his name, or refused to leave! Shes timely, compassionate and professional, not to mention one of the most knowledgeable agents Ive ever worked with. It's shocking some of the reviews I'm reading on here. I've personally been with Shanyn for 15 years and I know she has hundreds of clients completely grateful for her expertise and work. There is always 2 sides of the story.......Sounds like people that may not be taking accountability for their own actions and wanting to publicly pass blame. Be better humans, people. Sheesh.

I talked to Tanya their receptionist and she was loud and rude and had no idea what she was talking about. They are very unprofessional and have a slow turn around time. I wouldn't waste my time or money with this terrible business!! No Shanyn this was in February before COVID ever started. We went in person and signed and paid in person with a check. It wasn't until 5 months later you called and said we never paid. Because of that call I went somewhere else last year. There is no remaining balance but you still won't give me a copy of the taxes I paid you $200 to do. After 10 years with you, I was called a liar and treated like crap on the phone. I would rather give the IRS $43 for a copy and take my business elsewhere.
