Abbeycroft Veterinary Surgery is really not somewhere I would ever take an animal again. And I'm not the only one as when I'm out walking my dog almost everyone I meet has some sort of complaint about the practice. I took my cat in six months ago after he got a blade of grass stuck in the back of his nose and throat. I had managed to get the grass out but took him to the vet anyway to make sure he was ok. The vet said he had a temperature and they gave him Metacam, which cost over £20. He seemed fine to me just a bit of a sore throat from the grass so I checked out the medicine on the net and found it is a strong painkiller for arthritis in cats and it isn't even approved for use in cats and the vet had given it to me 'off label'. There was nothing wrong with my cat. Last year I took my dog in after she collapsed. They examined her and took a blood sample, charged me, then called me the next day saying she had renal failure and would be dead in two days if I didn't admit her to the veterinary hospital. She was in two days but they said: I don't think it is renal failure. I have no idea what it is. I asked them if she had a heart valve problem as I could hear a whooshing sound when I listened to her heart. They said no. They said there was nothing wrong with her heart. We spent over £1,000 on the treatment but they couldn't find what was wrong with her. She's still with us and I took her to a new vet recently who examined her and said straightaway that she had a heart murmer and it was probably a valve problem. I'm so glad the new vet has arrived in Northwich because until now my animals have been without medical care. I would rather let my animals go without treatment than go to Willows group. They are better off. read more
