I was the sole guest during my 3 day 2 night stay there so felt like I had the whole top floor to myself. The house is an old structure but Karen has made it a cosy and comfy home away from home. My room was well-furnished with a nice size bed and fireplace seating area. This room also had a nice big tub in the bedroom space as well as a doored bathroom with shower. The balcony opened out to views of the street. Nice big spaced room with lots of windows/shades, light and a fan too. No TV here but you do have uninterrupted wifi. Parking is on a lot just across the street and the location is great - this is the closes B&B to the square where all the shops and restaurants are located. Nice quiet neighborhood but still close to historic attractions. Guests can be entertained in the living area downstairs. You get a key to enter and exit the inn as you wish. Fridge on the upper level has water and soda aplenty. Towels, toiletries provided and Karen has lived in the area long enough to provide any info, etc. My stay was pleasant and enjoyable. The quiet and calm provided for some much warranted writing time for me. Rates are really cheap and rooms can be booked over the phone with Karen.

A couple of things stood out, though: there was hair from a previous guest on the shower wall, and one of the couch cushions had quite a few stains on the underside. Also, the TV wasn't centered with the beds, which seemed like an odd design choice but wasn't a major issue. The elevators were a little questionable during our stay, and one was actually taken out of service just as we were leaving. The real standout of this hotel was the front desk associate working when we arrived around 10:30 p.m. She was genuinely friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. She let us know that if we needed bedding for the pull-out sofa, all we had to do was call, and she would bring it up--which she did promptly with a smile. Even though it was late, she remained cheerful and seemed happy to help. We stay in hotels fairly often, and it's refreshing to encounter someone who provides that level of customer service, especially compared to the more routine overnight staff we often come across. I wish I remembered her name because she definitely deserves recognition. Overall, for a quick overnight stay or even a few nights, this Holiday Inn serves its purpose well. Our first room had a bedspread with unknown brown streaks on it. Jessica at the front desk was helpful enough to move us to another room, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, the new room had an AC unit that was not functioning properly. Housekeeping stated that they would not be able to issue additional towels to me because of the number of people in the room. We didn't want to escalate the issues to Jessica again, but in hindsight, we probably should have. I've included photos of the "ready room," where the bed appeared to have been very quickly pieced together rather than properly prepared for a new guest. Jessica acknowledged "you should have clean sheets when checking into a hotel." Hot breakfast is available 7-10am, basic spread but the Hotel staff were lining up at 10am to also enjoy, which is great but I'd still prefer the details in rooms be addressed. To make matters worse, our original travel plans were unexpectedly cancelled, resulting in us being unable to utilize one of the days we had already paid for. I contacted the hotel and kindly requested a refund for that single unused day. Jessica flatly denied the request, despite the fact that we had only stayed from Friday 9pm to Monday 2am and were only asking for consideration for the one day we were unable to use due to circumstances outside of our control. I understand hotels have policies, but there should also be some level of customer service and compassion when unexpected travel disruptions occur. Between the room cleanliness/condition issues, the AC problem, and the refusal to accommodate a reasonable request, this was unfortunately not the experience we expected.

Counters themselves were sticky, crumbs on the counter and on the floor. Floor was not vacuumed at all. Even the hallway to going to my room was dirty and not vacuumed. The pool was located outside and was nice. They had an exercise room with equipment located on the ground floor. They served a complimentary breakfast in the breakfast area. The front desk employee greeted them warmly, but when it was my turn, her entire demeanor changed -- no greeting, no courtesy, just immediate hostility. The difference in treatment was obvious, and it set the tone for what became a clear case of racial profiling. She repeatedly insisted my card was "declining," even though the incidentals had already been charged. I attempted to show her the transaction on my account, and she refused to look, raised her voice, and became confrontational. When I asked for the manager's contact information, she slammed his business card on the counter instead of handing it to me respectfully. Instead of resolving the issue, she escalated the situation by calling the police on me -- a paying guest -- simply for asking for clarification and proper service. I was then banned from the property based on false accusations, including claims that I threatened her. These accusations were completely untrue. My 17‑year‑old, who never even stepped out of the car, was also falsely mentioned in her story. When I attempted to speak with the manager, he repeatedly cut me off and hung up on me instead of listening. The entire situation was mishandled, disrespectful, and rooted in bias. No guest should ever be treated this way, especially when they have done nothing wrong. I will not be returning to this location, and I strongly urge corporate to investigate the conduct of the staff involved.

Power was off for over 48hrs and the staff did everything in their power to keep the guest calm and try to find solutions. Their upbeat attitude was a island in the storm so to say. They found food, helped people charge their phones, all with a smile. Thank you to the amazing staff all around who worked tirelessly. I will be staying at Hampton Inn Greenwood for all of my future trips to the area.
