I moved to Nelson for a three-month period and the City Boy in me started to panic when I went searching for some small metallic disc magnets and couldn't find any in Nelson's various drug and knick-knack stores. Mind you, I couldn't find them at Cowan's either, but this is as close to a Staples as you will get in Nelson. Family-owned with plenty of helpful staff, Cowans has been around since 1972 and does a great deal to support the East Kootenays. The business actively promotes recycling and regularly donates to the Food Bank. While they may be lacking supererogatory items such as small metallic disc magnets, they do have most of your stationary needs.

My most recent purchase is a rubber floor mat. That one was for me, love the colours! The store is stock full of gifts for yourself and for others. this guy is a total grifter... sure.. he'll sell you fabric and notions... but never take your…read moremachine to him.. or buy a used machine from him... he will do nothing to fix it.. then charge you an arm and a leg. i repair machines.. and have been cleaning up after his mess' for the last 15 years.. i'm not even sure how he stays in business. i'm tired of seeing him rip people off.
