I was told I would receive estimates and that someone would contact me to discuss them. A few days later, I received a call that I believed was related to those estimates. Instead, I was told the caller was a nurse and wanted to conduct a medical intake. I immediately explained that I had not been informed this would be a clinical appointment and that I first wanted to understand costs, insurance coverage, and whether Cortica was the right provider for our family before proceeding with any medical evaluation. I ended the conversation after expressing those concerns and was told someone would follow up with additional information. To my surprise, I later discovered that a charge had been submitted to my insurance and that I was assigned a patient responsibility amount. As a parent seeking services for a child, transparency is extremely important. Families should be clearly informed when a call is considered a billable medical service and whether it may result in insurance claims or out-of-pocket costs. My recommendation to other parents is to ask for written confirmation regarding which calls are informational and which may be billed to insurance before discussing medical history. I hope Cortica reviews its communication process to ensure families fully understand what they are consenting to before any charges are generated.

My son and I have had the good fortune of working with both Lori and Dawn through our local school district and now at 4 Behavior Change. Lori first met my son when he was six years old and just starting kindergarten. She accurately identified his learning and emotional needs, and set up a variety of supports to help him begin to regulate and access learning. Lori knows how to support children like my son who have severe anxiety, a learning disability, attention challenges, and difficulty coping with his disabilities. Her assessments are thorough and she excels at designing effective, practical intervention plans. More recently, Lori and Dawn supported my now fifteen year old son as he struggled to make the transition back to in person learning as a high school freshman after more than a year of distance learning from home. Lori and Dawn reconnected easily with my son, and were able to listen to his concerns and work with him to figure out what he needed to make the return to school. Both Lori and Dawn had an established history with my son which made gaining his trust effortless. They kept the discussions relatable and goal oriented for my teen, and made sure that all needed services and accommodations were provided through his IEP. I am grateful my son has had Lori and Dawn in his corner at different stages of his educational journey.

My family and I encountered several issues that I feel need to be addressed. Firstly, the attitude of the staff was concerning. They seemed unapproachable and inattentive, which made the experience uncomfortable. Additionally, there was a lack of care for the children, particularly regarding their needs. For instance, my daughter came home looking scared and crying which has never happened. This made me question the type of care they were providing her and what was happening behind closed doors. Honestly I wouldn't recommend and bring your kid at your own risk. The type of care is questionable and I think can improve please do better!!

Parents of autistic and non-verbal kids: please read this…read more I enrolled my daughter at Behavior Frontiers and within less than two weeks, I witnessed major red flags. Despite me providing flashcards, cheat sheets, and constant communication, they failed my child. I gave them the tools, the knowledge -- and they ignored it. I had to remind staff of things they should've already known. It felt like no one was doing their job. Here's what happened: * Staff called out twice during her first six days -- no consistency. * I was denied access when I tried to drop in -- no warning. * My daughter was changed into a diaper that breaks her skin -- without calling me. * She came home with dried snot all over her face. * No one told me she was freezing during pickup until I saw her myself. * Her backpack had diapers -- staff said she had none. * She showed signs of distress and didn't eat -- I found out at pickup. * They allow boys and girls to use the restroom together -- no privacy. * All communication was one-sided. I live 10 mins away. A call could've fixed things. This experience was devastating. I did my best. I supported their team. I stayed professional. I trusted them with my non-verbal child. And still -- my daughter suffered. If you're considering this center, I urge you to look deeper. The front desk receptionists and supervisors Matt and Damien were kind, and some of the RBTs were decent. But kindness means nothing when the structure behind them is careless. My child's basic needs were ignored. This was supposed to be a place for support. Instead, it was a lesson in how badly things can go wrong when people don't care enough. Most just aren't given clear guidance on what to ask for or what their child is actually entitled to. What stands out to me about Rise is how parents are supported in really understanding what's happening and how to advocate in a way that feels realistic and manageable. Having a clear plan and next steps takes a process that can feel chaotic and makes it more actionable. Another strength working with Rise is that April has firsthand experience working within the school system, meaning she understands how things actually function behind the scenes and can guide families in a way that's well-informed and practical. If you're feeling stuck or unsure where to begin with the IEP and 504 process, Rise provides the kind of support that can help you feel more confident and less alone in navigating it.
