Nightmare situation car transmission gave out on river trip. Had car towed to a shop in Fort Mojave and after a day they said they couldn't fix it. I then had it towed to AATCO after talking to Joe on the phone. He gave me good info and a worst case price which was fair. I had to leave car there as I live in So Cal but they were good with communicating and letting us know what was going on. They tried a few things in an attempt to rebuild but it wasn't happening so they ended up replacing. Once they called us to pick up they gave me great confidence that the car was ready to go again. My daughters car had the engine replaced with a log block directly from Ford at this shop as well as the transmission fixed. The engine labor charge alone was over $3000 and the transmission charge was $1600. There has been numerous problems with the engine which the owner refuses to acknowledge. I repaired the problems myself and only asked to be reimbursed for the cost of the parts. Stopped by the shop to discuss and the owner refused. Shortly after the transmission was "fixed", the transmission totally went out on a trip to Anaheim, CA. I had to have the transmission rebuilt at a local shop in Garden Grove and pay for the cost of a rental car for two weeks. This cost was over $4300. Apparently there has been a change of management between these "repairs" and the owner refuses to acknowledge and honor his shops work. Stay away from this shop at any cost as any work comes without a warranty of guaranty. Besides all the money spent, my daughter waited for about two months to get her car back from Aatco was work was started. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

My Transmission went out right around Christmas and I needed a repair between the holidays to get my truck up and running again. They rebuilt my transmission in my 2004 ford f150 in a very reasonable amount of time considering it was the holidays. Also charged a reasonable amount for that type of work. If you have transmission issues it's a given that it's not going to be cheap. 10 months later my transmission still runs good and fluid still looks clean. The only reason I took one star off is because my transmission linkage bushing was bad and was not replaced. They certainly had to remove it and put it back on and should have noticed it was bad. This is less than a $5 part and left me not able to put my vehicle into park and crawling under to try and jimmy rig it to get me home. As cheap of a part as that is I was pretty disappointed that they didn't go the extra mile and just change it. Otherwise I am satisfied. read more

Had the 4L60E in my 97 Chevy pickup rebuilt due to loosing 3rd and 4th gear. The truck had 210K miles on it so I requested they completely rebuild it as it was original, add a shift kit, a Corvette servo, and whatever other updates it needed. When I got it back they informed me that they did a stock rebuild. I figured there was a communication issue so I over looked it and payed the $1800 for the rebuilt transmission. Fast forward a year later, the transmission started to make a noise, so I brought the truck back to them. They informed me that I was out of warranty (Only 11K miles later!) and offered to rebuild it again for another $1800. I declined. The transmission lost all forward gears shortly after that. This time I decided to do the transmission myself. I pulled the transmission and found they were sloppy with the R&R. The fuel line bracket had not been reattached to the bell housing. The transmission was very dirty on the outside (which is odd for something that should have been cleaned for rebuilding). So I disassembled the transmission on the bench. The rear planetary was destroyed, and I found that the clutches were the original for 1997 (GM, not aftermarket). The only new parts I found were the band (probably to solve the 3rd and 4th gear issue) and the valve body separator plate had been repaired with a seat repair kit (where the check balls wear the plate out) rather than replacing the plate (that plate is $12-20). A very hoaky fix as the balls don't seat correctly to stop fluid flow. None of the trans go kits to update the trans had been installed. The transmission is good now that I replaced almost everything inside of it. PWM mod, drum, planetaries, corvette servo, billet steel boost valve, new torque converter, and all the normal soft parts. Bottom line is, don't go here for a trans rebuild, as they only replace the bare minimum to make the transmission work properly. read more

On the way through town in our 3500 Dodge Dually with 80K miles the transmission went completely out. Had the truck towed to AATCO as I was assured after talking with them on the phone that they would be able to help. As I suspected, they said they would need to drop and rebuild the trans. They said they would use more robust parts and specifically said the would also make sure they would flush out any sediments in the cooling system so the trans would not overheat. They charged us $3,400 for the complete rebuild. Almost immediately after driving off we noticed that something wasn't right when taking off from a complete stop. But when we got on the highway thing seemed to be better. Long story short, TWO WEEKS AFTER THEIR "COMPLETE REBUILD" THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. As I'm now in Oregon, I took it to another shop to who found that first gear was not working at all, and because they didn't flush out the cooling system, all the sediment clogged the trans and caused it to over heat. They declined to honor their 12 month warrantee, said that I would need to have the truck towed from Oregon to AZ or ship the transmission at my cost which doesn't make sense. At this point I'M OUT $3,400 BUCKS. Our only alternative at this point is to file a claim through legal avenues. Disappointed. Would recommend the dealer or a national brand that can honor warrantees through other shops. Update: Good News. We filed a claim with Visa and were fully credited the entire amount of this work. Skippy was very professional and kind receiving us after we were towed from the middle of nowhere to get the Transmission of our 3500 Commons truck fixed. Well, he took it out and rebuild it, but after only a few days we encountered problems. We called him up and he suggested that we needed to make sure that the cooling system was flushed out. Well who is the expert here and why did he not do this when he rebuild the trani so we would not have any issues. He suggested coming by the shop (about 300 miles south and away from our home on a weekend) to have it looked at to get it fixed. We drove home and my husband took our truck and camper all the way to Seattle where the transmission went out again! Yes, two weeks later. The repair was for sure costly (over $3K). We learned that we never had a 1. gear and that the clutch burned through. AATCO will not honor his work. He suggested to have the trani taken out, ship to his shop (of course it is a round trip of $1200 just for shipping it back to the northwest. We have to pay somebody to take it out and put it back in.... really Skippy for your half ass job we have to pay double. DO NOT TRUST AATCO TO DO A GOOD JOB. I went to my transmission inspection as scheduled today (10/1/20). I went back before 12 noon to pick up my car as it was ready, but no one called me. I was told nothing was wrong with it. But they did make sure to tell me that I had a problem with my right-front passenger wheel which I already knew. But my car was there for a transmission inspection and nothing more.I asked for proof of the inspection but never received an answer as to get any paperwork. The guy that does the paperwork was gone to lunch. So when I went to inspect my car and found that one of the guys had cracked my front passenger side rim wheel when removing a lug nut, but they claim nobody took off my wheel. I always inspect my car every day all the way around and I know before I brought it to AATCO it was not damaged. I am still sitting here waiting for the manager so that I can get some closer and paperwork to show that an inspection was done and to discuss the cracking of my rim wheel. If the problem is not resolved I promise that will make sure that the community knows not to do business with this company as they will damage your vehicle and not own up to it. I may be a black woman, but as a single mom I have to make sure all my household and vehicles are kept up and this damage is unacceptable to have happened to a first-time customer even if I am a woman who men think know nothing about a car. The owner came back I guess early from his lunch with an attitude and said I was trying to RIP him off and that the crack was old. Said I purposely went out to the car when I came to pick up and went straight to crack because I already knew it was there. He told me to call the police, but he wasn't giving me proof od an inspection or nothing. He took pictures of the crack like I hadn't already done that, took a picture of me through the windshield, and took a picture of my tag. So unprofessional. I just got in my car and drove off, but I'm about to blast him and his business on Facebook. I will never go here again. I rated one star as that is the only way I can get the mishap out to you all. Caution, DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU! When you pay for a complete transmission repair, rebuild, one would think you'll get 20, 30 or even 40,000 miles would not be unusual. Even if you get a 12,000 mile warranty parts and labor it's a risk your willing to take. So they sneak in a one year line next to that with no explanation ie, WHICHEVER COMES FIRST, guess what? In court you will loose even though their work only resulted in 7,456 miles before a complete break down. Oh yea they offered to repair it again for another $1,200. BAD WORKMANSHIP, BAD ON CUSTOMER SERVICE AND BAD ON KEEPING THEIR WORD. Verbal agreement and written agreement? Guess what? They claim there was no verbal agreement. The judge had no choice but to rule in their favor. So I'm just saying like you I thought they were an upstanding business in the community after my research. I FOUND OUT THE HARD WAY. Read and ask questions about their hand written warranty and do not depend on their word and handshake. Make sure the work order, payment arrangements and warranty are done before the work is done. One more thing, do not fall for the bring cash for a great deal. Makes one wonder if TAXES were paid on that? Just wondering how many ways I went wrong. Not to mention an 85 mile tow, court costs and cab fare until I could finance another car on my social security low income. They have several advertisements on the internet. Not one of them talks about their warranty. NEVER AGAIN AATCO TRANSMISSIONS. ps DO NOT GO OVER THE TIME LIMIT THEY GIVE YOU BECAUSE THE MILES PART MEANS NOTHING. Just wanted to say thank you for your honesty this weekend. We drove to Laughlin from Phoenix and the transmission was acting up so we stopped at this shop and asked if they could check the transmission oil. They did so with a smile on their face, even went as far as to drive it and put it on the machine. Bottom line I need a new transmission, but since my car was so new they told me to check with the dealership first and to come back on Monday if they could help and they would give me some options, I thought my warranty was up but turns out it is covered. Honesty and Integrity is what I got from the owner and his grandson. You guys are awesome and would highly recommend your shop to anyone. So my vehicle went in 5 weeks ago to get the transmission rebuilt. $1878 dollars spent to have them return a van that runs like doo doo. First they say, "wrong brain" so we spend money on a brain. They say "bad brain" so we send it back and buy another one at a different location. That brain is fine but my van is still not running right. Meanwhile, you can start my van but once you put it in gear it starts backfiring, popping and stalling. Hmmm, they did say something about "fixing" some wires when they rebuilt my tranny. Think that could be the problem? They say "Oh, no! We checked that over really good" They say "Bad MAP sensor, maybe?" We buy a MAP sensor. Van still runs bad. EVEN THOUGH the van can start and run in park now they say "Bad fuel filter or fuel pump" THIS GUY KEEPS TELLING ME HE'S A MASTER MECHANIC!!! I don't think so. Never, never never again will I let Aatco work on my van.UPDATE: I had my non-ruining van to Ron's tire & Mid Valley auto,they both said the fuel pump was fine,Aatco crossed wired the wires under the van & burned the ECM & coil.This was tested at Mid-Valley.When i called Aatco and told them what had happened.they started cussing & swore it was the fuel pump."They wouldn't make it right" read more
