We took our 2 year old here to get her ear pierced. Dr. Meena was very patient and took her time to make my daughter comfortable. The entire process was very smooth. Dr. Meena also gave us care instructions. My daughter didnt complain about any pain :) Will highly recommend going here if you want to get your kid's ear pierced. read more

Good doctor, in-fact very good. Pathetic front office. The Dr has to realize that she's being made to look so poor because of their inefficient, inept and inconsiderate front office staff. read more

Staff were friendly and welcoming. The pediatrician gave me off vibes.. at times detailed and attentive but I felt rushed too. Office appears to be extremely clean. The restroom was extremely clean. I do find it weird that there were no trash can in the examination room. I mean, this is a pediatrician's office, no? Wait. There is one trash can however, it is not intended for diapers. Lots of rules and policies imposed for financial gain. Call and find out the disclaimers. read more

I've been taking my teen daughters to Dr. Sathappan for the past four years. I am very happy with how she patiently talks to them about their physical and mental health. They feel very comfortable with her. The staff is friendly and patient. A huge thumbs up to the practice. read more

Dr. Sathappan is an extremely knowledgeable and caring pediatrician. My kids have been seeing her for about 3 years now, and she always is extra thoughtful to her patients. For example, when we first moved to San Jose, my son was bothered by a foot fungus. We tried over the counter remedies, but unfortunately, it wouldn't go away, so we called Dr. Sathappan. During her thorough examination, her disposition with my son and I was good-natured, and she assessed and prescribed a topical cream that quickly fixed the issue. She checked-in with us consistently the week after to make sure that he was feeling better. She told us to reach out to her earlier should anything arise. Since then, she's helped with my children's fevers, sporting injuries, surgeries, and emergency room issues. It's hard to believe, but my kids are excited to go to Dr. Sathappan for their yearly check-up. She keeps the visits fun and engaging. We view her as a friend to the family, and couldn't imagine going anywhere else. read more

We saw the doctor to get our 2 yr olds ear pierced. The1st appointment was usual. The ear rings fell off in 2 months. We took the ear rings back to them in 3 days off it falling off. We were told that they would need to re-pierce. Worst that they would charge us the same fees again. I expect accountability from medical professionals treating my kids. Its not ethical to charge your patient the same fees again. Get better quality ear rings instead. I don't recommend this provider. read more

We have used the services of Dr Meena Sathappan (Aasha Pediatrics) for over 10 years and have been extremely pleased with the level of service that we have received. Her office staff has been very efficient when it comes to setting up appointments or providing us with documents/shots history etc. The staff answers the phone, is friendly and professional. In the rare occasion that they have had to call us back they have done so promptly. In situations where our kids are really sick they have been flexible and able to get us an appointment to come in. Dr Meena has been a wonderful doctor to our kids. She is really good at remembering history / treatments and has been able to develop very strong bonds with both our kids. She has been very accurate in her diagnosis and is very pragmatic in her care. She is very friendly and is able connect with the kids and make them feel very comfortable. I feel that Dr Sathappan's has outstanding bedside manner and is very good at listening to you and your concerns. She is able to communicate very effectively and explain things to the patients in common person language without talking down to you. She is not afraid to to refer you out to a specialist when warranted. She is also very accessible in off hours and weekends. Their on call number has been reachable on weekends every single time we needed it. This is very reassuring to know. She is extremely patient and calming on the phone. Once again we are super happy to have her and her practice here in Evergreen. I would recommend her services without any hesitation or reservation read more

About Dr Meena Sathappan Evergreen San Jose California Let me start by saying that she is not a doctor but money making machine as she does not care about her patients at all and only care about the money She has been forgotten the pledge she took about taking care of the people rather has diverted her intention towards money making for past so many years Her treatment is horrible with most of the time wrong diagnosis and asking people to come for the visit irrespective of even they are asking to refill their prescription or need a prescription for school shots . The reason she ask that so she can bill irrelevant visit to the patient insurance to make money . We have experience her for last 10 years for my kidsI never always came out as do not want to hit someone's source of income until now when one of my daughter would have been permanently disabled or died if we would have taken her advice to wait from her busy schedule and proceeded with her treatment . I would be creating a twitter hash tag #TakeDrMeenaDown and putting the same in Facebook all rating sites . I really do not anyone's children go through of what my child went through last 1 month .I will also will complain about her to all major insurance company so they can remove her from contractual agreement. I have all kind of evidence of her not showing professional. Her keening on how to make money over human health . Not going in Details as to maintain my family medical records but will be happy to talk to anyone who wanted more details . The doctor and her staff are very mean and rude and their primary goal is to maximize the insurance billing / patient visits. They will be prompt in exploiting your medical situation and making urgent appointments but after the visit the urgency will go away for any support needed for referrals / coordination of care. We realized this in time and ended our relationship immediately. Will not recommend them at all as they care more about their financial benefit than actual well being of the children. read more

Response to comment by the facility below: It is sad to see this facility mis-characterize the situation that we faced on our last appointment. Fact 1: No attempt was made to reach out and understand what we faced that day. Fact 2: A sick kid was given an appointment and refused service at the last minute. If the intention is to be so vindictive for $20 late payment dues (and not past insurance or pas tservice payments), it would have been better not to give us an appointment rather than refuse service to a sick kid after we arrive at the late day appointment. This is simply unprofessional and uncalled for. On that day, from our experience, caring for the patient was NOT the priority. We have moved on with complete Nir-Aasha. read more

We moved to the Evergreen area around 6 years ago, and were looking for a good pediatrician for my baby boy and also my daughter who was about 3 years old then. A Pediatrician is like the 3rd parent of the child. They need to care deeply for the child. They need to know the child inside out. They need to give you sound advice which you can rely on completely . They need to instill confidence (and yes they need to be a children's doctor by profession :-). We were very lucky - as a few friends - whose kids were patients of Dr. Sathappan - suggested that we go to her, ..and we did ..and this has been one of the best decisions of our lives Dr. Sathappan is a very experienced pediatrician. She is extremely good at what she does (it is not just about the skill, she loves what she does and that reflects in the work she does with (all) our kids on a day-to-day basis :-) Whenever I take my kids to her - Her diagnosis is always accurate. She prescribes antibiotics only when these are really necessary. She is always very up to date - on what infections are going around, and does a thorough and accurate evaluation I remember this one time - when my daughter had a viral infection and Dr. Sathappan told us just do the Tylenol-Motrin route for few days and she was confident that this was adequate and that it was not a bacterial infection. After about 4 days - while the fever was gone - my daughter suddenly had a very hoarse throat and I started to feel very certain that this had turned into a bacterial infection. I got all worried and called her. She assured me that - based on the "bug" she had seen going around in the kids she had treated..- this was still - very much a viral infection - and that It would end with a day or so of hoarseness in the throat. She assured me that this was not a bacterial infection and I should wait it out for a day.... I followed her advice ....and JUST like she said :-) ...it was gone !!!!! :-) That was really amazing. From that day on - especially - I tell my husband and my kids - that she is a magician. :-) .... But on a serious note - I think - since she is so in-tune with what she does - that as a pediatrician she has the predictive abilities and instincts that can guide confused/ panicked parents very ably and steer them out of sticky situations This one time when I was going to take my little one to the emergency (for fever he had during evening hours)- I called her and spoke to her - and she confidently assured me that I should not do so, as - the symptoms (when she examined him a day earlier) - did not warrant an ER visit; and that I would end up tiring the poor child more (and that would not help the situation). I followed her advice and it worked! There are times when I have had my moments of panic as a mom and texted her on her cell and she has replied promptly with questions and advice, and I realized later that she was actually on vacation at that time (but she still took the time to reply to us). Dr. Satappan is God sent for us. Kids' health is one of the those areas where you will never want to compromise in ANY way- You will want the BEST doctor in the world for your kids. I must say - I am so lucky - I found that one!! Also wanted to add - We have always had a good experience with the Staff of Aasha Pediatrics as well. They are polite and always accommodate us when we need an appointment for urgent issues. In all these years of my interaction i have never seen a rude staff member/spoken to one read more

I went here to get my son's ears pierced and had a wonderful experience. Dr. Meena Sathappan was extremely friendly and talked us through the entire process to ensure we were comfortable. The piercing was done very professionally, and she made sure we were comfortable with the piercings location. Everything was very clean, and she gave us instructions on how to care for the newly pierced ears at home. We followed the simple instructions. Overall it was a great, smooth experience and would totally recommend. PS the office is super fun! Each room is decorated with a specific theme and even I had a great time while we were there. read more

My son has been going here since he was one month old. He is now 4 and will turn 5 in April and I have no plans to switch PCP's. Iv'e always liked this clinic and the Dr's. Initially, we just went to get my son circumcised back when he was born in 2011, which was $200 out of pocket, which was fine. Dr Sathappan did a great job and she is very heartwarming every time and remembered my son after seeing her for a follow-up, which I love. I mean, what parent doesn't love a caring Dr who remembers your child's name?! She mentioned that they were accepting new patients and I was thrilled. We only went for a circumcision and I was so happy with the experience and vibe there that I didn't mind switching. Dr Pilla and Dr Srey are great as well. Very caring. The staff is different from when we first started going here. They are nice. Exam rooms are always clean. They don't have trash cans in the exam rooms anymore and I can understand why- I'm sure people throw out dirty diapers, and that can make the room smell. read more

Our kids have been under the care of Dr. Sathappan for the last 12 years and we have nothing but great things to say about Team Asaha Pediatrics service. Dr. Sathappan is very knowledgeable, kind and caring. Whenever we have called and left a message, be it night or weekends and/or when we travel abroad, she is prompt to return the call and offer medical advice that has always worked. They often follow up for after-care as well. Never have they pushed us to visit the doctor, unless it was absolutely necessary. We have never been billed for any advice that she gave when we called in at off-hours. She talks well to the parents and the kids alike and explains in simple terms what the situation is and what the medications and side-effects if any. My children very comfortable visiting her for medical advice. They have squeezed in appointments for us either at the beginning of the day or at the end of the day when they are super busy, but we needed to see them. They have been very accommodating. We have had no issues with billing or insurance related issues. Like some of the other reviews, sometimes they run late, but then, which doctor's office does not run late? Very recently I went to visit a specialist with an appointment and he ran two hours late! It is best to plan for a 30-45 min delay with any doctor (more so later during the day), IMO. I'd rather visit a doctor who spends the time necessary withe patients rather than running off to the next appointment. Overall, I'd highly recommend Dr. Sathappan and the Aasha Pediatics Team for pediatric care! read more

We had to wait for some time as it was our first appointment and had to do paperwork, but Dr. Sathappan was kind enough to notice that and regret. She is very helpful in noting down baby's stats and giving explanation on each of it with medical standards. We felt very comfortable with Dr. in first appointment itself as we had to transfer from India to USA with difference in procedures / immunization schedules etc. Dr, offered to take calls any time if we are in need, which I am not aware if any other doctors offer. Will wait and see, if we'll be happy forever here :) read more

Dr Sathappan has been our kids(boy and a girl) pediatrician for a few years. However what impressed me most was that last weekend at 10pm when my daughter had fever, she actually picked up the phone and patiently talked to us. As parents, we're all worked up and emotional when our kids fall sick. it is really heartwarming to speak to someone like Dr Sathappan who really cares and makes parents feel at ease. Instead of just saying take your kid to emergency during off hours, Here is Aasha pediatrics going over and beyond! Thank you! read more

I was Dr. Sathappan's patient for about 10 or more years. After choosing a new adult primary care physician (PCP), I realized that there were some great things at Aasha Pediatrics that I took for granted. This review will be VERY DETAILED, since I believe choosing a pediatrician is an extremely important decision. I'll put a summary at the top of each long paragraph. QUALIFICATIONS: SUMMARY: Dr. Sathappan is well-qualified. LONGER REPONSE: An MD/DO and state license are the bare minimum to practice in California. You can learn more about Dr. Sathappan's MD attainment and residency here ( http://www.aashapediatrics.com/meena-sathappan/ ). Her state license is also up-to-date, which you can verify by searching up "Meena Sathappan" here ( https://search.dca.ca.gov/?BD=800&TP=8002 ). There are two qualifications that Dr. Sathappan has that you don't normally see in other physicians - maintenance of board certification and an FAAP designation. Board certification entails taking an exam after residency (the training you do after medical school) to verify that you didn't forget the material you learned during those 3-5 years. Remember, board certification is NOT required to practice. You can think of board certification as having three "levels". "Level 1" consists of physicians who are not board certified, which is more common than you would expect. "Level 2" consists of physicians who are board certified. "Level 3" consists of physicians who maintain their board certification every x number of years. Board exams are DETAILED, and some physicians think they're useless. However, I believe that Dr. Sathappan's willingness to maintain certification shows a commitment to her patients and that her practice is in sync with fast-paced changes. You can check that she's board certified and participating in maintenance of certification here ( https://www.abp.org/content/verification-certification ). The letters "FAAP" designates that she's a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, which provides additional reassurance that her treatment protocols are evidence-based. BEDSIDE MANNER SUMMARY: Dr. Sathappan genuinely cared for my well-being. LONGER RESPONSE: Looking back when I was younger, I laugh at the silly questions I've asked Dr. Sathappan. But here's the thing. I never realized as a kid that they were silly questions because she genuinely answers them with clarity. I never felt diminished in any way, which is very important. Ideally, your children will grow up with the same doctor. They should feel comfortable asking all the "embarrassing" questions about their body. Usually, I came in only for the annual check-up. Despite the gaps between visits, she would ask about my schoolwork, my peer network, and random funny topics. I've seen her note this information down to check on me during my next visit. Furthermore, Dr. Sathappan is knowledgeable of the Evergreen community. This includes school choices, cultural decisions, and more. Her recommended guidelines account for cultural differences, which gives patients and parents an easier time. Most importantly, she is confident in her experience, which reassures both patients and parents. STAFF SUMMARY: Dr. Sathappan's staff members are super kind and work efficiently. LONGER RESPONSE: My mom LOVES the professionalism and experience of Dr. Sathappan's staff members. They keep the practice working so smoothly considering all the tasks piled upon them. School paperwork, vaccinations, appointment scheduling, etc. With the shear number of patients that come in and out every day, I genuinely wonder how they manage. However, they tackle it all without sacrificing patient care. This is extremely important to consider. You might love a physician, but an inexperienced team will make your visits living nightmares. Luckily, I was always promptly taken in and never had any trouble. Also, I've seen how they talk to young children seated in the waiting room; they'll ask them about their outfits, compliment their hairstyles, and more. This establishes a connection between the whole practice and the patient, not just between your child and Dr. Sathappan. I still remember the dorky jokes I shared with them, and I believe it's a unique experience that merits strong consideration. ELECTRONIC HEALTH RECORDS: SUMMARY: Aasha Pediatrics uses electronic charts, which are convenient and easily accessible. LONGER RESPONSE: My new PCP and various other physicians still use paper charts. I never realized how convenient electronic records are. Records from years ago can be pulled up immediately during a conversation; there's no fumbling through mounds of paper. You can also access your child's chart online instead of asking for the carbon copy. When I switched to my new physician, the paperwork started piling up fast. It became apparent that an EHR is a valuable tool for both physicians and patients. Wrapping this all up, I have nothing more to say but THANK YOU for the phenomenal care :) read more

On 5/11 Sun our 10yr daughter bumped her head while playing and was exhibiting concussion like symptoms. She didn't pass out but complained about nausea and persistent headache. My wife decided to just to drop by the office. she did not have appt and told the front office person that she was willing to wait to be seen by Dr. Pillai in between appt. The office was empty but the Dr still refused to have us wait. Dr. Pillai asked my wife to come back tomorrow or go to ER. All we wanted to know was 'should we seek MRI or XRay'. this was a 10min conversation at most and my wife was willing to wait an hour or more---just to put her mind to ease. If we felt it was serious enough for an ER visit we would have taken her there the day before. Clearly, this place does not care about their patients. Needless to say, this was the last visit to this manufactured caretaker. read more

The office is clean, the staff is friendly and professional. The doctor (Dr. Meena) is capable, but she could benefit from learning better customer service -- her attitude reminded me of socialist hospitals in India where doctors acted like gods. She is not that bad, but she can make a better effort at listening to customer needs. She also feels very comfortable on giving unsolicited advice, which may be OK (and essential) to some, but with her "attitude", becomes a little irritating. Her staff is mixed. There is one attendant that is particularly obnoxious, while some are courteous as well. All in all, while some visits could be easy, some others just make you wonder how they get away with it (we have moved on since then) read more

My husband is an ER doctor and the Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital. And we have been taking our kids to Dr. Sathappan for the last 15 years. We simply cannot say enough about the stellar experience we have had with her every step of the way. She is a superb clinician- my husband has the greatest level of respect for her as a fellow physician and we trust her judgment implicitly. But on the personal level, she is also deeply caring, kind and empathetic and has gone out of her way time and again to ensure the physical, mental and emotional well being of our children. They always look forward to their visits with her and feel she is comforting, approachable, and easy to talk to. We are beyond grateful to her for her balanced, thorough and committed approach which puts our minds at ease as parents while uncompromisingly putting the children's best interests squarely front and center. The front office staff is always efficient, follow-up is prompt and service is top notch. They say it takes a village to raise a child. I got my daughter's ears pierced when she was 2 months old back in 2011. The office is clean and inviting and the exam rooms are cutely decorated. For $60, the piercing are done with a gun and with 24k gold studs. There were plenty of options on stones to choose from. It's very similar to what they would have at a Claires but I felt more comfortable having a doctor do this instead of a 16 year old. Initially during check in, a nurse/tech came in and had me pick out the earrings. I was worried that it would not be a doctor performing the piercing but then a doctor came in after. She looked at my ears and asked if I was happy with my ear piercing. I told her yes and she said that my holes are actually not centered and they were on the lower side and if I wanted my daughter's to be similar it would not be centered. I told her I'd prefer hers to be centered. She went forward with cleaning my daughter's ears with alcohol and she put a numbing cream on them. The she started marking them and said this was the most important part so we have to get it right. My daughter already started crying at this time but she was a colicky baby so I was not surprised. I had her make one adjustment on one of the ears and then trusted her to proceed. She had a nurse come in to assist and quickly pierced my daughters ears while she continued to be fussy. When she finished she said I can take my time since I was going to breast feed my daughter to soothe her. They sent me home with aftercare instructions and a number to call them if there were any infections. I have had no problems till this day and I have kept the same earrings in her ears. I was very happy with the piercing but my only regret was the location of the holes. I do wish I didn't choose to have them centered but it be more like mine and a little lower but that was my fault and not the doctor's. The important thing is the holes are symmetrical. read more

Dr. Meena has been our kids' pediatrician for over a decade. It has been an absolute pleasure to have her oversee our children's healthcare through these years.
