I really enjoy letting the general public know about some of the hidden gems in STL, and trust me, this is one of them. My firm rents space on the 10th and 15th of the Peabody Building (old Gateway One Building) in downtown St. Louis in between 7th and 8th street and Market and Chestnut. This building has a couple wonderful features that I wanted to share. (7am-3pm during the week)
#1 Aaron's Car wash in the parking garage. If you pull up the entrance (one way headed south on 8th street), follow the garage down to the 3rd floor. I pull my car in and hand them a $20 bill, for which they vacuum and wipe clean my inside, wash and put a light wax on the outside, clean and armarol the tires. In addition to all of this, they VALIDATE MY PARKING DOWNTOWN FOR THE DAY. People, if you are going to the Cardinals game, if you have some business or pleasure @ City Garden, Old Courthouse, etc park here and let these guys take care of you. My standard motto is that 'it doesn't cost that much more to be classy'. And nothing says you're a dirtball more than a filthy luxury automobile. Once you get used to this routine, I promise it will be very difficult to stop. They can also do a full detail, shampoo carpet deal for you as well. They're hard working, hustling guys, just work a good deal and they'll take care of you.
#2 Lee's shoe shine. Take the doors inside 6 North Cafe Coffee house on 8th and market and follow the hallway down 15 yards until you run into Lee, an great guy who has been shining shoes here for $5 for years. Again, there is no reason for your shoes to not look like mirrors. Nothing says amateur more than some guy wearing $30 scuffed up shoes. Invest in a nice pair of dress shoes and get them cleaned regularly. Its worth it, and Lee does a great job.
There are great character people in this city that perform little things that will in turn, support them and make your life classier and more livable. Get out of your own way people and start living the way you should live! Start tipping, buy the more expensive tie, start coming into the office Saturday's to get a leg up for Monday and see where the chips fall. Start living life with an abundance mentality and stop complaining....these places help put all this in perspective. Guys: women don't like dating/marrying/sleeping with guys who constantly complain and drive messy cars w/ cheap shoes....its science. read more
