Unfortunately, I did pay for one via a deal site called Lifebooker, which I will not use again. I had actually forgotten about the deal after a few calls to Spencer Massage. It eventually expired, but laws were passed a couple of years ago that expired vouchers can still be used in their original value, even if the discount expires. I called Spencer massage again and asked for an appointment - I was willing to use my voucher's cash value and still pay extra to get my massage. So, to be clear, I called Spencer and left voicemails both before and after the voucher expired. Eventually I called Lifebooker and asked for my money back - they basically said "sorry, talk to Spencer Massage." And since Spencer Massage never returned a voicemail, I just filed a dispute with my credit card company. They had the nerve to challenge the dispute. So no, this is not a lost needle in a a haystack or lack of organization - they spoke to a representative and made some sort of case for why they deserved to keep my money. I don't know what they could have said, but it had to be a lie, since I paid for a service they refused to provide. So I lost the dispute, and they kept my $29. It's not much money, but I'm very unhappy with the whole situation in principle. And if you're considering getting a deal from them, I'd beware - you might be one of the lucky few who get an appointment and are happy with their services, or you might just end up losing $29.

What I really loved was her work on my jaw - I clench/grind my teeth and have to believe a lot of my pain stems from this area. I'm also the kind of person that likes to know what's wrong and why, and Josh was very knowledgeable and very informative. I felt like I walked away with a better idea of what I was doing that was creating some of my issues, and what I could be doing to address them. Thai Massage can be pretty intense. If you've never tried it, Josh has a great touch and I recommend you start here. If you are already familiar, you won't be disappointed. 5 stars.

As someone who's been lucky enough to receive many Thai…read moremassages in Thailand several years ago, I was so excited to find an affordable provider here in Chicago (where they are either a rarity or beyond my budget). My experience with Josh has been far and beyond what I imagined. He is incredibly knowledgeable, highly skilled, and sincerely personable (while also being impeccably professional). I have now seen him multiple times as he's helped me tremendously with both acute and chronic pain issues from my work traveling or exercise activities/sports. Thai massage is not a Swedish massage, and it's very important to know that going in if you've never had one. It's not spa-like or always the most relaxing. He will maneuver your body in a way that can sometimes feel silly or intense, but it's actually having an impact instead of just feeling good for an hour. It is worth every single penny spent. Josh cares deeply about providing authentic, well-informed, and helpful care for his clients. He answers all my questions as I'm one of those annoying people who wants to understand every single thing he's doing and what it means for my body, etc. I have friends who've now seen and loved him as well- and from what I know he is very individualistic, being sure to provide YOU with what you need, rather than just doing the same thing for every client (both in terms of the physical but also the conversational, etc.). He is awesome and truly just wants to help you have the best, most productive bodywork he can offer. On a related note: he's helped me by teaching me certain exercises or tricks using household items that I can do between sessions when certain pains start acting up. He's gone out of his way to not just provide support during the sessions but to equip me with the information most helpful to help myself at home, too. I hope you all have as amazing an experience as I have. If I had the money I'd be there weekly. Thank you, Josh, for everything. I can't tell you enough how much the few sessions I've had have helped me this summer. -m

I went weeks in pain from a twisted ankle, from doctor to doctor, with tests, spending money galore, and in just one hour with David and his targeted methods, I was virtually cured in one session. Within one week, I was walking normally, without pain & without my trusted brace. A self-proclaimed body "engineer," David impressed me at my employer's health fair, where he provided some initial relief within only 10 mins, allowing me to leave on vacation with much less pain. He is what he claims to be: an injury therapist, specializing in nerve treatment. I didn't hesitate to call him again, after aggravating the original injury this past month and adding a horrific sciatic-like pain in my hip and leg, after a jaunt in the "ball pit" with my grandkids... turns out it wasn't sciatic at all, but rather a lower back muscle band aggravated by a twisted tailbone, which no doctor, nor chiropractor, was able to diagnose or handle! David and I were both a little surprIsed to hear the loud crack when my tailbone virtually moved itself back into place---instant relief! Needless to say, I HIGHLY recommend David for his easy, gentle & comfortable approach and handling, and most especially his TOTAL expertise and professionalism! Very reasonably priced for home visit; very dependable! Cannot say enough great things about him! AMK
