Our search found us at Juba, which is East African cuisine (Somalian, but not Tanzanian) food. Recos: 1) Hilib Ari (Goat with rice): Cooked with onions. It is a dry dish, wth falling of the bone tender meat. It is flavorful, not heavily spiced and not hot (for me). The intrinsic flavor of the meat is what I love. The accompanying rice is nice. Still 5/5 2) Lamb Shank: Very large portion. Delicious.I found it less flavorful than the goat. 4/5 3) Chicken Suqaar: Nice dish but not something I'll order again 2/5 We have gone back three times. The people who serve are quite, nice and generous to help with advice. It is a clean place. Lot of the customers are getting lunch between work.

The goat was flavorful and tender, and came on a mountain of perfectly cooked and seasoned rice. They also provided hot sauce and a lemon wedge. Others in my party got the chicken suqaar plates, and enjoyed their meals too. We all were obsessed with the bisbaas/basbaas (green hot sauce) that came with our meal, and I really liked the dynamic flavors in the food. Pricing is a little high, but the amount of food you get is generous. I'd definitely come back again and will plan to take leftovers home or share an entree.

Taste of Somalia is so good - I can't say it loud enough…read more The service is top notch. We had a lovely conversation with the owner and his cousin. We got chai on the house and they hooked it up with the sauces. We waited in the car and they delivered to our window. They used to open from 2-6pm(?) but changed their hours for Ramadan from 5-10pm to cater to their customers. The rice is extremely flavorful. I could eat the rice alone honestly. The meats are juicy with a hint of sweetness. The garlic sauce is perfect, I like the consistency. It's not super creamy like a ranch. It's more fluid, it comes right out of the container, no scraping needed. The green "hot sauce" gives the dish some acidity (although it can be spicier, it's more flavor than hot sauce) with the cilantro-vinegary feel and taste. The portions are huge. If you like The Halal Guys, picture that elevated. I am a loyal Halal Guys fan, don't get me wrong - I still love it, however Taste of Somalia is truly a level up. The Somali spices shine through delivering a much more robust and complex flavor profile. This is a must have. Thank you Taste of Somalia, can't wait to visit you again.

It was super flavorful, and fed my two toddlers and I with leftovers. The service was welcoming and friendly! I'm definitely coming back. Don't forget the milk cakes, it's just like tres leches my fav! The only thing I would do different is ask for more of the garlicky white sauce, I'm not sure what it's called but it was great!

This restaurant is near the Pancake Chef. The shop is small and the sign is hard to see it but It is located in the row of shops under the Pancake chef. The store is spacious with tables and chairs. My hubby and I went to the counter and ordered the Ethiopian Combination Dish. This menu has full size and half size, and the price is not so different, so I chose the full size and we decided to share it. They brought us a warm sweet ginger tea and two bottles of water while the waiting food. We love this ginger tea. There are only African customers in the store and Muslim people are praying near the place to wash hands. I washed my hands quietly without disturbing them. The staff at the shop are very kind, smiling and good service. Ethiopian combination dish is a homemade teff bread, chicken stew, lentils, spices chiles, lettuce and mix veggies. You can choose meat (chicken, beef, lamb) We ate injera, meat and mix veggies together, chicken was tender, spiced and delicious. We couldn't eat it all and took it home. It was even better the next day when I warmed it up in the microwave and ate it. I want to come to eat breakfast next time.

The people there were African, as was everyone else who came in during our stay. We came for Ethiopian food, and there was only one Ethiopian dish on the menu, the Ethiopian combo plate, with either chicken, lamb, or beef. We ordered the full combo plate with beef and it was excellent. Plenty of food for two. Three people like us could share a combo plate and still have an ample lunch. The menu has a number of interesting looking Somali dishes too. I'll have to try some of those in the future. Recommended.
