This was the case when my car was handling badly and a friend told me was told it was my transmission. I attempted to check the fluid myself, but couldn't find the stick to check it. I was told to check with AA Transmission. I brought my car in and asked them to just check it out and let me know what was wrong. A few hours later I got a call saying my car was ready. I get a ride back to the center and ask what the cost would be. They heard me tell them I couldn't find the "stick thing", and that I had no idea what was wrong. They very easily could've taken me for a lot of money. Instead, they were honest and told me it only needed a little bit of fluid. My final cost - the $3 in cash I had in my pocket. I would definitely recommend them to anyone. Honesty, integrity, and friendly service goes a long way these days.

I paid roughly $2500 for the rebuild, and it breaks after only three months? Well, I took it back in, they fixed it, again, as it was under warranty. Five months later, it starts to slip. I take back in, this time, I checked the codes, and it showed something about a stuck shift solenoid, and they ignored me when I mentioned it. They "fixed" it, but it didn't seem right. Now I am questioning if I should have a full diagnostic at a proper dealership for my truck as it has broken yet again, and I'm reasonably certain I'm outside the warranty period, but no other Aamco is willing to look at it, insisting I go to the shop that did the initial work, and I don't want to pay another $2500 to maybe get another year out of my truck No.. I used to trust Aamco, not so certain I can now.

If your car is going to fail on you, you want it to be in Christiansburg, VA, where Ashton's Place…read moreauto repair shop will take care of you! We were driving on 81 north to Manassas when the air conditioning started blowing warm air. Then the low battery light came on. Then some dash lights went out. We knew something was wrong and were just before the Christiansburg exit, so I quick looked on yelp and saw Ashton's Place not far with a 5 star review. So I started calling and Ashton answered and as I was on the phone explaining, the car stopped completely and we just made it into a little store just down the road from Ashton's. He said stay there, I'll walk down to you. He came with a portable battery & got us started. We drove to his shop and he took a look right away, and told us what it would cost and how long he estimated, which would put it past his closing time. He asked if we had somewhere to stay overnight; he assured us he would try and get it done or if he couldn't that night, definitely the next morning. He even recommended a hotel (which we loved!) and asked his coworker, Joe, to drive us there! Near the hotel was a restaurant we were eating. Halfway through dinner he called to say it was ready! They had stayed after closing to finish it. He even brought it to us at the restaurant! I don't know about you, but I've never had better service than that! Not many would go the extra mile(s) he did! Fair prices, outstanding service, honest, friendly... treating you like family. Can't recommend more highly!! Thank you Ashton and Joe. You made our breakdown into a easy, and stress-free experience.

I recently had a transmission rebuilt at this business and the cost was $2,700. The owner Jerry was…read moreas nice as could be when we were talking about prices to fix the transmission however I had a problem a month later that I didn't know was a very simple fix. I had the vehicle towed to the business and apparently all it took was shifting something into gear and I'm not a mechanic and was not aware of it. Jerry called me the next day and said there was nothing wrong with it all it needed was that simple fix. I apologized for my ignorance of that and also wasting his time, he proceeded to hang up in my ear. I was so angry that I had to have someone else go pick up the vehicle. If you want to get something fixed I guess he does a good job but if there is a problem afterwards it seems to piss him off, so I wouldn't recommend going there; find someone who is nicer and friendlier regardless of the circumstances.

On Wednesday, August 31st, my wife and I were headed off to the Easyriders Rodeo in Chillicothe…read moreOhio when our truck (pulling a trailer with a golf cart on it) broke down on the interstate. We called our insurance company and asked about roadside service. They said they'd get a tow truck to us. Well, we waited on the side of the road for 5 1/2 hours before they showed up. But that's a different review. But I wanted to set the stage regarding our urgency to get moving again. The trip should have taken us 6-7 hours. So finally, after the tow arrived we were on our way. They pulled us up in front of an establishment and we went inside to see about repairs and time. We were told it would be Monday (the day the rodeo ends) before they could look at it. Oh, the deflated hearts were terrible. Then someone showed up in the parking lot and we were sharing our story with them. They said, well, we're pretty slammed too, but let's get it down to our shop and we'll take a look. These men were from Straight Arrow Transmission just down the way on the other side of the parking area. They even got their own vehicle to pull the now disconnected trailer and golfl cart there too. After some diagnostic work, they suspected the coil was bad. Odd, because I'd replaced it a few months earlier. But, as it turns out they actually had a same model donor vehicle right there. So they pulled the coil from that vehicle and put it in mine to test. Sure enough, it fired right up. Then they contacted their vendor and had them deliver a brand new coil. When it arrived, they installed it and checked the truck out. All was great! Total time onsite was just under an hour. You don't often find folks who will stop what they're doing to help a traveler. But these folks did. They did it fast, they did it right and with laughs and smiles. This is the kind of stuff you look for when needing professional mechanical help. Great job guys! Sorry it took me so long to get this review.
