It's hard to find reliable people for a reasonable price, and when I do, I want to share them with everyone! AAA has a niche in that everyone else in Wichita replaces windows or if they do repair, they contract out to AAA for that. To my knowledge, they are the only window repair business in the area.
This sounds crazy, but what started my search was after moving back into my home, I noticed one of those shelf mushrooms growing at the bottom of my window. It freaked me out a little, so I called a handful of companies: AAA, Renewal by Anderson, Eaton's, and a few other contractors. The others only did window replacement. Some suggested replacing this window and even a few more. Renewal by Anderson told me all the windows in my home were due for replacement (and they would like my first born's soul in exchange for services;). I was concerned enough to do research on my own and given that it seems almost every part of the window was replaceable, I didn't see a reason to buy an entire window...especially if the gas between the panes is intact, which mine was. A lot of my windows have dry wood rot near the bottom of the sill or around the molding. I felt as long as these pieces were replaced and repainted to match my existing windows, I was ok with it. Between repairing and replacing, I was looking at a difference of a couple thousand dollars per window. I also went with AAA b/c Kingston, who visited my home for the quote, explained everything in a way that was easy to understand and wasn't making a hard sell.
Scheduling was simple, but I was told that 3 consecutive days were necessary to complete the job. Darryl and Hunter arrived on the appointed day and each day worked an entire side of the house. I had initially decided to repair all the windows, even the mushroom window. But after Darryl told me that it would be difficult to match the repaired interior of the mushroom window with the rest (so he would have to treat it without replacing the affected wood), I decided to replace that window after all. My concern was that the antifungal might not be fully effective...there was a fully formed mushroom growing inside my house. I didn't want one spore left behind. You do get a warranty for AAA's work, but I'd still have to pay now and then again if the problem recurs. I rather pay more for peace of mind and be done with it.
I'm very satisfied with the work done. Darryl and Hunter were both professional and reliable. They went above and beyond for the job. At one point, Darryl examined a sill that was set for repair and told me that upon further inspection, it was not rotted, but just needed a paint job. He saved me money, when he could have easily done the repair on a normal window with me none the wiser. Hunter then volunteered to paint the window for me. Both of them did this for me on multiple occasions.
I'm very happy with the work and the only thing I would point out is that if you discuss anything during the quote, you should have it written down. Kingston would tell me that they would do this or that for me and not to worry about it. But when I brought it up during the repair, it would cause confusion. I highly recommend AAA, especially if you only have a bit of rot around the sills or molding like I did...for the most part:) read more
