I've never had a worse roadside assistance experience. I was left stranded for over 12 hours waiting for help that never came. I called multiple times for updates and was either given no useful information or told they couldn't help. At one point, the call simply ended without any resolution. When you're stuck on the side of the road, you expect the service you're paying for to show up. That didn't happen here. If you're considering AAA for reliability or peace of mind, I would strongly reconsider. My experience was the opposite. read more

This is aimed at the Jerry Galka AAA Agency on Maple Rd. in Troy. Minus 2 stars. I have been trying for over two years to get rid of this agent. I filled out the required documents at the Birmingham office twice, signed by the managers, but he still sticks to me like stink on s*it. I have been a member of AAA since 1976...yeah, I know! And there were cars back then, in case you young whippersnappers were wondering. This location became my primary location to deal with starting in the mid 1980's because it was mid way between home and work. I contacted them for maps, tourbooks, triptiks (see Google if you don't know what this is), and more and also had them find me deals on travel packages with air, hotels, rental cars, tours, meals, etc. We got our passport pictures done here and it is still a reasonable price today ($8 versus $15 at the USPO). With the convenience and accuracy of GPS devices today, I no longer go in for triptiks. I do pick up a map occasionally and we still get our passport pictures done here. We have had to use their road services and membership is worthwhile for that alone. We had to cut back on major travel due to the poor economy; but we have used their travel agency services for international packages and cruises, etc. They have a knowledgeable and professional staff to assist in pinning down exactly what you want to see and do. read more

I really hate to do this to you AAA office Troy MI, for my 1 star rating will now drop your present 5 star rating. But after this maybe you need to change your policies a tad bit to make things easier for the shopper to the possible member. Before I continue with my experience and story, I would like to add here, you just lost a potential customer. She told me she will go with State Farm or whoever but not AAA. So I have a colleague, who is shopping for car insurance for her new car. I offered to help and call the AAA office in Troy, since I have two cars insured with them. Firstly at 11:45am till 11:57am I was on hold while the answering recording cycled through 4 different phones, stating all the reps are busy and how my call was very important. Then finally, Dawn came on the line, and I explained, I was calling on behalf of my colleague, who was standing right in front of me, and I/we needed a quote. She declined to give us any information, stating my colleague needs to call them personally for a quote. So I requested a ball park figure, and to this also she declined info, unless the person requesting info called personally. At this time, I thanked Dawn for her time and hung up, and my colleague stated, she will not go with AAA but with State Farm or whoever. So folks at AAA you just lost a referal from me and a potential customer. read more

If I could give this office fewer stars, I would. I've been an policy holder through this office for three years and I have spoken to my agent (Jerry Galka) a grand total of twice, once to sign up and once to quit my services. Let me give you some highlights from the last 3 years. - The receptionists are rude, flippant, and cold. I am always left feeling like I've interrupted them or that I'm wasting their time with my questions. - The reason I'd never spoken to my agent is because he was rarely in the office. Whenever there was an agent scheduled to be in that day, it was a mystery when their schedule actually began. I was told once that I should "try calling back in an hour or so. She's scheduled to come in at 10 but sometimes that means she doesn't get here til 11 or 12, you know how it goes. Give her a little bit of time to get settled." Incredible. - I tried for WEEKS to find out why my policy costs had skyrocketed, and even after speaking to several different people in the office, no one could tell me why or if there was anything that could be done. (One phone call to a different AAA office solved my problem immediately. So it's really just this branch.) - When calling to cancel, there was absolutely no question as to why I wanted to withdraw my patronage -- I think this is very telling about the agent, and the fact that he doesn't give a single shit about what my experiences at this company were like and how he could be better at providing his services. I am not saying that AAA is the problem. I think that my experiences interacting with almost every employee from this branch has been a negative one. They are mean, they are rude, and they don't care about you as a customer. I would strongly dissuade anyone who is considering this branch to look elsewhere. read more

Unfortunately the Troy ofc is the 1 that does passport pictures,and I can only imagine how long it would take for a 'voice mail' reply back . I've been on hold for 10minutes + which is not ex acceptable by today's standards, its rude not to be able to multitask,when a lot more business operations use that practice. read more

I have been a AAA member for many years. Most recently I went into the local office to get some "TravelCash" (Visa Debit card) for a trip we were taking. I was able to go right up to the counter and conduct my business immediately. The staff were very professional and efficient. I got my TravelCash cards and was on my way in no time at all.
