If you are looking for marketplace healthcare coverage, do NOT go with Shaun Blevins!! Shaun cost…read moreme $3084 in my 2022 healthcare plan. He did not apply a premium tax credit that I was eligible for. The marketplace directly told me that I'd been paying $322 per month, but that I should've only been paying $65. SIXTY-FIVE DOLLARS. If the marketplace can tell me that, why wouldn't an insurance broker?! I had to spend over an hour on the phone trying to recoup this money that I would've lost if I simply trusted Shaun. Now listen to the reason I even called the marketplace to begin with! Shaun completely dropped contact with me in June. I'd discovered that my taxable income was lower than he put on the application. So I asked him to correct my listed income on my account to lower my premium. He was so pleasant on the phone and told me no problem! He said he'd send me a screenshot of an update THAT NIGHT. I got nothing. So I followed up. I called and texted him throughout the entire following week. Radio silence. So naturally, this year, I opted to establish my own coverage. Done. Got my new plan picked out, got my new cards for the year. I'm excited. All of a sudden, I get a letter from my plan stating it's been terminated because I made a change to my healthplan...? No I did not. Without any contact, Shaun went into my account and TERMINATED MY PLAN, and re-enrolled me in a one that I did not agree to. Why even? Who does that? What does he even gain? The marketplace informed me that his name, number, and address should be listed when filling out an application, in order to note that someone is helping me with my application. No where was his information pre-populated, which informs us that nowhere is he reporting his involvement. NOT EVEN TO ME. He's just popping into my account. The marketplace even informed me that they don't recommend using agents or brokers, because the marketplace can independently do everything a broker does. She also ran through all of the ways they verify our identify and protect their users. That's not what Shaun told me when he was trying to sell himself to me 3 years ago. He has the nerve to send out letters asking for referrals after abandoning his clients and not even clicking the button to save them 3k? What is wrong with this guy. I'm your average millennial who doesn't like to complain or cause any upset. I have never left a negative review, even when warranted - but this absolutely cannot go without speaking on. I feel violated. Please avoid this guy.

I would rate Shaun zero stars if I could. He forgot to cancel my accident plan policy at the end…read moreof last year and it got automatically withdrawn from my bank account for January and February. After each withdrawal I emailed him and informed him of the problem. No response. In March when it was auto withdrawn again I called the office but couldn't reach Shaun. The office assured me they would fix the problem. Shortly thereafter I got an email from Shaun saying he was aware of the problem and he was in touch with the insurance provider to make sure it was credited back to me. Well here we are the beginning of September and I'm still waiting for my money. Numerous emails to Shaun to follow up....no response yet again. But he certainly does remember to send me soliciting emails asking for referrals. What?!?!?!? You seriously have to be kidding me! Do yourself a favor and steer clear.

I am just now updating this review. I only became upset at his response after he was rude to me…read more Despite not being able to offer instance for pre-existing conditions at the time, this salesman was very rude and condescending on the phone. Even though this was 8 years ago, I still remember this phone call.

My review was suppressed on Google. Rick Young also disabled reviews for his Facebook and BizARate…read morepages. None of the posted reviews were anything like my actual experience with Rick Young. On 10-8-18, I inquired about health insurance from Rick Young. He gave me a Marketplace quote of: Blue Cross Select HMO Bronze 2018 plan = $21.33/month Lifesecure Personal Accident insurance = $38.20/month Out of Pocket protection plan = $35.28/month When I spoke to him again, he asked for information so that he could prepare an application. He also wanted me to give him payment information over my cell phone. I held off on providing my payment information. I wanted to talk to him in person first. Rick Young called me again during the weekend. He said that all he needs is payment information. I again told him that I don't want to give payment information over the phone & that I want to speak to him in person next week. Mr. Young wouldn't schedule an appointment. He told me to call him when I'm ready. I called other agents. The other agents explained that the Blue Cross Bronze plan quote for $21.33 was low. I would pay back any excess benefits I received at tax time. I was also told that the accident protection & out of pocket protection plans were unnecessary. The other agents also said they would meet with me rather than take my payment information over the phone. I decided not to get a plan from Rick Young. Rick Young contacted me on 10-23-18, though, to ask if I would accept his quote. I told him that I spoke with other brokers who told me that his quote was too low. When I asked what income he based the quote on, he based it on a figure that was $7000 less than my actual income from my new job. I pointed that out & said that I also have a part-time job that provides additional income. Mr. Young said there was a miscommunication. He provided a new quote of over $260 per month for the Blue Cross Bronze plan plus the personal accident & out of pocket plans. I told Mr. Young I would think about his new quote. I rejected it, then got coverage from another company. Mr. Young called me again on 10-31-18. I told him I had already gottten health insurance from another agent & that his last quote was too high. I also said that I had never had a personal accident or out of pocket protection plan before. Mr. Young told me that the coverage I obtained will be discontinued on 12-31-18, so I will need new coverage for 2019. He said that the quote of $260 was actually for a Blue Cross Silver plan. He can provide a Blue Cross Bronze plan for over $160. I asked why he didn't provided that price before? He said his staff gave him the wrong quote. He trusted his staff to do its job properly. I told Mr. Young that I would verify what he told me with the other agent. Mr. Young asked me to call him back. I talked to the other broker, who verified that the plan would end on 12-31-18, but that I can find another affordable insurance plan for 2019. I called Rick Young's office back during the afternoon on 10-31-18 & left a message with his secretary saying that I wouldn't accept any 2019 options from him. During the morning of 11-2-18, though, I got 2 e-mail confirmations that Rick Young had submitted 2 online applications for me for the personal accident & out of pocket protection plans without my permission. I called the 2 companies. I had the personal accident insurance application cancelled that morning. I had to wait till the following week on 11-5-18 to cancel the out of pocket protection plan application. When I called Rick Young, he told me that according to his notes he had offered the personal accident & protection plans to me. I told Mr. Young that I had never accepted those plans nor told him to submit applications for me. I also reminded Mr. Young that I had left a message with his secretary stating that I wouldn't get 2019 coverage from him. Mr. Young had nothing to say. I am surprised that he used information I had provided to submit 2 unapproved applications. I submitted a complaint against Rick Young with the Michigan Department of insurance at (877) 999-6442. I won't have anything to do with the Rick Young Agency again.
