I really liked A.A.A. taxi's. I am a 22 year old student studying in Carlisle. A.A.A taxi's always got me where I wanted to go even showing me the easiest ways to get to certain places always a joy to use. Around 3 months ago I had an emergency and double booked a taxi, hadn't realized until I was off in one taxi and noticed the other poor bloke waiting outside my accommodation. I quickly admitted my fault and I was sincerely apologetic I felt terrible. The other taxi driver was a bit angry and put out which was understandable, after all I had wasted his time. Regardless of the mix up my driver got me to my destination and everything seemed fine. Ever since then my number started to go to a "I'm sorry we currently have no drivers available". Three months later I found out I was blacklisted for this one simple mistake. I know double booking is frowned upon but really? I didn't do it out of viciousness or spite and I did apologize over and over and tried to make amends as best I could. I'd made a genuine mistake while in a panic to attend to my emergency. Now taxi's in Carlisle can be sketchy at best but A.A.A. have always been reliable for me. Since my blacklist however for example I was stuck miles from my accommodation with broken toes and couldn't get any help from any other taxi firms. In this day and age it's not safe for a young female student to not have a backup such as a reliable taxi especially if like me they don't know Carlisle all that well. I find it so disappointing that A.A.A. have decided to take this course of action without even having the decency to tell me considering how frequently up until that point I had been using them. Very sad indeed :( So Pros: Excellent service, friendly drivers, fast, reliable, have helped me out many times during my first term in Carlisle. Cons: Not very understanding of mistakes, lack of communication, seemingly very harsh. Now this is just my experience, regardless of what has happened to me personally I can't recommend the drivers here enough. They have really helped me feel at home and settle into Carlisle showing me the important places I needed to go and just the general friendly banter and conversation that helped put me at ease and made things a lot more personal. Where I am from you may get a grunt and a Hello from a local taxi driver. It's definitely the friendly touch that makes A.A.A. stand out from the rest and was the reason I'd make them my number one choice. read more
