Same large soap bottle that is used as shampoo, body wash, and hand soap. There were also 2 large bath towels, no smaller hand or face towels provided. There is a hair dryer provided in each room as well as a pants press. A pants press is a giant board used to press pants. It'd be easier to provide an iron folks. Really. The elevator had this really cool looking touch pad which was different from what we were used to. It also was a bit dodgy when it came to punching in a floor number. The breakfast was standard English breakfast with additional yogurt, fruit, and granola snacks. For a decent night's stay, you really can't go wrong with an Ibis. It's not luxurious by any means but the beds are comfortable. The rooms are clean and is centrally located to most of the sights and restaurants. Most importantly, free WiFi.

Stayed here over a Bank Holiday weekend (Sun & Mon) and there was a huge difference between the two…read morenights. The hotel is on a very busy road with lots of pubs and Sunday night was horrendously busy with bank Holiday revellers. Not a major problem but the hotel was quite noisy, double glazing cuts down on the street noise but doesn't eliminate it. Monday night was lovely and quiet by contrast. Overall the staff were very friendly and the hotel is within easy walking distance of the shops, castle etc. Good value for money - but watch out on weekends if you're not partying!

The small touches were lovely e.g. slippers and dressing gown. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Staff were so helpful and attentive. I'm looking forward to the next stay.

Although just off the A75 outside of town, this Travelodge is set back far enough from the road…read morethat the traffic noise doesn't disturb too much. Rooms are the usual good standard that you expect from Travelodge; a very comfy king size bed and minimal room facilities. But clean, and with a good shower. Breakfast is limited either to a pre-ordered pack of cereal and juice, or you can go to the Starbucks next door. The options there are not much better but at least they have drinkable coffee. If you are prepared to walk 5 minutes and negotiate the busy roundabout, there is a Table Table restaurant next to the Premier Inn across the road that offers a more extensive (and expensive) pub grub-style menu. Other than that, you need to be prepared to drive into town for a decent meal. There's also a Shell garage with a wee shop that you have to drive through to get out so don't forget to fuel up!

The hotel has reached new heights under the present incumbents, Adam and Jan, and is very successfully presented as a comfortable country house hotel. The rooms are adequate to large in size, with good-sized en-suite bathrooms (shower or shower/bath). Decor is kept in good order and cleanliness is good. Adam oversees the kitchen, with a focus on locally-produced food resulting in excellent hearty breakfasts (featuring full Scottish, kedgeree, kippers, smoked haddock and toast from bread made on the premises) and high-quality evening meals (very good seasonal game and fish) served either informally in the bar or in the restaurant, both with fires in the colder months. The wine list is well-chosen, with something to appeal to almost every pocket and palate. Among the many things that make the Trigony unique are the home-baked shortbreads in the rooms, the artisanally-made toiletries and the views of red squirrels in the garden. The check in and out were quick enough and the receptionistd Nick and Alex were very helpful with all sorts of inquiries and needs I had, like trying to get the lamp to work. lol Its true that some rooms might need an overhaul, but it's nice to rest in an old hotel that was opened in 1938. A few paintings in some of the bedrooms and even the bathrooms would make the rooms even more cozy. The bathroom I had looked and felt like a hospital bathroom. The estate and previous house however has much more history and even goes back to the dark ages. The house has also has connections to Robert Burns who apparently made uninvited advances to the lady of the house and was banned from the estate. A small cottage, called Hermitage, nearby was used by him when he stayed in the area and he left part of a poem inscribed in the glass window. Lots of walks along the river and around the house can be enjoyed. The dining experience was a bit on the meager side as not much choice. For 2 course you pay £21, what is not good when there is nothing on the menu you like . Having said this they make exceptions. Everybody was really nice and I will definitely be back!

The owners were very helpful is so many ways as we started our hike. Like, did you know that on Sundays there is very little open in the way of restaurants in Carlisle? But the people here know which ones are and filled us in. A total life saver at the end of 15 miles. Room was roomy and overlook the street but very bright and light. Bed was great and plenty of space to store things, if you are into that. Breakfast was pretty standard and packed lunches were very nice. I would come back and stay here to explore the rest of the area.
