Update: 12/10/2019 My fiancé was told last Monday that he would receive a call within 72 hours after calling the corporate office. It's now been 2 weeks and we have not heard a thing. Additionally, I sent an email the same day to the mailbox replied in the response from customer on this review so he can be contacted securely which has not happened either. Go figure. My fiancé took his vehicle here on November 4th where various work was done. This included a coolant filler neck, a cooling system flush, rear brakes, rear rotors, a right side wheel bearing, and a power steering test. (The dye was inserted and and we were advised to come back at a later date because the leak could not be located). Also TPMS and engine sensors were replaced. The car was finished same day and ready for pick-up. To his surprise, the check engine light sensor was still showing on the dash. Fast forward to November 18th on his way to dinner with family, the car completely cut off. We tried having it jumped, but our conclusions led us to believe that the alternator was bad. It was towed back to Bob Sumerel, where the alternator was replaced, and a new power steering line was installed. He also paid for a power steering system flush. We received a call two days later on November 20th that the car was ready. Within hours after picking the car up for the second time and being assured that everything was installed correctly, the car once again cut completely off. It should be noted; this incident occurred while my fiancé was on his way to pick his daughter up early morning for school. After some highway travel, he departed his exit, and the car cut completely off in middle of the street, which led presumptions again to a bad alternator which was supposed to have been replaced. Thank God he, nor the kids were with him. Furthermore, thank God he was not on the highway, as I am sure you can imagine how dangerous this could have been. Once again, he had the car towed to be serviced. During the third inconvenient trip for repairs, after being told twice previously "the repairs had been made", one of the mechanics expressed that the "new" alternator had went bad. It was also expressed that one of the certified mechanics had taken apart the coolant hose, and forgot to connect it back, which led to coolant being leaked out of the car. The alternator was replace again, and the coolant hose was reconnected. At this point, it is questionable whether either parts were replaced in the first place as promised. It's also unknown why the additional issues weren't found during the first or even the second visit as the same issue was reoccurring. Furthermore, after retrieving his vehicle we noticed a substantial amount of gas used, and a car freshener which was on the drivers side is missing. Additionally, we also observed that the vehicle was leaking coolant fluid, and the shift lock released button has disappeared, (must have been popped to loosen the steering wheel when the car was completely dead). Lastly, the engine plate was not put on correctly, leaving the engine partially uncovered and the positive volt cover from the battery is now missing, causing the battery's positive cables to be exposed. In conclusion, after almost $3,000.00 in repairs and towing charges to now notice things missing, leaking, used, and not professionally completed; to say we are upset is an understatement. This is a business he has entrusted to conduct honest, reputable, and reliable work. To be inconvenienced, not once, twice, but three times, is preposterous and after reviewing previous YELP reviews, it appears we are not the only customers who were deceived by this company. read more

I had a flat tire and I came to this place to see what was the issue. Whether a patch, a new tire or whatever needed to be done. I waited around and they brought out my tire and rim and stated the Rim was bent- which I saw. They said they could send it to a "Wheel Doctor" and it would cost me 150 but that it would be fixed. After waiting a full day my fiancé called in and they said "oh yea it's ready". She goes and picks it up and drives less than a 1/4 mile to our home. I go to my car the following morning and the same tire is flat AGAIN. I called and was told to "come on in, we'll get you taken care of and move you right to the front". I get a call later that day saying that it was all done and it was ready to be picked up. Low and behold....they had to replace the tire as well.... an additional 110 dollars. However the main concern I have is this....they replaced it without even asking me. So I was basically in a lose-lose. I either pay the 110 to free my car from them or wait an additional 2hrs for them to take the new tire off and put my old one back off and put the spare on. I have no problem with paying for the Rim or tire but I have a serious problem with not being consulted with before it was done. They basically trapped me into having to pay for it. read more

Took my car here for an oil change and tire rotation and the tires weren't even touched. This is the second time this has happened to me alone at a Bob Sumerel - say they will do a tire rotation, add it to the statement, come to find out it wasn't complete. read more

There's free air. Hurrah! However, the manager felt compelled to come out and mansplain everything to me because, you know, I'm a woman. (Funny, he didn't come out while the male driver ahead of me took twice as long to fill his tires.) I was three-quarters done already when the manager incorrectly guessed my tire pressure and didn't believe me when I told him the correct pressure was lower, going so far as to check the label on my door frame once all the tires were filled. He then topped off his mansplaining by asking if I had been sure to put all the caps back on. Sheesh. It's fine to be friendly and represent your business, but know when you've crossed the line to being condescending and patronizing. read more

We were so hoping to find a new place to take our car for trusted service but, alas, this is not the place. We needed new tires and the service rep was quite helpful. The tires were not in the shop, which was fine, so we needed to come back the next day. We went ahead and paid, however. When we got home, we noticed there was a charge for "Tire Protection Package," that we had not discussed with the salesperson. When I went back to get the tires, I asked, and learned that this was an additional charge to cover flat tires or other problems pro rated over the next 36 months. Even though the total was a little under $50.00, it bothered us that we had not been asked whether or not we wanted this additional service. I asked for it to be removed, which they did, but I will not go back for future service for fear that other charges will be added without my knowledge. read more

The first thing I noticed was a wonderful smell...which is weird considering this place doubles as a tire place. It smelled fantastic as soon as the door opened. I actually went to get my international driver's license so I could drive on an upcoming trip to Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia. My wait was about 5 minutes to be seen. There were some camera issues that were quickly resolved so no issue there. I took my photos and got everything I needed all within 10 minutes. EVERYONE here was so nice! After the initial push to get me to buy AAA services etc. they were actually really genuine and I stayed about 20 minutes after I got my international license just to talk about art and travel. We talked politics and for a minute I felt like I was in someones home! I had never been here and really cant imagine why I would go back (other than when my license expires a year from now) but I had a great customer service experience here. If you knew me, you would understand what a rarity that is As a woman I am always skeptical when encountering auto repair shops, but let me tell you this business is top notch! The service and expertise I have received from the technicians has been high quality and dependable. The true gems of the location are the managers John an Jeff. They are honest, patient, and courteous. I truly feel that they treat me the way they would want their wife or mother treated. They do good business, so they stay busy. My elderly neighbor got a "check battery" warning as she was driving nearby on a morning with sub-zero temperature. Although they were very busy, they couldn't have been nicer. Could have easily sold her a new battery, no questions asked. Instead, Troy tested it,recharged it and told her there was no charge because he could tell she was having a bad day. Ditto to what K.P. reviewed on 6.11.2016 about Bob Sumerel Tire & Service-Red Bank in Cincinnati. The morning manager John is the best customer service person I have ever worked with. He is involved in every step of the process, making certain that all procedures are executed with the best possible practices. He is on the shop floor, as well as at the customer service port. He will give you appropriate alternatives for tire brands and uses. He remembers customers and their particulars. He is very courteous, intelligent, detail-oriented, and professional yet personable and kind. He has respect for his staff members, and they respect him. Staff members are efficient, on task and knowledgeable. I could easily go to another tire store. Generally, I find Bob Sumerel stores to be easy to work with. But, when a customer receives such great service, I will drive to this establishment, and the reason is the customer service from John and his crew. In these days of questionable practices in the work world, it is very refreshing to find such a wonderful, reliable place where people take pride in their work, from beginning to end.
