My Husband had his Sprinter van towed, through AAA. AAA hired a fraudulent driver. The tow truck fell off the truck and hit 2 parked cars, totaling my Husband's work van. The driver had no registration or insurance and fake plates, which is all in the police report. AAA is claiming no responsibility. I had to call ten times. The customer service agent I spoke to was brand new and I kept giving precise directions. The CS agent didn't know how to use Google maps and kept getting the incorrect location. It took 10 service calls, 3 hours, I had to call the police and pay $200.00 and to get the car towed. Called for Roadside assistance at 11:52 am was sent a text message driver should be there at 12:45 I called at 1:45pm and was told should arrive in 2 hrs. Then get a text message at 6:30 pm driver should arrive shortly. I canceled because I paid $400 for a tow cause I was waiting for 5 hrs 7 hrs later the tow truck company calls and says sorry but I only got 2 drivers. It's totally mind blowing to think someone should have to wait almost 8 hrs a full working day for a tow. A service you already paid for. read more

FORTY THREE YEARS. That is how long I have been a member of AAA, and I can count on one hand the number of times I have ever called them. My membership is with AAA New York, but my road assistance need was by Newark Airport. I was about a mile outside the airport a few days ago when my tire blew. It was 6:30 in the morning, I was in a suit and quite frankly my tire-changing days are over. I called the AAA road service number and got the recording telling me that they are busy assisting other members (right) and they would be with me soon. I waited for them to answer for 20 minutes, and then finally some woman with a bored voice got on the line. I gave her my membership number and explained what the problem was. She said "Hold on", and then I heard a click. Next thing I hear is the same damn recording I had been listening to before. She put me back in the wait line! I needed the help, but after waiting another 15 minutes enough was enough. My car insurance company gives its customers free auto service, so I finally hung up on AAA and called the other service. Someone picked up in about a minute, asked me if I was in a safe location, and then proceeded to take my info. In about 20 minutes their road assistance truck pulled up behind my car, and in another 15 minutes my tire was replaced and I was free to go. I am totally disgusted with AAA and regret the fact that I've supported them with my membership for so long. When I needed them they were worse than useless. I will not be renewing. read more

I've been a member since 1997. I have used AAA only a handful of times. Now that I really needed roadside assistance they let me down big. The rep was nasty, argumentative, condescending and cut me off when I attempted to explain the situation. After berating me for 15 mins she told me she couldn't help and she would have a manager call me back. The manager did so promptly and was equally unhelpful. They really seemed to go out of their way to make the situation tougher. It was if they were reading from a script and were unable to deviate from it. They suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I lock my keys in my car on Sunday. I called and waited listen to the announcement the all were busy after 45 minutes someone answered. They told me that no vehicles would be leaving the garage because they were told not to by the Police. I was told that they would come MONDAY!!!! but I would have to call again because they would not take my name and membership number. My car broke down and I had it towed from my home to a repair facility 5 miles away( actually the closest to where I live) That went smoothly but the facility called me and told me they looked at the car and they do not do the type of work required. They recommended another facility three miles from them. So I called Triple A to get it towed there. AAA said they would have to charge me ( ok I get that) BUT I had to be there when the car is picked up, even though they picked it up from my house and towed it there originally. I told I had no way to get there and there is no car service around here. I told them I was not going to walk 5 miles just to point out the car they originally towed ( then walk back 5 miles). They refused to help me and hung up. POS people working there. I called the 2nd repair shop and they gave me the name of their tow company and one call did it. It is being towed today. BTW the car is 2008 Lincoln with 160,000 miles...not a car anyone would want to steal so why the uptight "security". I feel my membership is next to worthless. read more

Myself and my wife and my sister at AAA Premier for years and the one time I needed them in New Jersey was the absolute worst I waited 5 hours it's not quick it's not good nobody none of the station's want to come and help because AAA is not a priority to them yet you command premium prices it's just not worth it it needs to be revamped completely. read more

If I could give ZERO stars, I would!!!!!! I am so DISAPPOINTED and UPSET at these people working here including the supervisor Ruth. This company has totally lost us as their customer. Let me tell you that I am sit in my car for the past 10 hours at this very moment! I requested a tow because my car broke down and they have assured me to come get my car. As I follow up with them 3hours later they tell me that the driver is on its way but they are unable to provide ETA. So I wait! and nothing. I call again and ask to speak with a supervisor (she was extremely rude) she says the driver is almost there and second later she say that the driver is at the location. There was NOBODY! She was literally LYING to me. Then she tells me they have no driver?!!!!What kind of business or human being work there?! I could have called a private towing company to get me out of here if they would just be honest with me that they business has such poor service and I better not do business with them. I will NEVER recomend this company and I will make sure that they pay for all the costs that I have wasted due them. read more

Update, they gave me back my membership fee last month or two months ago. they are just horrible. I tried to cancel my renewal and they said you had to mail a request in like this is 1987 without the internet. Also, I left a complaint with both Wayne and their main corporate and neither has called me back. And to top it off they harass you with phone calls to renew and mailings. I have been a member of AAA for many years and have rarely needed to use their roadside assistance however I did use them yesterday. My car wouldn't start after playing tennis at my local club. The AAA service man arrived within 30 minutes. He used computer diagnostics to check not only my battery but the rest of my car to determine whether anything else was causing my problem. He gave me a printout of the results and was extremely professional. He charged my battery and had me back as good as new in no time at all. I stopped in office to ask some questions about towing and membership and got a lot of wrong answers. They said their is no set rules and the person I should ask take no calls. Break down on GSP and we might pay you but no clue what limit is. Get a tow in NJ TPKE and you might have to pay extra for tolls which may or may not get reimbursed. I had AAA many years ago and got screwed by them. I was going to get membership for my son but want to know policies regarding different options. They say nothing is in writing and everything is decided after the fact. What a horrible way to run a business. I asked for a manager or name of a manager and my request was denied. They still have a reasonably priced membership for $60 a year. But the new rule is, you can only be towed 3 miles. Who only goes 3 miles away? If you want more miles, $88. Sure the service is good, and my last tow was less than 3 miles, but what happens if you go to the mall which is 7 miles away from here? It's hard on fixed income seniors. read more

I have been a member for several years and have been able to use AAA once in a while when I came out of my house or work and discovered I had a flat tire. However, when I recently broke down on the highway, I learned just how bad the service is when you have a real emergency. First, I was on hold for 45 minutes. Then I discovered that the member clubs do not share the same database, so there was confusion as to whether I was an active member, whether I used up my service call limit, etc. We finally got that ironed out and I was unable to give an exact location on the highway and they couldn't help me. I told them roughly what exit I passed, which side of the highway I was on, what sign was across the road, etc. and I was told they needed an exact location. The only options were to get out of the car and walk to the next mile marker and read it to them or call 911. The rep patched me in to the dispatcher at AAA, who was a little nasty and asked "What do you want me to do if she doesn't know where she is?" OK, called 911, the police came and, soon after, I had a tow. In light of all of this, I tried to find out exactly how many service calls you can make each year, since I didn't see it in my renewal packet that arrived the same day as my car issue. I had a lot of trouble finding it on the web, too. So I emailed and asked for the number of service calls and was given, instead, how many miles you can be towed for a basic membership. That was good to know, but not what I asked. I eventually found the information buried on their site. Except for the rep I was talking to the day I broke down, who was trying to be helpful, I just feel as though AAA probably should get out of the ERS business and stick to being a provider of discounts. I had the WORST customer service yesterday, Sunday, July 29, 2018, from membership dept. "Deb" based in Providence, RI. I am a 37 year member who originally called to have a flat tire repaired thru NNJ Roadside Assistance. Instead I was sent to Membership where I was treated rudely, was refused service, repeatedly told "No" by her, instead of answering my question. She tried to hang up with my by saying "Have a nice day" but I stopped her and reminded her that we had a service contract. And also refused to be allowed to speak to a supervisor. If this is how you're treating this AAA veteran, then maybe it's time to move on. Very, very upsetting. "Deb" and her attitude, needs to go. In order to get ride of me, she sent to back to Roadside Asst where I asked Ella to speak to a supervisor, who straightened things out. I will say that "John" from Dynasty road service was EXCELLENT. Great attitude, very efficient, quick spare tire change. John is the kind of worker you need more of, not "Deb" from Providence. read more
