I was offered a sale on 4 new tires for my Honda CRV buy 3 and get 1 free for the low price of $900. I also asked to have my tire sensor replaced because my sensor light was on. I was told the sensor was fine I only needed to push the reset button. That was last week and the light is back on. I went to my regular tire center and got the 4 tires for $600. I'm taking my truck back there for them to replace the sensor. I only joined AAA because my mechanic retired. I will try the facility in Norfolk before I decide if I'm going to renew my membership. read more

AAA car care centers are an affordable and reputable alternative to some of the other chain automotive store. Offices and service bays are large clean and visible at this least at this location. However, depending on the in house crew you may receive that typical 'skeezy' car service notorious for the industry. The kind of service you just know is a hunting expedition that treats your wallet as if it's a bottomless well. I hadn't been to this location in several years because I had a particularly unprofessional and distasteful interaction with the service manager honoring their discount card. But I figured why not give it a go? So I came in on a Saturday, today, at open 0800, for an oil change and state inspection. Easy. Clerk says they can get me in after 1300 that day and have my car back at close- 1600. I saw ONE technician. Back to Suttle Cadillac or CarMax Service I go. ‍ Note- Williamsburg and Suffolk AAA are better locations than Hampton IMO. read more

My car stayed there for a 1 week and never was touched. I called and told me that they were short of staff. They have no care or concern I needed my car. When i called to check on my vehicle they would say we are about to get to it. That day never came. I filed a complaint with AAA and someone contacted me and informed me you picked up your vehicle before we could repair it. Five days is plenty of time and the vehicle never left the spot where I parked it. My advice is STAY AWAY! read more

I've been going here for years. Their work isn't cheap, but the general quality of the work isn't cheap either. All of the mechanics I've spoken to there are very personable. Derrick and Trey are great and I trust their work especially with my old '98 4Runner. Also not all car services will work on Subaru vehicles, beyond things like oil changes, but they did the plugs on my '14 Impreza which can be a little harder due to how Boxer/Flat engines are designed. The experience was unbelievably bad! I called AAA roadside service to tow my 2012 Smart car from a parking lot. AAA dispatched a tow truck from Freedom Towing. After arriving, the tow truck driver said I would need a wheel lift truck to tow my car. He said he could try to tow my car with the truck he came in, but I risked damaging my car. I said I would wait for him to bring a wheel-lift tow truck, and he left. I waited four-and-a-half hours, and finally called AAA again. AAA dispatched another Freedom Towing driver. I found out from the second driver that the first driver was supposed to call AAA to request a wheel-lift truck for my car, but he had not done so. This second driver said he would call AAA and let someone know I needed a wheel-lift truck. Later, another AAA representative called me and canceled my service call, telling me my type of car could not be towed with a wheel-lift truck. For some reason, AAA thought my car was a Volkswagen, which cannot be towed with a wheel-lift truck. However, I did not know at that time that AAA thought I had a Volkswagen as the AAA representative did not name the make of the car. She simply said "your type of car cannot be towed." I had to lock up my car, leave it where it was and get a ride home. Overnight, someone vandalized my car, smashing a window and stealing some items from the vehicle. After speaking again with an AAA representative, I discovered my car had been misidentified as a Volkswagen, and it could have been towed if the mistake had not been made. I wrote the corporate office, stating I believed AAA was responsible for my car's damages. AAA denied responsibility, so I took AAA to small claims court. I had to represent myself as I cannot afford a lawyer. AAA sent its corporate lawyer, who misrepresented the facts during the hearing. (In other words, he lied copiously.) From the lawyer's statements, it appears that Freedom Towing also lied to AAA about what happened, but I can't be sure if the lawyer was lying about what Freedom Towing told AAA. In the end, I lost the court case. After this debacle, if I need a tow, I just call a tow service myself. I will no longer use AAA or Freedom Towing. read more

The AAA car center is very clen,spacious and the front desk representatives are very friendly. The two-star rating is due to the unexpected long wait time. After having made an appointment for 10am for a battery change(pretty simple,right?), the car was not been taken back until 1130a. So be forewarned, if you have an appointment time, be prepared to wait an hour or more. read more

This vendor is dishonest. They asked for a partial payment for a part that was supposedly coming from Japan. After waiting almost 2 months I was informed that the part was discontinued. I asked the vendor to return my money and they refused. I am currently filing a small claims court case and a complaint with various agencies. DO NOT get anything done at this facility. Unprofessional in customer service. Not friendly or helpful and make people wait for hours for free services like patching a tire. Unable to put down correct information and therefore unable to get work done in the proper manner. Duh that is very important. Not first time they have gotten it wrong. General Manager and associates unfriendly and unresponsive to how to make things better, Customer is not always right at AAA which is definitely not good in my book, whether service is free or not, customer should always be made to feel respected, listened to and that service given is honest and ethical. Not so in my experience. Me will not go back which is what I think they wanted so will not renew my membership with AAA. read more

Update... After filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau I got a call from AAA. It seems that they had the wrong address for me. When the car was towed in, AAA Car Care in Hampton used the address where the car was towed from -- not my residence. The check for compensation had been sent to the wrong address at least once. The AAA representative on the phone was apologetic, and after verifying my address I soon received the promised check by way of FedEx. *** If you have a Ford or Chevy, AAA is probably Ok, but for German imports I would recommend finding a more qualified repair facility. read more

Brought our own tires to put on around 10:30, they didn't pull the car to the back and begin to put on the tires until 11. We are the ONLY ones sitting in here & there are NO cars in the back so they aren't busy . Here it is 1:00pm and we're staying waiting for them to put the tires on ! To say I am pissed is an understatement. We will NEVER come back here again NOR will I recommend anyone to come!! read more

Don't have your car inspection done here. They'll nit-pick to find anything to reject your inspection and see if they can get you to have them repair it. My brakes were rejected so I chose to replace them myself. I brought the old brakes to another automotive service and I was told they were okay. It still had the wear line visible (there must of been a mm or 2 distinguishable). Other items were rejected; which I questioned too. read more

so this place has my excursion for 14 days saying the problem is a fuse box under the hood. but they never took the part off. three different times the place they get their parts either put it on the wrong truck forgot to put it on the truck then on third time sent the wrong part. so I got a fusebox online cost with shipping 201.00 . part came in I brought it to them, and then and only then they finally took the part off,and after they did it turns out that wasn't even the problem. the problem was a wire under the fuse box. so they change the wire,,,now remember fusebox was fine but they change my fusebox anyways why hmmm just to be able to charge me 289.00 for changing it wow... theres many aaa car care centers that are excellent and treat a customer with respect and don't pull this mess with people,but then there are some that do what they did to me. read more

I took my car to the Hampton location for a battery replacement. They offer a 3 year warranty, my battery totally died in 2 years. It took from Tuesday night to Thursday morning to put a battery in my Chrysler. While it was in the shop, the tech who replaced it for free, noticed I had a recent inspection sticker, and bad front brakes. He called the state police to come investigate why my car had a recent inspection and needed this repair. If AAA had wanted to sell me something, they should have called me, not the state police to pull my inspection sticker. It was valid, so the police left it alone. Imagine a company that would go to the extreme of trying to get your inspection sticker removed, when all you went in for is to have a battery, that died way ahead of its expected life, replaced under there warranty, Watch this shop for its vicious tactics, if they had sold me a battery that lived up to its proposed performance, we would not have this problem to begin with.
