Dr. Ahn saved me! All of a sudden, I could no longer get…read morenumb from the "standard" way.. my old dentist just frustrated the situation by becoming defensive and not giving a solution.. I stumbled upon this place because an old friend from high school was a dentist at the North Brunswick location .. he happened to leave right when my family started to be seen there.. I was given Dr. Ahn as my dentist instead.. and the rest is history. He completely numbed me (using an alternative method) and worked on fillings. He also happens to be very pleasant and patient (I'm a very antsy, nervous patient). They also treat my husband and daughter.

I went to KK Dental in 2019. I stopped seeing them because I lost confidence in the Periodontist. I…read morelearned later that she had not been certified for a year yet. My case required a big sinus lift. Her lack of explained her apprehension. What I didn't understand was why there was not a senior Periodontist there to assist her due to her lack of experience. In 2024 I got a bill saying I owed $404.80. I called asking what the bill was for and I was told by billing that they did not know, but they knew I owed $404.80. I asked for the head of billing, thinking they would know what it was for. I was told they did not have a head of billing. This went on for months. I finally told them I would not pay them if they could not tell me what the money was for and show me that my insurance denied it. Then they turned me over to a collection's agency owned by an attorney named David B. Watner. I didn't pay them. Then I got sued in Small Claims by KK Dental, but represented by David B. Watner. I turned them in to the Attorney General of NJ, which you should do if this happens to you. I found other people experiencing the same thing online. I went to court and we went before a mediator. I agreed to settle it for $250. (They had added on fees to get it up to $500.) This is why I settled. One, I'm not an attorney and I could always lose. Two, The average attorney in NJ earns $348 per hour. The $250 is below his rate and KK Dental should not get anything. AND I'm done with it. On top of that, I served him with discovery requests, which gave him billable time that KK Dental had to pay. (I'm assuming he is not married to someone in the KK Dental family or running some kind of money-making scheme with KK Dental.) The biggest question you have to ask is, Why does KK Dental have an Attorney/Collection Agency on their payroll? How was it beneficial to go to court for $404.80? Most importantly, why did they wait 5 years to bill me? And, why is NJ allowing dentists to bill so far out? The insurance company is required to respond to a claim in a specified time, which is usually 40 days. Why aren't the dentists required to bill within the same amount of time? This is the Docket No.: SCP-2025-3573239 and Case No.: UNN DC-007738-25 for my court case. A word to the wise: Do not give any healthcare provider your social security number. They do not need it to provide healthcare. It is so they can threaten to damage your credit if you have a dispute with them. Tell them it is none of their business. Do not give them a credit card to keep on file either. They will charge your card when they did not get a preapproval for a procedure. They should be required to get everything preapproved. If it is not preapproved, they need to tell you exactly how much you will be out of pocket BEFORE they start the procedure. Don't be afraid of these people! Stand up to them!

I love this place! I go here for any teeth related problems ever since I first discovered them…read morealmost ten years ago. They are open 4 or 5 days a week (closed Sunday & Wednesday I believe). The only inconvenience is they aren't primarily practicing orthodontics - so their orthodontist only shows up every other weekend on Saturdays (twice a month!). They are extremely friendly - and their entire staff is Chinese and they primarily speak English, Mandarin & Cantonese. They all listen very well to your problems and genuinely care then try their best to fix it. Also, one of their middle aged receptionist there is very sweet and caring - but then again their entire staff is too. I feel like they are better than a therapist because every time I visit, they always ask how my family, work and life is and seem to really care. They have flexible scheduling as well, always allowing me to arrive early or late or reschedule any time I need to. Appointments are preferred, but I believe they take walk-in visits too. Typically, wait times are relatively short, anywhere from 1-15 minutes. So, every month I come here to get my braces tightened and rubber bands on them changed. Then, every 6 months to a year I come to get my teeth cleaned (smokers teeth always go yellow!). They do a pretty thorough job and it's cheap too - only $85 for teeth cleaning without insurance (I know most places charge over $100 these days). When I was about 20, they removed all four of my wisdom teeth and did a great job. Without dental insurance it was kind of pricey though ($250 per tooth I believe). They also gave me a root canal and 11 fillings for all my cavities AND put my braces on when I was 26 (drink milk kids - and don't eat chocolate every day - and brush every day at least twice - and floss - or you'll have as many teeth problems as me!). Anytime I have any tooth pain of any kind, they give me an xray to see if I have any cavities or problems with the tooth. They never charge me extra for the X-rays either unlike most dentist places. At one point I was homeless and had braces still on, I went in for monthly visits but was too broke to afford the monthly tightening cost of $182ish (I have clear braces on so they costs me more). Thankfully, my orthodontist gave me about 6 or more visits for FREE - completely free - he tightened and replaced my rubber bands and even fixed a few broken braces & wires during those visits (I ate popcorn and chicken on the bone breaking them - and they always tell you not to for a reason!). They are almost like a second family to me - I love them so much that I bring them freshly grown Chinese vegetables I grew from my garden. I recommend this place to anyone looking for an amazing dentist - whether it's a root canal, braces, toothache, fillings or cleanings - they are extremely friendly, caring, patient, quick & cheap.

It saddens me to write this review due to my very short interaction with Dr. Erakat. I brought my…read more15-year-old daughter into Dr. Erakat's office to remove her wisdom teeth for a consultation. I did a lot of research on dental surgeons in NJ, and we were impressed with his reviews and expertise. Unfortunately, Dr. Erakat's lack of bedside manner and professionalism has deterred my daughter and me from moving forward with the surgery with his practice. Dr. Erakat walked into the room and immediately started to talk about my daughter's dental images. This was our first time at the office, we'd never met him before, and a preschooler would've known to walk in and at least say, "Hi, how are you? I'm Dr. Erakat" then lead into your spiel. So he came in and started talking at us, talking as if my daughter was an adult like I wasn't in the room, and he never checked to see if we had any knowledge about anesthesia or the procedure in general. After he finished talking at us, I looked at him and said, "Hello, nice to meet you," to give him a hint that he was shrewd and rude. Dr. Erakat spent maybe 5 minutes with us in total. He was very short, especially when I informed him that my daughter would be having a deviated septum surgery and asked him if there was a preference to have one of the surgeries before the other and the waiting period between surgeries. I've worked with and have seen an array of doctors, and unfortunately, Dr. Erakat was one of the rudest I've encountered. If the person going to perform surgery on my child can't give her the time and attention she deserves to make her feel comfortable, I don't want them anywhere near her. We will NOT return nor recommend this dental office. I don't know if Dr. Erakat is just really busy or if he didn't want to work with us. Either way, we will find a dentist that greets us, takes the time to explain the procedure, and someone who actually wants to work with us.
