The Great Outdoors - Transplants and stone patio

Graham drew the design on the spot and presented it to me as an option. I couldn't believe it. He then scheduled me in with his crew and they were on time, thorough and efficient. It transformed my backyard in a day. I cannot recommend Graham enough - he is exceptional!

This is the second time that we have used the company and both of our experiences were fantastic. For the first project, they installed several wooden retaining walls around the front of our property. The work was done quickly and affordably, and the quality was excellent. The walls are still in great shape several years later. Last summer (2016) we hired the Great Outdoors to install a new flagstone patio and stone retaining wall around the back and side of our home. We were somewhat hesitant to commit to the project because the work would be so extensive but Graham took the time to meet with us, answer our questions, and provide suggestions on what could be done to improve the existing space while still keeping the cost within our budget. In addition to the patio, they also made some alterations to our front walk to accommodate a nearby tree. The walk is now safer and the tree was undisturbed. As with the first project, they were very efficient, completing the project in just under a week, and did a wonderful job. As a result of this project, my wife and I now spend considerably more time enjoying our backyard. On a side note, all of the staff for the Great Outdoors are incredibly friendly and polite, making them enjoyable to work with. The company also has an ecological mentality to their work, trying to utilize local plants in their landscaping, which was appealing to my wife and me. We will definitely call the Great Outdoors for any future work we would like done.

The men showed up at an agreed time and worked diligently until the project was completed . The problems started when some of the plants and trees became diseased and started dying. After less than a year a $500 magnolia tree started losing all its leaves Cindy came to our home to look at the tree and said that see would get back to us but never did ! Bella Terra also planted five Skip Laurel for $800 and they started dropping leaves in less than a year and I asked Cindy to check on them and she stated that she didn't know what the problem was and that I should contact a tree company to determine what the problem was ! I was able to figure the problem out on my own after which I determined the problem was shot hole disease. I'm writing this review because we are not the only ones in the Spring Creek community that have used Bella Terra and have had the same problems with them standing behind their workmanship. I'm sure that if contacted Bella Terra would falsely claim that we did follow their after planting instructions which couldn't be further from the truth because I went above and beyond the instructions that were given to me. After over a year of using Acres Landscaping, I'm finding myself holding one of Crozet's best kept…read moresecrets, close to my grass. It's time to open a fresh cut review for them. First and foremost, you are here trying to find a landscaper who has incredible knowledge minus the cheese car sales-man Carl showing up at your house, trust me, I know, and it has been a feat. I've used multiple landscapers and I have found they always have a way to "upsell" me. I was exhausted over the pitches, disappointed in the lack of follow up, and questioning their pricing and tactics. Silly grasshoppers.. The grass is truly greener with Acres Landscaping,.. He is extremely detail-oriented, honest, and his follow up is impeccable. His prices are fair, he listens to your needs, and then actually delivers on them. Acres Landscaping is full service. You name it, he'll do it: mow and trim, blow your driveway and walkways (you can't forget about this detail), knock down the spider webs around your front door like a junior fireman with in the web of Spider-Man was chasing him (literally), remove and dispose of thorn bushes, and questionable vines. Mitch, who is patient, listens to the needs of what I see, and guides and gives me feedback on the things I have no idea about. For example; I was looking at the leaves still on my yard after winter ( asking for "spring clean up" ). Totally forgetting how we had prepped with mulch and trimming at the end of fall and feeling so reassured that a quick run over the yard will naturally compost the yard and look beautiful for us!! Next, I felt it was such a 'blade' of delight on how he never pressures me to change things and will guide over time to allow things to fit a budget. I have some bare grass spots, and he had listened to my concerns, gave me wonderful options in a range of price points and reassured me in landing the recommendations in an email for me. Finally, he has always anticipated the grassy needs, while placing the stacks of green aside. Last summer, due to it being so dry, he did not just "stick to the schedule". Instead, he communicated with me, let me know he didn't feel there was a need ( nothing was growing ), and kindly circled back in follow up in the weeks afterward. Could he have charged me? Yes. Could he have stuck to the schedule? Yes. Fact is, he didnt, not for one week, but for THREE. Mitch is the man with the plan. His timing, creativity and effort are beyond measure, each and every time! Never leaving anything less than perfection. He's meticulous in his detail of attending to all things landscaping. May your green blades of glory soar to new grassy fullness in their confidence of having Acres Landscaping by their side. Your grass will fly sky high and give your neighbors envy while they stand there in awe.
