She assured me it would grow back just fine because hair in the back "grows faster". I also asked for a red-based color and she told me that was wrong and that I should have brown, so that's what she gave me. My hair is now short and brown instead of red brown and mid length as I requested. So I look like Marie decided I should look. I scheduled a haircut after seeing the salon's Facebook advertisements, which promise that clients will "leave happy" and that their stylists can perform a wide variety of cuts. I also spoke with the receptionist, Brandi, who assured me that they had multiple stylists who specialize in the exact haircut I described in detail. Relying on those representations, I expected to be booked with someone experienced. The actual appointment did not reflect what was advertised or promised. The stylist appeared unsure of how to proceed from the beginning, even after I re-explained the style and showed clear reference photos. She suggested using a razor, which was not appropriate for the cut I requested. Throughout the appointment, she repeatedly paused to ask what I thought while the haircut was still unfinished, which did not inspire confidence. I had to ask her to check and correct basic issues such as ensuring both sides were the same length--something I would expect a trained stylist to check automatically. I also had to specifically ask her to frame the hair around my face, even though this should be a part of any haircut. She only attempted this after I pointed it out. At the end, she asked whether I had ever had a haircut "like this," which made it clear she realized that the cut had not been executed properly. The final result was a very poor haircut that left me extremely unhappy. More importantly, the service I received did not match the assurances given by the salon's advertising or by Brandi when scheduling the appointment. Businesses should not make promises they cannot deliver. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this salon. Update to My Previous Review I want to share an update after my earlier review. The owner, Jessica, personally reached out to me to discuss my experience, and I truly appreciate the care, professionalism, and willingness she showed in addressing my concerns. It meant a lot to be heard and taken seriously. Jessica arranged for my haircut to be corrected by Elena Gorbunova, and I am genuinely so happy with the result. Elena was absolutely wonderful -- she listened carefully, understood exactly what I wanted, and did an amazing job fixing and styling my hair. My hair now looks great, and I finally feel happy and confident again. I truly appreciate the effort made to turn a difficult experience into a positive one. It says a lot about a business when they stand behind their work and genuinely care about their clients. Because of how this was handled and Elena's excellent work, I will definitely be returning to this salon and continuing my hair care with Elena. I knew that budget pricing likely meant a lower-quality haircut, but I'm not very particular when it comes to my hair, so I booked an appointment. The experience was as I'd expected (very similar to a Great Clips or another average barber), but when I went up to pay, they informed me that they'd increased their prices by over 30% but hadn't updated their website. They showed me a small pile of pamphlets on the opposite side of the check-in counter that listed the updated prices, but most customers don't look for pamphlets when they check in--they simply say that they're here and take a seat. Unfortunately, they acknowledged their mistake but weren't willing to honor their online advertised prices that had convinced me to give the place a try, so I ended up paying what the salons I was considering visiting charged but received a less-than-salon experience. I wish Chance & Taylor had more of an emphasis on transparent pricing for customers who book online or based on the website's claims. I have taken my probable bias into account while creating this review. I saw Niki (spelling = ?) for a women's haircut. I wanted to trim off several inches to armpit-ish length + soften the edges. I must mention I witnessed the 2 present hairdressers complaining *in front of clients* about the lack of stylists in the area to hire, and they joked - for a duration that has me convinced it *totally wasn't* a joke - that they'd hire anyone who claims to be a hairstylist just as long as they knew basic color theory. Yikes. So obvs that's big turnoff to a new client + worth mentioning, but the experience was just unsatisfactory overall. Here's the deal. I've talked to so many bubbly hairdressers who are passionate about their work. And I get that a salon is like a family. That's great! But if I'm your family's dinner guest, I expect the host to introduce themself/-selves, maybe offer water/beverage, check in about water temperature, ask about myself, keep conversations with family co-hosts positive and professional, speak of your family to guests with dignity, and, idk, help me feel welcomed throughout?
