The rooms are tastefully decorated, the bathroom is large and well equipped. The view from the "20up" bar in the 20th Floor by day and by night is a fantastic experience. We had a five-course dinner in the hotel, which had ups and downs, all in all it was ok. Another hint: Breakfast is too expensive (20,- EUR), at least if you don't eat much for breakfast. Directly beside the hotel there is a small café where you get an excellent breakfast for about 10, - EUR.

Walking from one end of the famous Reeperbahn Street (where the hotel is) to the opposite and is an easy walk with lots to do, eat and look at. The room itself was small...we had a room with 2 twin beds that we were able to separate so my son and I could have a little space. Besides the size and the tiny bathroom, everything was very clean. The room had all the amenities we needed (hair dryer, soap, shampoo.) The water in the shower was hot. The staff were very friendly and took care of any requests we had. (I think we just asked for extra pillows.) The breakfast was more than adequate, with a super-automatic espresso machine that made any drink we wanted and tasted really good. (Okay carafes of drip coffee were available too.) There was enough to eat for us vegetarians in terms of cheese, bread, eggs and vegetables as well. Besides the size of the room we were happy with everything about the hotel.

Wi-Fi seems to be not complementary, I wasn't able to log onto the network. I wasn't informed at reception about that, luckily I didn't need it. For some reason I had no electricity in the morning, not sure if that had something to do with one of the elevators that was serviced. The hotel is located at the end of the Reeperbahn, port (landing bridges) in walking distance. Recommended for a short stay only.

But…read moreapart from the social idea, it is a normal 3 star hotel that provides all comfort you can expect in that category, with very nice and new furniture, modern TV screen and wireless internet. The breakfast buffet is also good for a hotel of such a small size. I arrived late in the evening (around 10pm), which means that you need to check in with the night clerk, who is not normal hotel staff but was also very friendly. In addition, I found a personalised welcome letter on my bed. The only minus was that the (non-handicapped) staff could not provide us with good information on how to get to a specific location by public transport. In the end we were faster to check it online by ourselves. But apart from that, I was very happy with my stay there and would stay there again whenever I come back to Hamburg because I really support the idea, but also because it is just a very good and comfortable hotel. The price was ok, too (73 Euro per night).

You just have to take some stairs from the Landungsbrücken subway station. Their pricing is fair. You don't need any cash, except for the lockers and the bar. Dinner is extra, but if you book it in advance, it's way cheaper. And it's quite good for the price. It's also a very clean hostel.
