The man in store ASSUMED I was just parking there but didn't plan to shop, even though two others had pulled in and never entered his store and it was only me he chased down the street yelling HEY NO PARKING! I explained I had planned to come back around, but I had to stop at the post office first, I also explained I had been in his store numerous times. He was extremely rude so I went and moved my car because there was actually a parking spot closer to the post office! So I guess no need for me to walk back and spend my thousand dollars in his store. I will never walk foot in there again. And just for further reference his stuff is way overpriced and not worth at all what he's asking. The two other times I was in, I was dressed extremely nice, today just jeans & a pretty simple shirt. The crappy car he sssumed was mine, that had parked next to me and didn't stop in his store. He let that man just walk on by because it's easier to harass a 53 old woman. I guess he thought that was crap car was mine and he just didn't think I had enough money to shop in his store. Well, I have a lot more money than you think and I also have a big mouth so I will continue telling everybody where NOT to shop! Don't assume anything! RUDE! If you're going to make it a point to chase down people don't pick and choose who you think is going to make it easier target or who you think wouldn't have the money to shop in your store- my thousand dollars will be spent somewhere else now. You should have waited for ALL FOUR people who parked there same time I did to all come back to their cars, THEN YOU'D know who didn't shop there. Pretty discriminatory! it's Christmas, pretty safe to ASSUME RATHER that people may have more than one stop! I can guarantee the next time this person tries to get in my face and chase me down the street. They're going to get knocked the F out!

I was in the area on a Saturday afternoon so I took advantage to visit an area I am in love with. This was the first time I noticed the Day by Day Shoppe and the inviting outside made me want to peek in. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner Will who it turns out is quite an artist. The store specializes in a mixture of new and used items. It has a vintage vibe that I adore. Will wants to upcycle and encourage people to find a creative new life for items they might otherwise throw away. From used items he creates amazing one of a kind pieces. I ended up purchasing a flower feeder for my garden made from a plate and a vase. I am going to lay bird food on it or fruit for the butterflies. I also bought a darling butterfly girl to hang in the tree above my butterfly garden. My new finds inspired me to go out and finally weed the area. In addition to wonderful accents for your garden, the shop has all kinds of home decor and accessories at very reasonable prices. Items range from just a few dollars to several hundred. I love Will's eye for design. Pot holders and dish towels for your kitchen, jewelry, glassware, china, bags, and tiny hanging gardens for your windows were just some of the items I coveted. I will definitely be back to do some holiday shopping this year. I also have my eye on a certain light fixture that Will created. Another reason to visit the store in addition to the one of a kind items is that Northwood is having a special event to help the Bahamas. The merchants in the area are collecting supplies and donating money to provide relief to the Bahamas. 10 percent of my purchase went to help support the Bahamas. So buy cool things and do good at the same time by shopping Northwood this weekend.

It turns out Material World has been here long before the Nora District sprang up. Material World is owned by Rachelle Tenace. Although the showroom is small, there is a carefully curated selection of colorful dresses, jewelry, pillows, sandals, hats, scarves, and other unique items from world wide artisans. Rachelle also sells some of her own handmade jewelry. In the back is Rachelle's custom fabric businesses and she purchases her material also mainly from overseas. She sells the fabric to wholesalers who in turn sell to interior designers. Everything in this cute shop is so colorful, bright, and cheerful. Purchases made through Material World help to support struggling artists around the world. I love how you can purchase something for yourself or as a gift and help someone else at the same time.

On Northwood Road there is a hub of fantastic places to eat and artistic places to shop. Free street parking is available and there is an overflow parking lot at the end of the street. Owned by Tim and his wife Inge, their store is like walking into Etsy. Actually they do have an Etsy shop. Their wares are composed of vintage home goods, furniture, accessories, jewelry, and hand made upcycled treasures like little glass planters you can hang and license plate art. They like to reuse what they can and turn it into something interesting rather than add to the landfill. During my visit Stone Button was participating in a Bahama relief drive as were the other shops in Northwood. They created really cute license plate art from cut up plates that read Bahamas. Outside is their salvage yard with over sized letters. This is the perfect shop to find that one of a kind gift. I left with a small china box that matches my grandmother's china. At only $10 I was pleased to find it. If you adore the vintage vibe like I do you will want to pay a visit to this charming shop.
