This lady is very unprofessional! Beware she will take your money. My husband had reached out to her to get his dreads done. They communicate over text message and set up a date and time for him to come in. She asked for a deposit that will go towards his service to confirm his appointment. He sent the money and not once did she say in the text that the deposit was not refundable. My husband goes to his appointment and she started to do his hair and then says you will need to come back in a few months to let your hair grow more? This has never happened to any place my husband has gotten his hair done at. She asked if he wanted his deposit back or to make a new appointment. So my husband made another appointment to come back in two months. Two weeks prior to his appointment he had to cancel due to a family emergency . He asked for his deposit back and she said no. Mind you she was going to give it back last appointment. So then my husband asked if he can come in another day and just have her work on his hair. She said to come in on a a set day they agreed on so she can take a look at his hair again. The day comes and he asked what time he can come in, she never responded that day. She finally response and says for her to look at his hair again he needs to pay another $50? I'm sorry! Your communication skills are horrible and all you're doing is taking money from people who are trying to get work done. You say one thing and do another. Wouldn't recommend this place at all. She does decent braids but is very unprofessional and unkind. I went to get my hair braided and had my daughter with me. The gentleman at the counter was very friendly but ninja just seemed annoyed when I showed up from the get go. I won't say why but have an idea. We go to the back to braid and there's a huge pile of candy laying out that looked as if to offer to clients. My 8 year old asked for one politely and ninja rudely said NO. I was kinda shocked. You can't give 1 jolly rancher to a kid? Maybe you shouldn't lay them out all sprawled out on the counter. I continued to be polite. She braided. I paid. I wanted to add more so booked another session but then changed my mind. I asked for my Deposit back with plenty of notice. She just flat out said NO again. I have been booking with Ninja for just under a year, and I can't say enough good things about her services. As a local Black-owned business, it's wonderful to support her and have a place where my kids can get all their hair needs met, from braiding and extensions to locs and twists, as well as supplies. The shop's proximity is a huge bonus, and it's always clean and organized. We feel welcomed, and scheduling is easy, especially since she works Sundays! Ninja's work is truly exceptional; she works incredibly fast, and the finished product always looks just like the pictures we bring in for reference (I also send them in advance to know the price and time necessary to get what we want). Absolutely DISGUSTED and TRAUMATIZED - DO NOT GO TO STRICTLY BRAIDS! I'm writing this to WARN others: I had the worst, most dangerous experience at Strictly Braids with a so-called braider named Ninja Turtle. Without my knowledge or consent, she put super glue yes, super glue, a TOXIC chemical into my hair and scalp. Not a styling product, not gel actual glue. I only found out after wondering for days what that strong chemical smell was. It's been almost a MONTH since the appointment and my hair still reeks of glue. I've washed it multiple times and the stench is still there. My scalp has been irritated, my hair is brittle, and I've been terrified of permanent damage. Let me be clear: this is not just unprofessional it's DANGEROUS. What kind of licensed stylist uses industrial glue on human hair without informing the client? That's assault. I have already filed a formal complaint with the California State Board of Cosmetology and I hope they investigate this place thoroughly. Nobody should have to go through what I went through. STAY AWAY from Ninja Turtle and STAY AWAY from Strictly Braids unless you want your hair and scalp abused with toxic chemicals. read more

For sure this place is not for box braids at all!!! Ninja was super nice just like her husband but the job in my hair was not well done at all!!! I liked/like a lot my braids but the bottom were not done very well! I had an appointment on Sunday and in the same day the braids were opening in the bottom so I had to use rubber bands! I texted her and she told me to put the bottom in hot water but I already have done it 2x and just got worse!!! I had to come back next day for her to fix it and after 2 weeks I had to curly the bottom by myself because they were opening again!
