I called every piano shop and tuner from Colorado Springs to Fort Collins and in between. I also reached out to shops in Michigan and Atlanta. Each call made me feel I was never going to find what I wanted. .. "Hard to come buy, hard to find in good condition, will be an arm and a leg to move and tune." Finally I stumbled on an ad on Craigslist for two piano's (neither my first choice, but close). They were both Goheen Piano's. When I called, I was told that there were a couple of appointments scheduled that afternoon and they would let me know if either were available after the appointments. Both were sold that day. But Fred was awesome. He talked to me about what I was looking for and said he would put my name down and if he came up with anything in the next several weeks he would call. That was a Thursday...he called me on Saturday and had my dream piano. You can say it was luck...but I could tell it was the relationships he had built with his customer base. We went the next day to look at it and bought it on the spot. Fred and his son delivered it that day (as Sunday mind you). We are both musicians and didn't want to trust our baby to just any piano tuner. I found Jim based on the Yelp reviews here, and was so happy when he was able to find time to fit us in. Jim is knowledgeable, efficient, intelligent and just a really nice person to be around. We are delighted that he is taking care of our Yamie. The first thing we did was discuss a humidification system, as it is quite a bit dryer out here than back in Chicago. Jim helped us do an analysis of our rental home and its specific humidity circumstances. He did think it would be a good idea, but he didn't try to hard sell us on anything. We decided to install one to protect the sound board, and Jim has been servicing it and tuning the piano for a year. He left a puddle of dirty water from cleaning on my carpet when the hose broke. No apologies when I called but just said "oh yeah, the hose came loose." He likely thought I wouldn't have bothered to call to complain because I had to ASK him to fix it, he didn't offer. I had to have it cleaned again by someone else since when he came back it still was not clean. Avoid, and call someone else.
