I took Michael's VoiceOver class and it was absolutely invaluable! I learned so much from him, his handouts/workbook and of course, number one, being in the booth with his directions. The combination of those three components helped build my confidence threefold. My voice from the first week to fourth week is already at another level. This is a great introduction/beginning VoiceOver class. You will end up thanking him for his guidance; he does not gatekeeping anything. The class is purposely kept small, my class was 7 students. Each of us got ample time in the both with one-on-one directions directly from Michael. The office and studio space are just the right size, perfect for what is needed. read more

I had to leave a review because this was the best class I've ever had! Michael is such a great teacher and provides all of his students with information and guidance. He's very knowledgeable, patient, and kind. This class is a great opportunity either for fun or for a start of a great career. Because of this class, I was able to make new friends in this field and to develop a start in a career in Voice Acting. I've never done voice acting or voice overs before, so this was my first experience ever. Michael teaches every beginner technique that really helped improved my voice. read more

A Plus Voice Overs - Recording & Rehearsal Studios Near Me - Sherman Oaks, California

I really enjoyed the 4-week classes with Michael. I consider it a great foundation/intro to voiceover work. Creatively it covers commercial, narration and character work. From the business side, it goes over marketing, equipment, getting started with submitting yourself for work, to find an agent, demos - and I'm maybe leaving something out! Michael encourages, and leaves time for questions. (He stayed late every class). I liked that the classes were small and in person/ not zoom. There was plenty of time to work in the recording booth in every class and Michael offered great notes and direction on performance. Definitely encourage you to check out his website if you're interested in getting started with VO. read more

If you have ever thought about going into VO, even just a LITTLE BIT, you need to start with this class. Michael is beyond world-class. I was recommended this class by a woman I ran into at work about 8 months ago who RAVED about Michael, the class structure, things that were taught, etc. I guess it was a friend of hers that took the class? I'm not sure - doesnt matter. Point is - if a random woman's friend loved it that much where now this random woman can radiate the positivity of a class she knows nothing about? I am taking the class. After taking the class, I have to say, it was more than worth it. Id take the class again if I could, but I think my boss would kill me. Anyways - Michael is EXTREMELY encouraging - there are no stupid questions. It doesnt matter if youve never been in a booth before, or never acted before - he is there to guide you every step of the way! Classes are intimate (my class was myself +2 others), so you really get the time to ask questions, be in the booth, and learn more about your voice. The amount that you learn in this class, especially as a BEGINNER, is unparalleled. There is no reason to not take this class if you have any interest in getting into VO. Bobi D. read more

Everyone who is even tangentially involved with the Entertainment industry knows that this past year and a half has required a tremendous amount of pivoting and extra support as so much has changed. But it's also lead to some amazing blessings along the way - particularly in some of the people that we might not of met had Covid never hit. And some incredible places to discover that likewise might never have crossed our path. Recording studios have become indispensable to everyone in voiceover - but finding one that does everything necessary, while also being warm and welcoming and accessible, is almost impossible these days. Likewise finding one that's run by a master engineer who not only understands all the intricacies of excellent sound - but is a also pro Director who can ensure that your auditions and sessions are top shelf. Michael Rafferty has a gem of a studio right in the heart of Sherman Oaks... Easily accessible to anyone on both sides of the hill- ready to help you book your next gig or secure your next session. While of course all studios are fairly booked these days, Michael goes out of his way to extend hours and work with the talent and clients alike - - to ensure that all deadlines are met. On a sidenote - Michael is known throughout the industry for his production value of demos for those rather than to break into voiceover - just worth mentioning if that something you could considering along with either coaching or voiceover workshops. Be sure that you give Michael at A + PLUS a call. read more

Michael's class was an amazing experience got a chance to dive right into how voice over creatives work and had a blast. Highly recommend this course to find out about how this part of the entertainment business works and to learn about yourself as a voice talent. In short, Michael's great! Very positive, enthusiastic attitude coupled with a great working knowledge of the business. Can't recommend him enough, actually. I recorded a commercial demo with him, and people keep talking about how good it sounds. Encouraging, helpful direction, and expert producing. He is also a solid resource for all things "voice over." He is clearly in the business of establishing long term relationships with folks; relationships that extend beyond recording a demo, or taking a class. He'll be around if/when you need him for things like auditions, or other projects. read more

I just completed my voice over reel with Michael; this was something that I had been wanting to do for the last 2 years. When I was shopping around for locations to get it done Michael was the first and only person to respond back to my inquiry. He made the process so easy and so much fun. He is professional and he really knows what he's doing. I just got the completed piece back and I love it! In a million years I never thought I could sound so good but Michael did that for me. I would recommend him to anyone looking to complete a reel or even if you needed a space to complete an audition, he is full of helpful tips that can help with that as well. I plan to use him again in the future for any of my auditions and recording projects. read more

Such an amazing experience! I took a class with Michael and did a demo reel. Michael's class was such a wonderfully supportive environment where I learned and grew quickly as a voice actor. I then did a commercial demo with Michael and a character demo. Michael took so much care finding me great scripts that would showcase my range. I got representation from these demos the day I sent them out! Can't say enough how much I appreciate A Plus Voice Overs and Michael. read more

Michael was very professional and my reel came out awesome. Thanks for your help, confidence and speediness of delivery.

I was looking for in-person classes in Los Angeles (during COVID-19 times for any future readers!) and came across Michael's class. I was a bit hesitant at first about signing up, but after finishing the September class I have zero doubts about that decision now. Michael and fellow classmates were incredibly supportive and getting actual practice inside studio booth was precious learning experience for a newly starting person like myself. Michael also gave many constructive tips and tricks, and it seemed to be that he genuinely cared about his students unlike some others that only seem to care about money. I would really love to take more classes from Michael, but sadly he currently only offers intro class. Perhaps in the near future, I will return to him with more experience for a demo :) read more

Was so please to find Michael to record and work my daughter on a last minute VO audition that came through on a Friday and happened to be due over a weekend day. I called around countless studios to record with her but they were all closed over the weekends and was starting to panic. Low and behold, I call up Michael and he's able to record her on a Sunday and get the audition sent off to her reps. His recording studio is set up really well, he was very professional and worked really well with her so I'm so fortunate that we found A Plus Voice Overs! read more

Mike is amazing! The time he spent with me preparing and making sure we had written the perfect sides for my reel made the process so enjoyable and the product that much better and personalized! I felt extremely comfortable this was going to be great before I even stepped into the booth to record because of how much time he spent helping me beforehand, and once we were actually recording, i never felt rushed as we recorded until we were both happy with the session. Strongly recommend! Will be definitely going back for future Voice Overs. read more

Michael Rafferty produced my narration and character/animation demo reels and I couldn't be happier. Firstly, Michael helped me choose the best copy for my reels. He was prepared and very knowledgeable about what sounds good and what fits my voice best. Recording the material with him was a lot of fun. He made me feel confident in my choices and made sure he got the best takes for the reels. Finally, the reels came out so well! I was blown away by the sound quality and final production. Michael produced my first voice over reel and it was phenomenal. He done both a commercial reel and animation reel. I submitted to my top 3 VO agent choices and 2 invited me for interviews. I signed with my favorite. Michael is a professional but also patient and kind. He coached me all the way through the process. His prices are about the best I found and the value far outweighs the price. read more

Had a great experience recording my animation character demo reel. Michael was great! Very supportive and accommodating to what I was looking get out of it. He works with you to get the best performance and production value to make your reel stand out. Quick turnaround. With about a million VO studios in LA to choose from, I recommend A+. Besides, a big concern with a demo is the cost, and his prices are just right, without sacrificing the topnotch professionalism and results. Go with Michael and A+! read more

Michael Raffety is a consummate professional. He produced my voice over demo reels, and so I had an opportunity to collaborate with him in choosing the material, refining my voices, and producing the audio clips in his studio. He was very insightful and helpful throughout the process, and he had a wealth of knowledge to share with me about the ins and outs of the voice over business. Like any aspect of the entertainment business, voice over is competitive. It takes a lot of dogged work to be successful, and Michael can be a real help for someone like myself who is trying to break into this field. I have been a stage and film actor for over twenty years, so I understand very well what it takes to be the kind of performer who can win the support of an audience. Michael does too, which is why I would recommend him to the novice as much as to the seasoned actor. read more
