I sent multiple emails asking for a quote... never got anything back. Eventually my fiancé called and had about an 45 min convo with them and they stated they would email us the quote. About a year ago, I had a pretty cruddy customer service experience with another party rental company in the Greater Portland area, so I made a vow to try A Plus Party Rentals for my next big shindig. Pros: + I needed round, high-top, cocktail tables. At the other party rental place: $40. At A Plus Party Rental? $8. I KID YOU NOT. I don't understand this at all, but it's magical and I'll take it. Segue... + Generally speaking, their prices are always a bit cheaper than the other big party rental place in South Portland. Did I ever tell you the one about the $40 high-top cocktails? No? See above. + They had all the items I needed when I showed up. At the other party rental place, they hemmed and hawed with me about what I needed and when I needed it by. + Even though they weren't supposed to (and I hope this doesn't get them in trouble), the two young men in the "warehouse" area loaded all of our equipment in and out of our U-Haul. To sit back and watch them load made me feel like a princess... I did ask multiple times if I could help, and they very politely told me I didn't have to. They were respectful, they were responsible, and they were thoughtful - asked questions about what we were doing before the event, remembered who we were and asked about our event when we went to return everything, and even helped us clean the U-Haul after (knowing U-Haul fines for any piece of litter left in the bed or cab). + Every person I encountered - from the young men, to the woman in the office, to the man with the delivery truck (who I think was the owner) - was a rockstar at customer service. Accommodating, efficient, timely... I so appreciated being treated like a customer here, while at the other party rental place I was made to feel like a joke. Thank you, A Plus Party Rentals, for treating me like a human regardless of the size of my order! Cons: - For the life of her, the woman I was speaking to when I called could not understand me despite spelling everything out multiple times very slowly; as such my name and address were completely wrong when I got my receipt which I had to call a second and third time to have sent to me when they didn't send it the first and second time I called asking for it. - They are located REALLY off the beaten path. If you're throwing a party in Portland proper, it's quite the extra effort to get the stuff from A Plus Party Rentals and bring it back into town. All in all, these folks are worth your time if you like being treated with respect and saving money. Two things I know I appreciate always! read more

We got all the rentals from A Plus Party Rentals. We rented a 30x60ft tent that was amazing and set up and taken down so efficiently. They left us the side panels to add on if we needed it. We got lots of compliments on it. We also rented tables, chairs, linens, garbage cans, and a coffee maker. Nothing special there but did the job. I also decided last minute to rent a sound system. The added it on no problem. Everything was delivered days before our event, which was perfect and we were flexible about our delivery day. The truck arrived on Sunday to pick everything up and we weren't quite ready or expecting them and they were understanding and helped us get things together. Overall, a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend them. read more

RUN!!! A Plus Party Rentals is an absolute joke.  I can't believe they're still in business.  God help the future bride they screw over when they call to tell them there's "nothing they can do" one week before an event.   I started an order 10 days ago for tables and chairs and a canopy needed for a family reunion and was jerked around the entire time.  Eventually had 2 quotes in the system b/c my name and email were spelled wrong by the first representative (pathetically my name was still spelled wrong on the quote I eventually signed and emailed back).  Learned today that they just can't fill the order....not even for pickup! Never ONCE was I told there was a chance the items wouldn't be available.  I gave them the benefit of the doubt b/c I kept hearing how under staffed they were.  I assumed that was why emails and returned calls were taking longer than usual.  Event is now 1 week away and we have to scramble to find a back up plan. These guys provided a lot of extra items for our wedding and rehearsal. They were reasonably priced (a little cheaper than One Stop Party Shoppe), knowledgeable, and reliable. Delivery was on time, and, since I didn't hear otherwise, I am guessing that pick-up after the event went smoothly as well. Very easy to work with, too. I'm definitely going to recommend A-Plus to others getting married in Maine. read more

We rented a waterslide and my birthday was almost ruined. So when my parents went to get it the blower worked fine when my dad went to inflate it at home it did not work. Thank god the hardware store was open so my dad could fix it. Otherwise is was great. read more

This place has better pricing than most in the area. Star our coordinator was very responsive. However they don't have good planning software. Speery Tents has a great one you can use for free. When the day finally came the the OVEN FAILED for the better part of 2 hours. Our food came out cold to tepid. To sum it up they have good people and their equipment needs to be tested on site. read more

We reserved tables and chairs for my son's wedding via email and approved an invoice for what we needed. When we went to pick them up we were told they didn't have what we reserved because a deposit was never made. A deposit was NOT requested or mentioned in any of emails nor could I find any evidence of a deposit requirement on the website. I checked thoroughly to make sure the mistake was not on my end. We needed something since the wedding was the next day and they gave us what they had. The tables were not the same size and in bad to terrible condition. The chairs were in good shape but had clearly not been cleaned. I had to locate and buy new linens for the wedding the day before and spend time washing the chairs. It was very stressful and expensive, to say the least. When we returned the tables and chairs I was told a refund should not be a problem and that the manager would be contacting me. I never heard from anyone. I contacted them again to find out when my refund could be expected and when I would hear from the manager. I received a one sentence reply from the same employee saying I would be refunded 50%. I would not recommend using this company. Highly disappointed with their product and their service. read more

Outstanding experience, Staff were very professional and courteous, working with Starr was a pleasure. This building looks a bit rough on the surface but it does not reflect the quality of their services or products, prices were quite reasonable as well! Rented two 20 x 30 tents for rehearsal dinners and an outside Wedding. We also rented 6 tables and 40 chairs for each event. It was very easy to work with these people and they got it right. In addition, I shopped around quite a bit first, and I found them to be less expensive than their competitors in the area. read more
