We recently had our ducts cleaned by A Plus Duct Cleaning and had a fantastic experience. Denis, the technician who came out, was incredibly professional and considerate throughout the entire visit. We let him know we had a newborn in the house, and he was very mindful of that, keeping noise and disruptions to a minimum whenever possible. The condo/townhouse community I live in has a stipulation that residents need to get their chimneys/dryer air vents cleaned every 2 years. This is an intrusive annoyance to me personally, but I understand the necessity of it, especially considering that a townhouse dramatically burned down a few streets down from me a few years ago (thankfully, no one was hurt, and I'm not sure the fire was caused by clogged dryer vents, but...as I've said...I understand the necessity of the every-2-year cleaning). In the recent past, several neighbors in my building got together and secured the services of A+ Air Duct Inc. and I was part of that group. I was happy with the job they did, and the pricing seemed fair. Two years later, I received an email from my condo/townhouse association alerting me to the fact that it was duct cleaning time again. I mentioned it to the neighbor I'm most friendly with, and she said she had gotten a new washer/dryer and didn't need to go through with the cleaning. Nobody else contacted me, and I had to assume that the "group effort" of 2 years previously wasn't going to happen again. At the same time, propitiously, I received an email from A+ Air Duct Inc., and I called them to set up an appointment. There was a bit of an annoying kerfuffle the day before my appointment. I came home from work exhausted only to find a message on my phone indicating they had tried to call me to confirm the appointment, and I hadn't responded. There was no reason for this confusion, as I had left them a perfectly valid phone number. I could feel an incipient migraine looming as I attempted to call them back-- office was closed for the day. Great. The "deadline" for the vent cleaning was not far away, and, as the association had emphatically pointed out to me, if I didn't have the proper paperwork submitted to the association office by the official deadline, I was subject to fines. So, I was more than a little agitated. In the morning, I called the office, got through, and was able to verify the appointment. The air vent guy arrived on time. According to an email I received subsequently, his name was WIktor (a variation of Victor? A misspelling? I don't know). He was a young guy, friendly enough. My standard line when anyone enters my domicile is, "I apologize in advance; my place is 1 step away from being an episode of Hoarders." (Yuck! Yuck!) He didn't disagree with me; he just said, "I've seen worse." (I'm gonna blame it on genetics; in a recent conversation with my birth mother, she said my paternal grandmother, whom I unfortunately was never able to meet, was "a bit of a hoarder." My birth mother also said, "Your father's family lived like Gypsies; they moved around a lot." I'm not a Gypsy, but if I'm not careful, I may have A&E calling me on the phone...there's a reason why when my ex-girlfriend was actually my girlfriend, we would "socialize" at her place and not mine...Anyway...) He was efficient, and the inherently intrusive process (he had to climb up into my attic to continue the cleaning, which means I had to clear piles of clothes, albums, books, boxes, stuff I've forgotten I still have, and other miscellaneous crap out of the way to allow him access) was relatively painless. I have a fairly new washing machine, but my dryer is decades old, and he told me to keep it as long as possible, as they made better quality dryers way back when. He even offered me some free advice regarding my oven/stovetop (when you hear that "ticking" noise while boiling water, it means you're wearing out the ignitor; turn the flame up high). He arrived on time, the entire procedure was relatively easy (all things being equal), the price was reasonable, and I was able to submit my official paperwork to the association just in time to beat the deadline, and the fines. I'm not actually sure where their office is located. The phone number of their office in Perth Amboy (which is the only listing in NJ I can find) doesn't match the one I have on the paperwork, and their main office may actually be in Virginia (although they obviously have subsidiary offices elsewhere, if that in fact is the case). They supposedly service NJ/PA/DE. The only reviews I could find on Yelp were for the office in VA and they were pretty bad. But I have to say my experience with them has been positive, minus the initial miscommunication about my appointment. Recommended. read more

I have been using this company for 6 years. Everyone they come they find nonsense things that "need to be done" replaced a vent and cleaned out my pipes was there for half hour and charged me $385. He also was making up his prices one minute it's 350 then 385. I couldn't understand him either because of language barriers. I will never use this company again, but I was forced to get it done because of a deadline. Next time I will be calling a different company. read more

Hired this company to clean my dryer vent at my condo. I knew before they came that there would be a bunch of nonsense and bs and the 105.00 cost would skyrocket!! First, they tell me that the exterior cover is on wrong... Well, they came the year before and supposedly cleaned out my dryer vent, and THEY had to remove the cover and re install it...so if its on wrong , THEY did it!! Second, they tell me there is a birds nest in the vent.. Wow... the birds must be invisible because IF they cleaned it a year before, how is a bird going to get into the vent when the largest opening is 1/8 of an inch??? Then, the vent behind the dryer is bent which they say is causing a fire hazard...and has to be replaced.. well, its the same vent from last year.. Why didn't that come up then???!!! GMAFBreak!!!
