We hosted 50 guests in our house for hors d'oeuvres, followed by a buffet meal with selections for vegetarians and meat eaters. Great support in planning the menu, and the food was delicious. We also had a full bar with soft drinks, champagne, wine, beer and cocktails. A Plus Catering provided bartenders to staff the bar. The team showed up on time, set up quickly and was ready with service when the first guests arrived. They put out the buffet after folks had enjoyed the appetizers and served the food. They did a great job of picking up plates and glasses over the course of the evening, and left our kitchen and home tidy and organized when they left that evening. When I started out in a new position that involved a lot of event planning, I was immediately tasked with organizing a corporate breakfast for a big conference of around 100 people. Originally hired Jennine to cater a wedding Where she would be cooking onsite at the wedding venue. We ended up changing the venue 3 months in advance of the event and had her cater a different event at a location that didn't have an onsite kitchen. Unfortunately it seemed like since the food no longer would be cooked onsite, Jennine took this opportunity to be a bit deceptive and showed up to our event with food that looked and tasted like it came from the deli @ Costco. The presentation of the food was not good and it tasted even worst. I personally only liked 1 item on the menu and it seemed like it was 1 of the 2 items that she actually cooked. Seemed like the Mac-n-Cheese and fish was cooked but it was very disturbing that she would charge us for a full menu of catered food that was to be cooked at her business to find out most of the food came from the Costco deli. The Bride was VERY disappointed. We will NOT be able to recommend this caterer and have NO interest in hiring them again. She did cater dessert for the wedding that tasted and looked good, couldn't say the same for the dinner. Some pics included. in response to you reply: All of the food you delivered to the event was packed up because it was paid for and we wanted to see if any of the guests that attended to event wanted to take it to go. We was not going to allow you to take it back and pass it on the other non-suspecting clients. The only food that I personally liked was the fish so I made a togo container of that. I didn't go any farther into detail because I didn't want to state it above but since you mentioned it, All the rest of the food that was packed up tasted so bad, NO ONE wanted to take it so it set in the fridge at that hotel and was later thrown away the next day after everyone made it clear they didn't want it. Again the food's quality was that of the Store deli and did not taste good. Interesting I saw another review on here that said seemed like their food came from the Safeway deli. The team, led by the personable and efficient Jennine, arrived ahead of time and prepared the appetizers. Hired A Plus Catering again for my housewarming in SOMA and everything went more than smoothly as usual. My Advice to Customers considering A Plus Catering: 1. Communicate your requests --clearly-- and ask questions if you're uncertain. My professional and educational background are in food & beverage entrepreneurship, and I have extremely high expectations when it comes to event planning & catering. Vague requests and expectations like 'interesting food' (see review below) are asking for disaster because no one knows what 'interesting' means to you. 2. You get what you pay for - ask & trust A Plus Catering on the # of staff needed. If you skimp and underquote your guest count in hopes to get a lower price, or try to squeeze a food & drinks event for many people with a low budget, you will end up paying through a poorly executed event due to i) event staff stretched too thin, ii) guests waiting in line, as well as iii) no time leftover for cleanup (staff are paid by the hour). Catering companies start working on your event from the initial planning, to preparing food & drink before your event even starts, coordinating staffing, and executing the event --- on top of paying their staff for all the pre-planning, covering all food & material costs, & paying the staff to work the actual event, the company still needs to make a profit. So, if you try to skimp on the total cost, do not expect to get fancy food & an unlimited team of Cinderellas staying overtime to clean your party's mess, when you didn't allocate this in the budget. Catering is a luxury service - if you're not ready to pay for it, then DIY. ------ Overall, hiring A Plus Catering allowed me to enjoy time with my guests. Our server, Dalaysha, left my house and kitchen super clean (as usual), meaning there was very little post-event cleanup needed on my part. She collected empty cups and plates throughout the evening on top of serving hoes d'oevres. Jennine (business operator) was great in coordinating in advance.
