If you want fresh fruit or meats, there are many shops located within a few steps/blocks. Was very quiet. Will stay again as you can't beat the price and location.

Made us eggs and two hot chocolates plus served us pastries. Normally we skip hotel breakfast to eat in town but we could not pass them up. They were so warm and welcoming. Fantastic spot and everyone should stay here.

It is on a relatively quiet street but within a short walking distance of the main piazzas where there are many shops and restaurants. Since Lucca is one of the few walled cities left in Italy, most of the activities you will want as a tourist are within the walls. It is a bit of a hike from outside the walls to the main attractions so location is important. Our room was large for a European hotel and was attractively decorated. The bathroom was modern with a shower and plentiful hot water. The air conditioning worked well. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There isn't a restaurant but the breakfast was very good. If I were to return to Lucca I would definitely return to the Palazzo Alexander.

Bathrooms are very small and there is not room to even bend over in the shower it is so tight. No ledge to put shampoo etc so it's quite inconvenient. We arrived at the hotel on a group reservation and had added an extension on for a couple of days anticipating we would want to stay and relax at the end of our trip. Checked in on a weds, and when we saw the room, it was clear this was not going to be a "relaxing" place to end our trip and tried to cancel our reservation for Sat and Sunday night. We were told there was a three day cancelation policy and they would not honor our request, we would have had to requested the cancelation the day before. This seemed quite unreasonable to me since we were already staying their Weds - Friday. Good customer service would have canceled the Sat and Sun nights for us since we were not satisfied with the rooms or hotel overall. Feels very much like a business hotel, very disappointing way to end our trip.

They provide free bicycles which made our trip really fun and made getting around the city so easy. We booked a family room which was two joined rooms with a private shared hall and bath. This meant our children (ages 15 and 11) could be in their room watching MTV while we had a bit of quiet. Free parking, wifi and breakfast. We will recommend this hotel to everyone. All around lovely stay and a great value.

Location is wonderful, only 2 mins walk to the Guinigi Tower and less to the main shopping street. Despite its central location the hotel was quiet and relaxing. Now on to the best bit, if you like eggs you will love this place. How do you like them? Just say and they will do them for you, alongside breakfast buffet of cereal, breads, meats, fresh fruit and the best coffee in Lucca. We are going back asap and hope to many times over. Most spoke acceptable English for hotel workers. Very pleasant to deal with. Our room had a good sized bedroom and a setting room with a couch. All the walls and most of the ceiling had murals on them. Bathroom had a separate shower and a whirlpool bathtub. Everything looked new and very clean. The breakfast spread was the largest I have seen in years. There were oranges to make fresh juice. A juicer to juice fresh vegetables. Cook your own soft or hard boiled eggs. Fruit, cheese, sweets, yogurt, coffee ect. I am sure I have missed some breakfast items. The only thing missing was fish that you find in Northern European breakfasts. In the afternoon you could get coffee or tea by asking. The one time I did this they did not charge me and I do not know if they charged the travel company. The only slightly negative item was our room overlooked a kitchen that made noise late into the night. With the window closed it was fine.
