Cut and pasted my G review because they were awesome. A Notch Above did a FANTASTIC job! We needed a tree removed and the other trees trimmed. We had three estimates, with Blaine (I think he's an owner) coming out to do the estimate. He's kind of rough around the edges but brutally honest and down to earth, and did not try to upsell me anything like the others did, and I liked that. Besides, his estimate was about half what the others would have charged for the same work. The crew arrived on time, were friendly and professional and did an OUTSTANDING job. I watched Butch grind the stump at least a foot down from the grass line. My trees have never looked better, and we have had them trimmed several times by others who charged more. I intended to run the tiding mower with bagger after they removed the massive sticky-ball tree from the yard, but they did such a thorough cleanup afterward that I didn't need to. They even cleaned up debris that wasn't from the tree work. The yards, back and front, looked much better than when they arrived. Lastly, Ricky was the tree climber and was a wild man. He did a fantastic job navigating and trimming my trees even to the upper branches, at least 75 feet up. He does how-to videos on YT as GeneJerz or #Genejerz, check out my house and the job the crew did. Top Notch is now my go-to tree service. I don't need to look anywhere else. read more

We had a 24 inch at the base Red Oak tree that the City of Summerville felt would be good only 5 feet from the foundation of our house die. Yeah, that was a great decision. After 4 quotes, we found the price to be reasonable, so we made contact. The Team worked around our vacation schedule to make this happen quickly, and the work was done with precision! 10 feet of the dead tree was over our neighbors roof. 15 feet of the live part of the tree was over our roof. Yeah, I was very nervous about roof damage. They set up a pulley system and cut and lowered each piece like it was a priceless piece of art. There was no dropping 20 foot sections from 50+ feet in the air. Besides the 2 houses, also under the tree was azaleas, both still living and unharmed, blackberry bushes - also unharmed, and out sewer pipe feed-in. Also undamaged. They cleaned the yard before they left, and when they were cutting the tree, they asked if I wanted firewood. I asked for half the tree, and they cut half the tree to 18 inch size pieces I could split. The remaining half they took away. I would very highly recommend them. In addition to being a local group, they were highly professional, they were 15 minutes early, they respected my property and needs, and they cut firewood for my firepit. read more

got an estimate for work VERBALLY- they said would get one in writing then they would set up an appointment for next week. NEVER got estimate, never got a call to SCHEDULE- I said to Brian that I wanted to be home when it was happening and I had a busy schedule next week; Was out yesterday, when I came home I found the tree DOWN, after making a MESS of my front lawn with their truck; I said I NEVER heard from them- never said YES to this!! VERY unprofessional ; said the TEXTED the estimate and appointment ( which THEY say I " received") BUT I NEVER SAID YES !! NEVER responded to ANY TEXT!!! Have to agree with the prior reviewer - we also had issues with Brian's team. Our job request was for professional trimming of palm trees and shaping the rest of shrubs and bushes and cleaning up the trimmings afterwards. First of all, he had a 'guy in training' doing the palm tree trimming; some palms look more like 'hacking' instead of trimming. We actually saw the lead guy come over and demonstrate the proper method to trim palms, but this was after the 'newbie' had already messed up 4 or 5 trees. They took a lunch break and were gone for 2 1/2 hours after which the newbie came back but Brian di not for another 1/2 hour or so, which kept them here trimming for 3 more hours and starting to get dark. Upon checking the next morning, quite a few palm fronds were not trimmed plus they didn't do a good job cleaning up all the leftover debris. Made a call to Brian; said he'd be out the next day. He didn't show but called to reschedule... 2 times. When he finally came back to trim he trimmed what we knew to be left over from the previous job. Brian cleaned up the trimming and left. Husband just spent most of the day cleaning up newly found trimmings they had left; filling up two large black contractor bags. Thus the one star rating above fits - they are not very reliable nor very good at what they do. While Brian is competent, the labor hired and supervision leaves much to be desired. Issue was job was to be completed June 19 th. Which was completed on July 3 rd. You were well aware of my dissatisfaction , not once did I say I was pleased, satisfied or delighted with your service! So what is it that you claim to not understand? I could not of been any clearer! Joe C read more
