We decided to give a local business, in our neighbourhood, a chance to help us create a website. We had thought about this for a long time, and with the prodding of others, finally decided to take the plunge and go for it! We paid them in advance $1200 for a 3 page website. We were so excited! But then we soon realized that we had to do all the work in creating the site, the ideas, the colours, submitting the pictures, giving them the info, all done by e-mail, and then they got it All Wrong! We had to tell them that things were not right! Then they sent me an e-mail stating that we had sent them way too many images to download onto our site, that this would all cost extra $$! So initially we went with a very basic website with 25 images, altogether. Later we added more images and of coarse paid them again. I even took the learn-to-navigate-your-site course through them, another $250 or so. It didn't help by the way! Then the unthinkable, our whole site crashed! Or was hacked? & crashed?! They said it was our fault because we didn't have the proper site protection on it. So we paid them for a site protection package. In the end the site we had paid for, with all the extra images was reduced back to the first basic one. I cannot get into the backend of our site, not even to change our business hours when we want to take a vacation, something about Wordpress.org not accepting my credentials. I have written Nerd's World about this, they sent me an e-mail on how to do it, but it doesn't work! I chatted with them on-line the other day, and they said that they could help us with this, but it would cost us another $120/hour. This has been a Very Frustrating experience for us to say the least! If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't do it! They are NOT helpful, professional, creative, meticulous, and they lack integrity! They do not really care about their clients, they just want to make as much money as possible, by doing as little work as possible! I created our website, not Nerd's World, even though it says that they did, on the bottom of our site. If you want that comment removed it'll cost you another $250! In the end we probably spent a few thousand dollars at Nerd's World, for a lot of hassle and sleepless nights, and a very basic (and now outdated) website that cannot be manipulated by us. Websites, to me, are a bit like plumbing. I know what plumbing is generally but not what it entails, and I don't know why things cost what, or any of the background details about it. A Nerd's World helped parse out the details in what it means to create a custom website, from start to finish, as well as made me understand the real behind-the-scenes/backstage kinda work that goes into it. Basically, I helped my dad as a liaison with A Nerd's World for his website, our family business. The Nerds made my daddy's life so much easier. They created my father's website. He was so happy the day it got launched only 3 weeks after hiring A Nerd's World. It's become a big part of the family biz. During the whole process, we felt like we were taken very good care of. Everything was explained in depth and if we had questions, we could call, email or just drop in with no appointment and they would pick-up even late at night. The people working on the site seemed young, energetic, and really creative in their approach to the site design. As soon as A Nerds World opened shop it was an eye opener and very intriging. I love their photos. The reason I entered their store was to get Search Engine Optimization of my website. All staff were very friendly. I dealt with Chris who was amazing. He walked me through the whole procedure in a one to one workshop. He was patient and extremly helpful. I have alrealdy notice that my website ranking has already improved and it has not been a week since I purchased my SEO. He gave me great advice to help me promote my business. I've passed by a Nerds World several times in the past and it wasn't until December that I finally ventured in. It's a warm and inviting place with a nostalgic-museum feel to it. I was impressed by the collection of vintage cameras that filled a wall behind the front desk as well as the beautiful black and white photography covering the walls throughout the shop.
