Very rude owner/zero customer service: We got a quote from…read morethis company and called them to ask few questions to learn more about the service they have offered. When I asked if all four sides of the chimney would be repaired, the guy (I think his name was Mike) was like "such a silly question, such a silly question, that is a silly question" and then hung up for me. That is true, my question may be very silly/stupid but I am sorry, I have no background about chimney and masonry. That is why I am trying to hire a company to fix my chimney. I don't think any business owner should talk this way to a potential customer. Not to mention later I realized the service they offered was not up to standard and they do low quality jobs.

This contractor is absolutely unreliable!…read more Hentnick did some repointing on a neighbor's house. Based upon the quality of his work I called Hentnick for an estimate to repoint my own house. I spoke with a very pleasant woman who assured me Hentnick would "stop by" the following day to review what was desired. Hentnick showed up four days later and left an estimate tucked in our front door. I called Hentnick the following day and accepted the estimate as perhaps a bit low. I was given a start date two months hence. When Hentnick did not show up on the start date I called to get an update on a new date. There was no answer and I left a message. Over the following two weeks I called six times; all to an unanswered phone. I left six messages requesting a call back but received no response. On the seventh call Hentnick, himself, answered and told me he would be starting two weeks hence. He did not show up on the second start date either and didn't call. After more than a dozen calls over the next few weeks I gave up and secured an alternative contractor. Interestingly enough, another neighbor just recently had the same experience with Hentnick of promises made but not kept and phone calls unanswered.

If you need masonry or chimney work I would definitely give them a call.

(No disrespect to any other Masonary, I learned this is a busy season) Eric listened to my frantic rant about my chimney & asked to see some pics of the damage. After I sent them he said he would come by for a closer look ASAP & he did. He told me he would try to fit me in, & he kept his word: Within a couple of days, Eric was repairing my chimney with his crew member Sammy. They fixed issue, after issue after issue. My chimney had a lot of them. They went above & beyond & they paid attention to every detail. I am not family. I just met Eric & Sammy today. The last review must have been talking about another Eric. I found him to be transparent, extremely knowledgable & humble. I am very picky about who I hire & I am very pleased & impressed with the work they did. I have added some before & after pictures. Lastly, I sent out a lot of pictures of my chimney, but Eric had one of the lowest bids, it was very fair. Neither one of them asked me to write this review. I wanted to, because I am very grateful to the both of them. True professionals with a very strong work ethic.

This would be 5 stars if they didn't end up price gouging for a routine maintenance visit…read more I've used them before, once for a routine service visit and once when a radiator pipe was leaking (they ended up also doing our next service on the boiler at that time). The first time they did the maintenance, they didn't drain and refill the boiler, which was always done by any previous service techs. The second time I asked them to (after they replaced the bolt on the leaking pipe) and they did. In June of this year when they came for the maintenance, I mentioned that I'd like the boiler drained/filled again. Steve starts talking about how if I want the boiler drained, there are separate charges since they are different jobs, the burner and the water. This is news to me; every reputable tech has always drained the boiler as part of the service, even when we had an oil boiler, and the charge includes both services. After spending no more than 15 min total on my boiler, I go to write a check ($125 a year ago) and he says he needs to call the office to get the price. Red flag. They did not quote me when I called, but I also had used them before for the same service and knew that if the price went up, say to $150, I would have been fine with that. He returns and says it's $325 and does this song and dance about how their costs have gone up and he's not going to charge me the $125 fee to come out. What? It would have been $450 for a 15-minute scheduled routine maintenance call? I followed up with the office a few times to get an invoice with the 2 "charges" broken out. You guessed it, a month later they have ignored the request. I try to keep my business local rather than go with the big companies. Top Mechanical gave me a great lesson on how the little guy will choose to rip you off if he feels he can get away with it. Go with the big company is the takeaway if you don't want to be ripped off.

The difference in our home's comfort is incredible, and you can tell the work was done right. It's rare these days to find a company that combines fair pricing, quality craftsmanship, and exceptional customer care, but they truly delivered on all three.
