Late one cold Sunday evening roughly two weeks after moving into my new home, the septic system backed up into the shower, tub, and toilets. Only two showers and two uses of the washing machine overwhelmed the septic tank. I called the builder who at first presumed I had put something down the toilet that caused stoppage. But I track, and capture in a bottle, even the tiniest pieces of plastic for recycling, so I KNEW I was not the cause of the clog. After a back-and-forth text exchange, the builder agreed to pay for a Plummer. The first plumber I called said it would be two hours before he could get out, then said he couldn't come at all because it would be dark! So I called A J Plumbing to leave a voice mail message, and almost immediately after, received a phone call. The plumber and his son, who was just visiting, were in the mountains hunting javalina, but since it was early evening, they were about to head back to town. Instead, they came directly to my house and began the five hour process of unclogging the sewer line. They were determined to fix the problem and worked in the cold and dark until they located the clog and got the system cleared. They found a considerable amount of construction debris in the septic lines, as though someone had swept up a construction mess and then dumped the contents of the dust pan into the septic line. In the words of my heroic plumbing team, "There was a whole lot of building material in the clog! Really a lot!" In order to clean up the site, the father and son team had to run to the hardware store to buy a hose since I didn't have one. Thanks to the honesty and work ethic of these two men, this was a satisfying end to an enormous, stinky, and unsanitary problem. These days, this is a rare level of integrity and customer service!
