I went to check and make sure that everything was completed as promised and noticed that the flashing around the chimney did not look good. My husband called Kurt who took a while to return his call and told my husband that he did not get the pictures we sent. Kurt told my husband that they don't include masonary flashing in the quote even though the quote says flashing is included and does not say that masonary (chimney) flashing is excluded. My husband was then referred to the owner. The owner confirmed that the masonary flashing is not included but said they would fix it. He also mentioned that myself or my mother had referred to the house as a tear down and that my mother would likely only live in the house for another 5 years at most. We showed the pictures to another roofing company that confirmed the roof would leak the way the flashing was left. Someone came by and did some work on the roof, they did not let my mother know they were there. They came by more then once to complete the work but it still did not seem to be done as well as we felt it should be. Pictures show what we were told was a completed job before they returned and did more work.

He visited my mother's home (she's in her 70s) and verbally threw out a few numbers, but never provided a proper written quote outlining full scope and total cost. Without our approval, he went ahead and purchased tile and then attempted to charge us for it, saying he wouldn't proceed with the job unless we paid--despite there being no agreed-upon quote. When I asked for a detailed quote, what I received was incomplete and filled with exclusions ("this does not include X, X will be extra"), making it impossible to understand the true cost of the project. When I followed up and asked for a clear, all-inclusive quote so we could properly evaluate the work and protect my mother from unexpected costs, he insisted that what he sent was sufficient--which it absolutely was not. When I pressed for clarity, he became dismissive, said this was "too much work," refused to provide proper documentation, and hung up on me. In my opinion, this was highly unprofessional and concerning behavior. A reputable contractor should be transparent, provide a clear scope of work, and respect clients--especially seniors who may be more vulnerable to unclear pricing. I would not feel comfortable recommending this contractor to anyone.
