Should have left this review years ago but thought my kid was an anomaly. He wasn't. Staff forgot my 4 year old was there, stated he didn't come that day after trying to check him out. They lost track of him for over 30 minutes and kept checking kids in and out. The owner told me not to worry as her spouse is BPD. I pulled him immediately. At the new daycare another family started soon after coming from a Good Time Out and had the same issue. They were investigated and were supposed to issue warnings to current families and incoming ones for the next year. They didn't. A neighbor enrolled their child, weren't notified and had a very similar incident happen. I had never been so scared in my entire life. Imagine daycare losing your child and trying to gaslight you that you never dropped him off. read more

My child received an injury right before picking my child up from this facility. Instead of telling me about it or taking any responsibility I had to find out through my child that a staff member had accidentally struck my child with a door. Not once did they attempt to inform me and it was when I confronted them about it and showed the injury did they say what had occurred. No apology, did not take it seriously, and shows a real lack of responsibility to where I would not have been as upset and disappointed had they told me when I picked up my child. From the very first phone call I made 3 months ago, she walked me thru the registration process & allowed my Husband & I to come in the next day to check out the facility, she was so nice & very thorough! My son (2 years old) has only been there 6 times so far, but each time, he runs in & doesn't even wanna tell my bye! & when it's time to pick him up, he doesn't wanna leave! We have been going here for years, my son is almost 8 and when going routinely always ask to go again and again! I now have twins and would be them there all the time if I wasn't able to stay home. The staff is friendly, welcoming, making sure the kids are in good hands at all times. I love that they are active with them. They are very clean and love that. It is the irresponsible parents that take there kids there sick. You can only clean so much. In a bind, pick here. Need full care and can't find it, sign the contract to be there on your day(s)! Don't just think you can show up and have a spot, as they are a drop in and someone will be there before you! Stay far away! We have been waiting for a permanent spot for over 2-3 months. My daughter has been out since the 2nd week in November due to "hand food mouth" disease exposure (from their facility). We called and told them she had it and would be out until the last week of November. Before this disease issue, we had been consistently going every MWF. We get a call saying my daughter was "waitlisted" for return on 12.1.2021. I called in at 7am on 12.1 to find out from someone telling me that other children got high priority because they "prepaid" or had their reservations in first. Spoke to a manager (who supposedly is the owner) who had no clue and had to wait until Amy or Mackenzie came in. If I remember correctly my daughter had to STOP coming because they had some irresponsible parent bring a sick kid. This proves that they didn't clean as they should! 8 hours later I get a call from Mackenzie. Tells me she has "no clue why someone would tell me she was good to go because they didn't even have a schedule." She had an attitude and didn't care if I had my daughter going their or not. Typically in customer service they find a resolution to an issue, instead I got some bitch telling me it's my choice if I take her out. DAMN right it is my CHOICE. Mackenzie is one of their directors and one of the most snobbiest person I have ever met. She should be fired. I never liked talking to her but tolerated it because the other director was friendly and it was a good way for our daughter to get out and around other children her age. Forget this load of BS and clearly they have a hard time training staff and communicating. Let's add they aren't worth the money either. Let's add the incompetence of their staff. We have walked into the infant side and girls just talking to each other and my daughter just rolling around in the corner by herself, they have lost her sippy cups. Another instance that these little girls asking if a child (infant to 3 years) needs a jacket to go outside at 7am in the cold. Just pure stupidity. read more

Where to start. It's inevitable that Daycare will become part of a daily routine for a family of 2 working parents. What we didn't expect is on the first day, I received a phone call from my fiancé that our child was bit by another child, with in hours of drop off. Of course I was worried. I called and asked if I could see a picture and she said that they don't take pictures but assured me my daughter was fine. When my fiancé picked her up and sent me a picture of her bite, I was worried. It didn't look fine. We kept her out of for one day and decided to give them another chance since our daughter still seemed happy to go. With in the next few days that she had gone, she had a bit of a diaper rash (how often do they really change their diapers) and her diaper was put on poorly. One of the last straws for me is that she became very ill, she had contracted the Norovirus (basically the flu). She is just now getting better. We did not make our decision to lightly when we decided to pull her out. They don't watch the children as they should be doing nor do they properly disinfect everything. ALSO, they had requested our daughters immunization records when we signed the original contract. We have recently moved and were waiting for the records in the mail. But they never asked for it again. Once they got their money, they didn't care. Who knows how many kids they have there with out immunization records. Luckily ours is up to date. This daycare is a joke, they just want your money and that's it. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILDREN HERE. Trust me. From one mom to another, it's not worth It. read more

I have been bringing my kids here for years. First my son from the time he was a toddler until he got too old to go. And he was devastated he couldn't go anymore. I have been taking my youngest since she was a newborn. I like it because it's drop in and I can bring her anytime I have a work meeting or just need some time to myself. But I love it because of the warm and comforting environment. I feel like I'm bringing her to a second home. Like family. Its somewhere she can have fun and play and is surrounded by friends as well grownups who are very nurturing. It is clean and the staff is so nice and caring. This was my first time coming here i was asked to pick up a child 4 yr old i believe for someone around noon. It was easy to find in a business complex off of Calloway. Very interesting concept especially for people that don't know who in the hell are going to watch their kids so they can have a moment of sanity hehehe...Well this place is it!! Clean, staffed appropriately some were in better moods than others lol as expected. The front desk girl was so sweet i told her i forgot how to install a car seat (i don't have small kids anymore lol) she said well your in luck because she is certified in that!! I did it flawlessly with her tips thank you very much!! According to the children's parents the kids love it there they keep them busy, feed them and by the time you pick them up they are tired and ready for a nap or bedtime hahaha score!! The one thing is it is pricey which is why i had to pick him up for them at noon. I understand the prices as they have to be insured for multiple things which undoubtedly is expensive for them. They charge $5 per meal a little high that's just my humble opinion. If i had little ones i would most definitely utilise their services. read more

So happy and relieved to have found this place. My daughter has always been able to stay with family while I had to be at work, but due to circumstances changing we had to go the daycare route for child care. The staff here are warm and answered all of my questions and gave me a tour prior to me signing my daughter up. They're open early enough so that I can drop off my daughter and make it to work on time. Give daily reports on how much she's eaten, slept, and dirty diapers which is puts me at ease. The facility is always clean when I've dropped by to pick her up and the toys always seem well maintained. Ultimately I'm very glad to be using this daycare. read more

This place is super convenient to anyone in the Northwest of Bakersfield. I use it for drop-in care and regular day care for one of my children who is still too young to attend a regular pre-school. We really appreciate that they are willing to use cloth diapers on our daughter. Our daughter's derriere seems to appreciate it most days, too. A Good Time Out is moderately priced and it actually surprises me that they don't have a second location yet. I mean, what parent couldn't use a place that you can drop off your kids for a couple of hours to do your own errands, etc. and know that they'll be well taken care of? This place is a godsend! We don't have a lot of people in our lives who can watch our two boys when we go out. My husband was on a mission to find a highly recommended daycare facility to take the boys. He found A Good Time Out. New Year's Eve was when we tried them out. I called ahead since my youngest son is autistic and needed to make sure they were comfortable with special needs kids and had prior experience. I called when they were closed and left a message which they returned within a couple of hours (even before they opened). They were really friendly and accommodating with my son. This facility is located in a commercial building which I prefer to being at someone's house. Inside, there are several sectioned off areas that have different activities for the kids to do as well as more age specific areas. In order for anyone to enter or leave the play area, an employee must enter a code to open the door. This is nice security measure. As soon as we opened the door, both of our boys were just chomping at the bit to get inside to play. When we picked them up, they really didn't want to leave! They said they had so much fun. We will definitely use A Good Time Out whenever we want a good time out! read more

I have a 7 month old son who has been taken care of almost daily at A Good Time Out on Calloway Rd since he was 12 days old and I'm so thankful to them for the care they have been offering him (and to other families). When my son was born, due to having too much on my plate, I had not secured a daycare/nanny for him and didn't want to burden my family taking care of my own child so when I called Amy because I had to go back to work, I was shocked that they had immediate opening for him. It has always gone smooth, pleasant and RELIABLE, which has allowed me to run my life with mental ease (I mean, life is never the same after you become a parent, but I don't think about daycare issues for my son anymore). Here are the things I like about them: Excellent staff -- No one will take care of your child the way you do, but jeez, they do an amazing job. Excellent center with great large space that's safe and full of fun activities for the kids, great feeding schedule, opening and closing times that works for me, and the secure feeling I feel when i drop my son off. I'm so glad I chose this daycare over a live at home nanny because of the environment here and how social my son is around everyone else. He's growing fast, is hitting all his milestones with flying colors and I always tell my family and friends that his daycare was so instrumental in his growth, development and how social and comfortable he is around strangers. Things that my son's pediatricians have noticed is his physical ability is high up there and it's due to the center's facility with toys, practicing tummy-time, teaching them to sit up around 6 months, and more things that I'm forgetting right now --They really are amazing! I have two more on the way and though family say my life would be easier with a live in nanny ( I'm like a cat and like my space), I will bring my twins here once they're born because this facility really knows how to take care of kids. We take our daughter there and get to pay by the hour. Its great when you dont have family that lives near by. We use them for date nights. The staff is friendly and one thing I particularly like is the report cards they give when we pick her up. There's kids she can play with, the teachers are nice, they have snacks and lunch. Once she started school she came less, mostly for date nights or if we worked late. Incompetent staff and care takers. The staff do not communicate well with one another. This place isn't good for full time or part time care. On many occasions I picked my infant child up with filthy face- snot and food all over her face and a soiled diaper. As "licensed" care givers you should know all that it takes to care for a child and make sure they leave in similar condition in which they came. We paid for the meal plan and my child wasn't fed and instead of them calling to find out about his meal plan they let him sit hungry as the other children ate. They put nail polish on my son finger nails without asking permission. Finger painting and nail painting are two different things and to perform activities on a child before discussing it with their parents is unacceptable. They let the kids run wild and peel the chipped paint off the walls. My daughter hit her head on a hazardous toy that shouldn't have been in an infant play area. No one is supervising these children like they should. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone! read more

I love this place. My husband and I are transplants to the Bako area and really miss our friends and family. This place has allowed us to go on date nights. The children do not want to leave. There are firm boundaries with children who are learning to socialize. There are all sorts of activities and they have meals. There are many different deals to choose from and they make it easy for different life styles whether you are looking for a preschool or just need a place you can take your children with no prior notice. I have been taking my daughter here for over a year. She is in the infant room. The staff is so friendly and caring for the children. All of the employees greet my daughter with such excitement. I love the convenience of choosing which dates and times you need day care. Whereas other day care options require you to pay for a full time schedule, regardless if you need the days or not. They are very specific and provide the parent with documentation of what was eaten at what time and when the diaper was changed and what that consisted of. My child attended A Good Time Out, for 6 months when he was an infant (6 months to 1 year). I was very disappointed in the lack of concern for germs and the sick children being dropped off. My child was very sick the whole time he attended. We changed daycares and have gone nearly 4 months without any sickness. We also werent pleased with the children on the 18 month and younger side never, or rearly getting to play outside. He was in no way neglected but look around there are much better options for daycare. Also, they are very expensive and charge additional to be on the meal program, Most months totaling $980 a month! read more

BEWARE!!!! Horrible daycare!!! Their preschool program is a joke. They are wayyyyy too expensive. My son had a chunk of his face bitten off and they only separated the kid who did it. He was bitten 4 times, scratched on his face twice and one of the teachers slammed my son's finger in a cabinet so hard that his fingernail turned black and it fell off. When I asked what happened they tried to blame me. Later they found out one of the teachers did it and didn't make a report because it "didn't leave a mark." So they wont tell you about any incidents where your child gets hurt unless it leaves a mark???? What if it was a head incident?? You need to be informed!!! Most of the bite marks and scratches were brought up by me when I picked up my son and their answer to the question of "What happened to my son?" was always I DON'T KNOW. I'LL HAVE TO ASK AROUND. When I asked the next day their response was always Nobody knows what happened. A friend of mine took her hid there about 10 times and she said every time she dropped her kid off she saw my son wondering around lost, scared and crying. Whenever I would pick him up and ask how he did they always said he was great! The times I picked him up and he was crying they always said oh he just started crying. You can tell when your child has been crying for a long time. So I yanked my kid out and will NEVER take him back. I do NOT recommend this place at all!!! It should be shut down!! Things must have changed since the last review in 2012. They have a good staff for the infant area; however; the gal who takes the phone calls & also works at front desk, depending on her mood can be rude to you. I've spoke with other mothers, and they have all had the same problem, but nothing will be done about it. When dealing with mothers & their children that's not a great attitude to have. Don't even bother complaining to the manager or owners because they will back her up & have admit-tingly said she knows the charging system better than they do. Problem there!! If you call ahead of time for reservations you don't get any adjustments no matter what time you drop off or pick up. Hopefully they will change that for you. Great for moms to drop off your kids, but Mothers if you have to drop your kids off, ask for a print out every time, and take the 2 min. time to review your calculations.
