She did a great job of it, but after looking at the photos, I knew I wanted something slightly different eye shadow for the official day. Audrey totally got it and added more warmth to my eyes, and my face and lips were exactly as the trial and stayed put all day! My mother-in-law wears very little make-up and was hesitant for the lashes and lipstick, but Audrey did it in a way that let the natural beauty come out, while still being bold enough for the camera. Audrey is amazing! After weeding through tons of so-so makeup artist referrals, I stumbled on Glowing Bridal and could not have found a more perfect makeup artist! Audrey is a bride's dream come true! She came to our house in SF for my makeup trial, and set up shop in my kitchen. I will admit that I am a makeup slut, and that I frequently spend every penny of my paycheck on lip gloss and eyeshadow. In other words, I spend way too much time decorating my own face....so I'm pretty hard to impress when it comes to someone doing it for me. All of a sudden, here I am with Audrey, her makeup spread out over the kitchen counter and I'm ready to invite her to stay for the weekend. She uses only top of the line products, and she treats her brides like they are queens for the day! She even gave me great recommendations for skin care products that would help me to keep my skin clear during all of the pre-wedding stress....and they worked! I was hooked...and probably would have asked her to move in with me if she didn't already have a family of her own! Fast forward to my wedding day....Audrey got there EARLY and blended in perfectly with our girl-crowd. It was like having another girlfriend in the bridal suite! She artfully applied the makeup for my bridal party and my mom, making them look like glowing, beautiful versions of themselves...instead of made-up clown faces like other artists do. In fact, my MOH and my Mom rarely wear much makeup, and they LOVED what Audrey did. My MOH loved it so much that she didn't wash her face that night, and wore her makeup the entire next day! Kinda gross, but a compliment to Audrey all the same. Audrey even did a little gloss and blush for the little girls, and has a great policy about not making little ones look like mini-beauty queens. And then there was my makeup. When I finally got to sit in Audrey's chair, she had written me a cute little card and left it on my seat thanking me for letting her spend the day with us! Then she started to work her magic and gave me fluttery long lashes, glowy/dewy cheeks, perfectly pouty shining lips, and sexy dramatic eyes....like the "me" that I always hoped to find if I could only figure out how to play up my features! I also have this great genetic predisposition to turn bright red when I'm nervous, anxious, excited, happy, sad...actually all the time. Audrey managed to make my skin look fantastic, and even in the 90 degree Napa heat my face stayed a lovely shade of peach/cream perfection. Not a red cheek in sight! I loved her portfolio as soon as I saw it. As I kept looking and comparing, I never found anyone else whose work I liked as much or who was as affordable. Plus, I heard so many nice things about her that I booked her right away. I finally had my trial this weekend and was super thrilled with the result---fluttery false eyelashes; shimmering lids; dewy skin; and glossy, rosy lips! Five reasons I'm super-glad I booked Audrey: 1. She is so sweet and fun and easy going. When she came over for my make-up trial, it was like having a friend over even though we'd never met. 2. I've been meaning to write this review forever. Well, since my wedding, anyways. Audrey. Is. Amazing. Let me tell you what Audrey did for me: 1) I wrote a long, convoluted introductory email to Audrey trying to explain that I wasn't sure what I wanted for makeup--that I knew I wanted to play up the Indian bridal jewelry I'd be wearing, but I still wanted to fit in with our casual afternoon at-home wedding. I was afraid that those two things would be totally contradictory. Audrey wrote back right away, saying, "I'm familiar with the look you have in mind, modified of course for the relaxed style of your day....Backyard Bollywood, if you will...." Backyard Bollywood! Not only was I totally reassured, but the phrase that Audrey coined immediately became my own little catchphrase as I put together my wedding ensemble. I mean, she, like, GOT me. 2) We ran into some time constraints, and we weren't sure that we'd actually be able to have Audrey do my makeup the day of. Just in case, Audrey turned my makeup trial into a makeup lesson--and then wrote the whole thing out and emailed it to me, along with a clear shopping list so I could buy the same products that she used. No weird, proprietary secrecy--I really felt that Audrey was so committed to making sure I felt taken care of--and I did! Oh, and then when I couldn't find some of the products in time, she dropped off little containers of those products on my doorstep! That is how awesome she is. 3) Happily, Audrey was totally there on the wedding day, and she did the most unbelievable makeup I have ever had done. I felt SO pretty. I mean, totally conceited, super-confident, could-not-get-out-of-the-mirror pretty. Which is a really nice way to feel on your wedding day. And I felt that way all day, till the party wound up at midnight or so. 4) Audrey did my sister's makeup too, and my sister is usually totally uncomfortable getting her makeup done, but Audrey's lovely manner put her right at ease--and of course, Audrey made my beautiful sister extra-beautiful. 5) Audrey was so easy to get along with, so easy to talk to, and so open to hearing my ideas and implementing them. I couldn't agree more with the other reviews on this yelp page. Audrey is stellar. My wedding planner connected me with Audrey when I had trouble finding a makeup artist on my own. I was so pleased to see all of the positive reviews for her. Audrey set up a practice session with me at her studio in Petaluma a few weeks before the wedding. I showed her a picture of my dress, explained how my fiance and I met, talked about the setting and location of the wedding, and lamented with her about my sensitive skin. She took my vague guidelines and concerns and produced an amazing look for me that was delicate, elegant, and perfect for a spring winery wedding! She also have me samples of cleanser, hydrating cream, and moisturizer which lasted me up to the wedding- these products calmed my skin better than anything I have ever used in the past, and I am going to start using them on a more regular basis. It was just so nice to clear up for my wedding! Something funny happened at that practice visit- I mistakingly took a cleanser that I thought she was giving to me (my hearing issues are really embarrassing sometimes!) But we rectified that- now I need to buy the other two products from her and my skin will be back on the road to recovery. I just need to mention that Audrey has a stellar understanding of the science behind skin sensitivity and pathology- and the pharmacology of the creams and medicines used to clear up acne! I have never had an esthetician explain to me down to the very molecular level the benefits of using particular products for skin conditions as well as she did. She really knows her stuff! I spent more money on makeup than I originally thought I would- but the end result was a flawless, elegant look for my wedding- it was so easy to feel beautiful when Audrey so naturally highlighted all of my good features. I also have to mention that it was sweltering that day- and the way Audrey did my make up, I hardly needed any touch-up- I just used the grease wipes she gave me every now and then, and reapplied lipstick (she also gave me more than enough of this). Audrey is the best!! When I went to do my makeup trial with her I loved her! I brought two of my bridesmaids with me to her house in Santa Rosa for the makeup trial. And they also had their makeup done by Audrey at the wedding. She got my look down exactly how I wanted it! She had all the makeup that I use (MAC, Dior, etc)..She also uses lashes at no extra charge... Audrey was easy to get a hold of. She responded to my e-mails and phone calls super fast! She even sent directions on how to prep your skin before your makeup trial and wedding and she also sent you reminders before your trial and wedding...She showed up early to the hotel and was helping me calm my nerves! ha ha Audrey is also very reasonable. A lot of other places make you buy their makeup and charge you an arm and a leg for travel fees. Part of her fee include your makeup trial. So everything came out to about $175..$150 for wedding day makeup and trial and around $25 for travel fee from Santa Rosa to San Francisco. Once I booked her we agreed to a time to meet and do a trial make-up run. I met her in Petaluma at her salon and sat down in her chair to talk about what I was looking for. I had done a bit of research but only knew that I didn't want my eyebrows to look drawn in. She quickly assessed my skin, got the base on, and whipped out her brushes. When it came time for wedding day, I had also booked my mother-in-law, sis-to-be, and my mom to get their make-up done. Audrey was 5 minutes late and so apologetic, but I could've cared less. It was such a pleasure working with Audrey and having her do my wedding makeup. There are people who work to please others because they're paid to do so...I believe Audrey does it because she truly cares about her clients, and she won't be satisfied until you're completely happy with the results. I was initially a little hesitant to book her b/c she didn't do airbrush makeup. However, after reading so many great reviews and then seeing how friendly and responsive she was over email, I decided to book a trial with her. The first trial lasted about 1.5 hrs as I don't generally wear makeup so wasn't quite sure how I felt about the initial look. Audrey was incredibly patient and was willing to tweak things here and there until I seemed to be satisfied. After the trial, she emailed me to make sure I was truly happy with the results. She even went out of her way to talk to another popular Bay Area MUA to get some tips about working with my Asian eyes and also offered to do a second trial with me a few days before the wedding just so we could be sure everything was to both our satisfaction. On the wedding day, everything worked out better than I could have imagined. The half hour or so I spent in Audrey's chair was probably the most relaxing time I had all week, and the results were amazing! She totally nailed the look for me, and I felt absolutely gorgeous. Her presence and personality just makes you feel happy and calm, which is exactly how a bride should be feeling (only wish this could have been the case for ALL our vendors). Upon locating Audrey's site and reviewing her portfolio I knew she was the one I wanted. She was super quick to get back to me after my initial e-mail and we set up our trial run. My makeup looked natural but I was polished and it lasted all night (in spite of my terribly oily skin). The going rate for top makeup artists in the area is astronomical in my opinion, but I think Audrey's rate is more than reasonable considering I was about to pay much more for work I liked considerably less. Audrey is a gift from above to brides lucky enough to book her! She's so easy to work with, listens attentively and adapts her style to your needs / tastes. I got married in 90F+ weather and didn't have to touch up once the whole day. I booked Audrey for my June 2014 wedding in Sonoma. I looked stunning on my wedding day and I owe much of the credit to Audrey. I wear little to no make-up most days but I told Audrey I wanted to look my most glamorous on my wedding day and indeed I did! Although I was wearing more make-up than I am used to, it didn't feel heavy and looked flawless. It was 90 degrees on the day I got married and I had pictures taken outdoors during the warmest part of the day prior to the ceremony but I required very little touch-up--I simply blotted my skin and applied more lipstick, and I was ready for the ceremony. Audrey is super sweet and funny which is exactly the type of person you want to have around you on your wedding day. One of my favorite memories from my wedding day was getting into my dress and seeing a room full of smiles (including Audrey's!) My adivce for brides-to-be: When you spend thousands of dollars on a wedding dress and hire a professional photographer, don't skimp on the make-up and hair! I barely noticed that I was wearing makeup all day because she uses products that feel very natural on the skin. She is also very personable. Audrey is an amazing woman!! Simply said, I looked exactly as I'd dreamed and hoped I would for my wedding day! Planning wedding isn't easy by any stretch, let alone a destination wedding...I waited to the very end to find my make-up artist and was blessed to work with Audrey...when searching for someone to do my make-up, I almost fell out of my chair when I learned what some artists charged - seriously?? Let me tell you, Audrey is more than fairly priced and worth EVERY PENNY!! We'd emailed a few times, she's more than buttoned up and provides all sorts of information/details - but more importantly, her truly 'glowing' personality shines through, even in email, so I knew I was off to a good start. We met for an initial consultation only 3 days before my wedding day - I let Audrey do her work as an artist and her initial consultation was great - I loved her work...after sitting with it for the evening, taking some photos of myself to see how I thought I looked on film, I decided on a few changes...when Audrey arrived on my wedding day, we talked about the changes and everything was perfect!
