A DURMÌ was one of our favorite places to stay during our 3 week trip. It met and exceeded all of our criteria except breakfast is not included, which made no impact on our stay at all. We truly enjoyed our two night stay and I could easily have spent a week. It was an oasis of peace during our travels. When there we spent most of our time just outside the doors of our room on the lovely patio. The rest of the time was spent exploring Levanto and the Cinque Terre. The owners and all of the staff are interesting and engaging. My travel buddy invited one of the staff (a cousin of the owners... gosh I wish I could remember her name) to stay with her in Los Angeles if she ever made it to the U.S., and my friend meant it. If you are a friendly cool person I highly recommend you select this lovely place to rest your head on your next visit. My criteria when selecting lodging for myself and my travel buddy (Full sized - age 50 something) Clean 2 beds Private bath A lift if our room was on a floor that took more than one flight of stairs to reach. Air-conditioning Breakfast included Easy to reach from train, metro or bus. Close to sights we wanted to see. Less than $150 US if at all possible. read more

Our stay at A Durmi was one of our most enjoyable on our trip to Italy. It was reasonably priced and a wonderful, relaxing retreat in the historic old part of Levanto. Restaurants, groceries, and coffee shops were all a short walk away. First, one of the sisters picked us up at the train station so we didn't have to lug our luggage downhill and into town. After a long day of travel it was much appreciated. Second, when we arrived, the other sister, Chiara - who seems to run the place - greeted us and got us checked in, and then proceeded to provide so much wonderful information for us as visitors. She helped us figure out some hikes, and what to do on the first day which would be rainy and stormy, and she recommended a ton of great restaurants. In short, she was so friendly and welcoming that we immediately felt at home. Our room was basically furnished but clean and comfortable and spacious. One of the nicer bathrooms of our trip. The room opened onto a beautiful garden courtyard where we enjoyed relaxing outside for the afternoon. If you're visiting the Cinque Terres, which are one short train stop south of Levanto, I highly recommend staying at the spacious and relaxing A Durmi instead of in the crowded and over-touristed Cinque Terres towns. read more

We had a great stay in a Durmi. The sisters who run the hotel are very accommodating. They helped us plan our day hikes in the Cinque Terre, which was amazing. The hotel is simple, a pleasant retreat after a long day of hikes ~ we were happy to be "home" at a Durmi. read more
